Father MOMOTARO ♂(2000/7/3)
He is hesitant in new situations and is a loner.
His father died before he was born, and he had never spent time with a silverback.
He had already turned into a silverback by the time he was 10 years old.
He is struggling with unfamiliar child-rearing.
MOMOTARO's father is BIJU.
MOMOTARO's mother is MOMOKO.
Mother GENKI ♀ (1986/6/24)
She is 14 years older than Momotaro and has a role to support the whole family mentally.
She has had a tumultuous and eventful life.
She has returned to her birthplace, Kyoto City Zoo.
She had never been blessed with a baby but after meeting Momotaro,
she had two sons.
She is a very maternal female gorilla.
GENKI's father is MAC.
GENKI's mother is HIROMI.
First son GENTARO, male (2011/12/21)
He was separated from his mother Genki soon after he was born.
Genki's milk production was not very good.
He was raised by his keeper for his first10 months.
Because of this, he is very fond of humans.
His face is so expressive, and everyone enjoys watching him.
Second son KINTARO ♂ (2018/12/19)
He is just very strong-willed and independent.
He has big eyes and long eyebrows.

Gentaro observou que as pessoas não estão presas, elas andam para várias direções, mas ele não pode, está confinado a um cubículo, Kintaro só tem 4 anos é normal que queira brincar, mas já olhei Kintaro com a cabeça encostada no vidro observando o mesmo comportamento das pessoas, com uma carinha triste, a rotina cansa, e o Zoo não faz nada para mudar, nada de diferente para que se torne uma novidade atrativa para os gorilas.
When I told my sister about how Gentaro always looks out the observation window with a wistful look, my sister said (jokingly), that they should put a collar on him and a leash and take him for walks. Now that would be something. Uh no...that wouldn't work at all. 😁

Thank you for sharing the video! How much time does Gentaro spend outside waiting until he can enter the room after Genki? Did the keepers recognize any sign from Momo how he "allows" Gentaro to come in? Posture or grunting maybe?
On average 10 to 15 mins. But he stays outside more if the weather is fine. For him, it is better since it is unnecessary for him to hesitate. Yes, the zookeepers acknowledge all and don't do anything becuase it is a rule in a gorilla society.

I'm not worried about Gentaro waiting outside, it's okay if they "set up" this rule, I'm just curious how they - because sometimes also Genki hesitates to enter - know when they are allowed to go inside. I've seen some scenes when Gentaro looked inside but decided to not enter, instead, he waited a bit more outside. Did he get a signal from Momo?
@@latralla4577 I did some digging and only found the different sounds they make. Some may be so quiet that the keepers don't hear. I think it all comes down to an instinctual recognized behavior. The Silverback makes the rules, protects his family,etc and so he eats first...
