Great video! Going into my first year of college, wasn't recruited sadly, but i'm wanting to be a coach when i graduate... i played line in high school and would love my first coaching job to be the line coach for sure! I'll take whatever i could get though, no need to be picky!

That’s what I wanted too but I had to start coaching receivers and then by my 3rd on to now I’ve been the OL coach! It’s the best!

Best position to start with as a new coach...Tight Ends. You have to know the run game and the pass game.

What do you think about applying for a head coach position with no high school coaching experience? Played 16 years and played in college. Interned to be an AD, but prefer coaching. Have a degree and all the certs

They'll look for some type of actual experience. Being able to interact with kids and managing them off the field is more than meets the eye as opposed to on the field duties. Work with some youth programs, and connect with a potential feeder system when you become a head coach, it'll be much smoother.

the head coach at the program i work at was in a similar position youre in. after his first year coaching the whole staff quit and he was made the head coach. 15 years down the line I come into the picture and there are SO many things he either does wrong or just simply doesnt know better. he based his coaching off of how he was coached in the 80's. Football is a completely different game now and the kids have a completely different mindset. I'd highly recommend anyone to get minimum 5 years before you head coach. And try to get to a couple different programs to see how different coaches do it and take what you like from each team to build around it.
