Going to be honest I feel like this fan game is going to top sugary spire for the title of “fan game most likely to be added to the vanilla game“. I just hope they can really improve the tiles and backgrounds because they do look fairly generic. Though maybe I am spoiled by other tower lol. Also making the main character eat the enemies like he’s ravenous is such an amazing idea why did nobody think of that
Here’s my ideas for some decor that Taco Tower can steal for free if they so choose. 1. I have an idea for the guacamole The tiles could probably go with less detail, looking more like the big globs in one of the factory backgrounds and maybe a few chunks in there since I’ve seen Guacamole have chunks of tomato and such in it. (Even if it’ll look like vomit lol) 2. For of the backgrounds, you can have entire desert of guacamole with little pipes poking out of it spewing the guacamole so it looks like they made so much that they literally flooded the factory with it. It would give a sense of vastness and mystery to a new adventure, as if you crawled out of factory hell into the taco realms above as if it’s the ending to portal 2. 3. For the main factory, you could make every prop sort of point towards the center, like the conveyor belts, and maybe give them a bit of curve to make them less generic and stiff. Concrete pillars could be between, using darker colors the further way they are from the foreground. This will make the factory look incredibly expansive, and also a little bit scary. The darkness and how all of the conveyor belts or aligning to one Centerpoint makes it look like there’s something beyond there we can’t see. All about the scene dressing. You could even add the faces on the globs of guacamole as references like you did with the backgrounds here! 4. You could take an idea from the original John gutter it makes some of the terrain made of boxes of taco ingredients, with the same color as the tiles as to be subtle. It’ll add some variation to the tile set like the original John gutter had a bunch of John blocks and slightly bigger tiles in its terrain. Giant cracks, cargo boxes, trash cans, and even fossils hidden in trash would be perfect for this! 5. For the secrets, I think you could add little subtle drips as foreground decor and also orange vines and flowers. Even a dumb ass orange cacti as one of the decorations would be hilarious! 6. You could make any 1-2 wide pillars in the terrain into metal pipes! It’ll look less clunky. Taco tower literally doesn’t need to use any of my ideas but I hope they do great things because the funny Mexican man is very funny and I want to see him do flips :)
there's a hint of inspiration taken from mexican music in the songs shown here and I think that's like tortilla chips to salsa. it's clearly doing its own thing good enough but some of the synthesizer choices are perfect to radiate that energy that the rest of the art style is radiating. and god I just CANNOT forget to mention those riffs the bigcollects play, that is one of my favorite things games do and that's putting audio queues over stuff like collecting something. digging the music overall, hopefully that's kept up with the rest of the levels
