- This is the anniversary video for the Mudhoney Distortion from T-Rex.
The first edition was made in 1997. Since then there has been multiple versions of the pedal, and it has earned its status as an iconic distortion pedal.
The Mudhoney has an amazing tonal range and ability to deliver everything from smooth dirty edge to a harrowing wall of distorted sound.
It comes with 4 controls: Gain, Boost, Level and Tone
Video filmed and edited by Tobias Weltzer
Guitar played by Mika Vandborg

I always come back to the Mudhoney , around 15 years now . The best 👏🎸
Love this pedal! Got this back in 2010 and its still my go to distortion!
Very cool, glad to hear that Jon ;-)
The Mudhoney is next on my list. After years of trying out different pedal brands for my drive/distortion sound I ran into The Alberta. That pedal blew me away and it has never left my board unlike many other overdrives.
After that I became sort of a T-Rex fan boy and been turning solely to your products for my gain needs. The last I bought was the Diva Drive and next is the Mudhoney. You make awesome dirt boxes that really sound good in any situation!
I’m selling one on Reverb
I'm a big fan of T-rex pedals. Most of my pb is made of T-rex pedals, Moller, Dr Swamp, Replica and The Hobo Drive. Yesterday I bought an used Mudhoney (lucky me!) and I've tried it all morning today. It goes without saying, this pedal sounds awesome. Very natural, almost tube amp distortion, that can be pushed to fuzz or stay clean/crunch that sounds 'real'. If I have to compare it to the Dr Swamp, I'd say the Mudhoney is more organic, it's got more body, it's very "'ethereal", open distorted chords sound full and rich in harmonics, power chords sound violent and modern with the switch on, at half gain. I've found that with this pedal, you have a tendency to play longer times, with more stamina, more passion, more feeling and emotion. I suspect it's the 'response', that 'bouncing' feel this pedal has. The Mudhoney grabs you in a way that feels visceral. I'd say this pedal should sound perfect live with loud drums and open cymbals if you know what I mean. The tone control is a bit darker compared to the Dr Swamp, so I had to push it to 2 o'clock to feel absolutely immersed in the sound. What more? there are tons and tons of distortion/od pedals out there, I've tried many, from cheap to boutique. The reason I love T-rex pedals is the quality, look, they are easy to use and enjoy, which to me, is more important than anything else. When you decide you wanna be a rocker and you want to play rock, alternative rock, indie rock, power pop, neo grunge, pop punk, or Brit pop, etc, in a band with your friends, then I'd say this pedal is perfect for that endeavour. Cheers!
All time classic pedal! I love it!
I love the Mudhoney, its great, I have a few.
If you don't have a Mudhoney, Just buy one. It has something about it, that is just better than everything else.
T Rex pedals are absolutely incredible. I've got the Mudhoney and the Quint Machine and they are both phenomenal with both my AC10 and AC30. They just make you want to keep on playing.
What / who did you name the pedal after?
I have a question for you guys. I own an old Magnus, wich I really like and fit my needs perfectly, but i've never tried a Mudhoney. Is the distortion side of the Magnus the same as Mudhoney (internal components, sound)? Thanks ;)
Little question: difference between mudhoney and dr.swamp? Same circuit or not??
Hi T-Rex. Does the Mudhoney work with a fender deluxe reverb?
Did u guys name it after Mudhoney Grunge band? Or the film they named their band after?
