Haha it can be scary even for extroverted people. Nothing to lose for the most part though, might as well have fun with it! Also, please email me when you get a chance to land your prize for the leaderboard this month!
Hey Ken, great video! I was wondering if you ever had any onsite modeling interviews. I have one coming up in 2 weeks and the time limit is 2 hrs. Would it be similar to a takehome assignment? Thanks in advance!
Wow, those are pretty uncommon! I would be interested to hear about how that process goes. I expect that it would be very similar to a take home except they may be looking for specific things. I would make sure you evaluate the cleanliness of the data and explain if you have to impute values. I would expect that they would try to see how you evaluate this missing data or work with data that is slightly corrupted (mixed numbers and strings). On a separate note, I think it shows initiative if you ask questions about the take home exam. No harm in asking about the data, the tools you can use (can you use the internet?), and their expectations (what will a successful candidate show you through this exercise?). I hope this helps!
Ken, thank you for such an informative video! When you mentioned live coding interview tests, does that only include leetcode questions or could we also expect kaggle-like questions? From my experience, kaggle-like questions are usually take-home assignments, but I've not heard yet whether companies ask us to live code on Google doc using Pandas or something alike.
Thanks for watching! In person it is fairly rare but not unheard of to do a kaggle like question. I am sure that if they were to give you one of these, the expectations would be fairly low and you would likely be able to look at documentation. I hope this helps!
This is like... for people who already have quite some experience right? Like it's gotta be different if you're going for an entry or junior position, right?
Unfortunately, this is pretty standard for almost all data science interviews. Granted, most data science positions are considered senior (usually at least 2 yrs of experience). You could expect something slightly milder for a data analyst or bi role though. I hope this helps!
Thanks for your video! Is the interview process for the internship roles the same as the full-time ones? For DS, what questions are recommended in leetcode? What about the coding languages? Is it better to use python rather than java or both are ok?
Thanks for watching the video! The internship process should be a bit more relaxed. It is less common in those interviews for them to give you a take home test. For leetcode I would have a grasp on how to do some of the more basic programming questions. At the internship level, they usually wont ask you something more complicated than fizz bang or some variation of that. They just want to know that you understand the fundamental programming elements. I would personally focus more on python as it is more commonly used in data science.
Thanks for watching the video! I would apply to both and see what happens. If they are internships level for undergrads, both should be within reach. It never hurts to have options. Frankly, in a data science and data analysis internship, it is likely that you will be doing very similar work. I hope this helps!
Damn ken, almost a year and a half from this video, you have improved a lot, but always maintaining the quality of content
haha production value has definitely gone up!! Thanks for watching Juan!
So detailed wow! Thank you!
Thanks for watching!
Guys what do you wear or what can you wear or what is acceptable to wear in a data science interview ?
Actually a really good question! It varies by company, so I would just ask the recruiter what is appropriate.
#58: Sound scary, more for an Introverted person 😅
Thank you for the tips and the links related!! A lot of work to do to be ready 👩🏻💻

Hi Ken,
Thanks for the tips, it's really helpful! It seems like they care about insight extraction a lot. I will let you know how it turns out.
@@elzaty463 Please do! Good luck!

What are some of the companies you have found that have a good data culture?
Honestly, not many that I have worked in. I find that technology companies generally have better data culture though.

@@KenJee_ds Thanks!
Would you recommend someone getting a data analyst internship before a data science internship? Or just go straight for a data science internship?

How long typically the inperson interviews?
Usually between 30 minutes to 1 hour for each interview. There are usually 3-6 interviews. I hope this helps!
Me hitting a like before even watching the whole video 😌😌
Thanks Sameer!!
