To people thinking Penny was unfair and persuaded Leonard into not "having a kid" :
- she clearly stated she was not gonna have a say in this, since she didn't allow him having a say in not having a kid
- she went over her own discomfort and told him he should do what he wishes (let's face it, even if you don't want kids, the thought of knowing your husband genes will mix with another woman's is pretty uncomfortable)
- Her wanting to sleep with him was because she was horny, not because she wanted to dismantle all plans
- Leonard was given insight from Sheldon rather than Penny, who told him it made sense she wasn't on board with the idea of "having one of his kids somewhere in world"
- Leonard wanted a kid; passing your genes around doesn't mean having a kid, as he wouldn't have been the kid father; the baby would have grown up in another family, with other parents and without any relation to him except of half his biology.
- Leonard wanted a kid specifically with Penny
- The moment he understood that by doing this he would have a child with a woman that isn't the one he loves and that he would never be a father as the baby was going to grow up in a different home, he understood that this is not what he wanted and backed off, only telling Penny AFTER he took the decision
Also, remember Penny has had attachment issues since EVER and she also has a hard time thinking at herself as a responsible, mature person. It makes sense she was terrified of the thought of having babies.
But once she discovered herself pregnant with LEONARD'S baby, her idea changed. She is happy with him, she loves him and wants to see him happy.
