The North Pennines - Middlehope Moor and Mines

  • This hike explores an unusual area, starting off with an ascent to the top of Middlehope Moor. From there we continue to Black Hill, then traverse across a truly isolated part of the North Pennines, Middlehope Head. From there the hike continues across Wolfcleugh Common till we reach Groverake, the last of the lead mines in Weardale. The journey concludes with a visit to Frasers Hushes, site of old hush mines before returning to the starting point.
    Total Distance :- 6.32miles (10.17km)
    Summits achieved :-
    Black Hill 1982ft (604m)

      It is gorgeous up there, I adore the isolation and leaving the normal world behind whilst in the mountains, a real hidden gem 😊

      Thanks, the amount of solitude in the North Pennines is unbelievable at times, can hike for 12 hours or more and never see another person, it is truly fantastic to experience.

    Really well composed video as always Duncan. Incredible open and wide views once more. I'm planning to come back in a couple of weeks and maybe hope to re-visit the Shepherd's Hut. I wonder if you'll be nearby......
