Paul, I wanted to say a HUGE thank you! I am running Debian11(Bullseye) and had been having a tough time getting the DisplayLink drivers to install. your video held the critical component (installing the linux headers). I am now able to move forward getting this new laptop ready for my daily office driver!
Cheers!!
Yeah, your mamma said you were having issues with that when I spoke with her last. Now get back to work!
@@TallPaulTech Awesome reply!!
I just did this with Debian 12 Bookworm, and it worked perfectly... Thank you!
Very helpful! I spent about an hour yesterday scrolling through the internet on how to download the DisplayLink drivers on Debian but this worked seamlessly. It also worked on both X11 and Wayland environments. I had resolution issues on X11, that were fixed when I switched to Wayland. But the graphics are a bit more grainy/pixely. More than likely due to using a couple of outdated second monitors.
What may have helped, I downloaded the DisplayLink drivers prior to this video via Synaptic Package Manager. Its also possible this did nothing for getting this driver to work ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
fun thing to note if you want to use it with debian 11 flavored as raspberry pie os on pc you only get x11 and no way to switch so usb monitor work all the way untill the login screen , then it goes dark and restart your main monitor in a loop especially when you use one of those cash register small screens
this is very infuriating, but at least i know now why this might be the case
although i want to completly remove x server and use this setup in 3d printer so klipper screen routines might not even need drivers, since screen automagically gets alive at some point at boot process
Nicely done Bullet Head
Thanks, I was trying with x11 until I saw your video. Gotta switch to wayland haha
G
ood job thanks a lot.
That's Awesome 👍, 3D waterfall for Wi-Fi! I connected my hackrf to SDR-Console in windows since that has also a 3D waterfall, but of course wide band FM mode is way smaller than 20MHz Wi-Fi channels! 🙂 👍 Can't wait to test it out once is done!
You'll be waiting a while
I have a generic USB-to-VGA called "WAVLINK", and I'm running Armbian linux (Debian, I think) on a NEXBOX A95X (formerly Android) TV box! Would this possibly work on that setup?? Thanks for any insight!
Wow it really worked 😊❤
My shit always works, sometimes
Thanks for your help!!
I have a question, it functions with Ubuntu 22.04? Y want to configure 2 monitors and my laptop.
What have you done with Steve?
so you mean it's not going to work with x11 ?
What is the brand and model of the USB adapter you're using ? 👍

hi, i have a question. i have an laptop with win 11 usb c and an old laptop with ubuntu usb a can i use usb c to usb a to use my old laptop as second screen. please tell me know if you have any idea how can we do that
No, sadly, not by wired. But spacedesk is wireless and works flawlessly for this, and it's free, and the other laptops keyboard and mouse can be used too
I was trying to get Debian to install on my laptop and Can not. For some odd reason After bootup menu comes up select the usb stick and it says no OS there. I can put ubuntu or any other linux on there with no problem. I can not get Debian to show up. Do you have a video explaining how we can install Debian on the computer?
That explains why it was a soggy mess when I tried, no wayland. Guess I have to prod things a bit to make things happen.
Do you know if this will work on Knoppix?
I am using Debian and I have HDMI to USB converter I installed DisplayLink as you show, and it installed successfully but after reboot it doesn't work I don't know why, who can help me please ? (Note: That my screen using VGA and I connected to it VGA to HDMI converter and then HDMI to USB converter)
I have a question for all you, I have a work laptop with 1 hdmi and 1 usb c. The usb c is not thunderbolt. I also am not allowed to install any software or drivers on the laptop. With that being said, I would like the option of powering two external monitors for better productivity. Is this possible? I have tried dock after dock and spent 100’s of dollars trying to make this work. If anyone sees this and has a option for me I would greatly appreciate it!
Monitor 1- Acer KA272
Monitor 2- Lg 34WQ500
Laptop- HP RTL8822CE
working in Debian 11 with DisplayLink USB TO HDMI Adapter and wayland
Is there any hope if I'm stuck on X11 due to Nvidia chips?
What's so bad about that? You just described my desktop.
@@TallPaulTech I can't get the adapter in this video working? You said it only worked on Wayland.
So there is no way to use with X11? fucking X11.
Why did you change your channel's name I thought it was cool the other way
Please uninstall all other versions of DisplayLink Linux Software before attempting to install.
Installation terminated. =(
