I know this video came out a while ago but I got some of the Chinese. When you encounter the remnants officer on the stairs he either says "xia si ma?" (Which is a taunt meaning "gonna die of fright?") Or xia si ta! (kill him!) Another says "Ni men shi shei(which means who are you?) "Unintelligible....for comrade Cheng." "You will fall capitalist!" "Die American!" They also have panic lines on being shot although they were too garbled for me to make out. Overall they taunt and threaten and question you in basic but somewhat accurate Chinese.(All the va obviously doesn't speak Chinese and pronounces every single word wrong even if the dialogue is written well.)
The L R pronunciation thing is a Japanese thing, mandarin speaking people have no provlem with L or R. The sound of TH on the other hand... Very few native Asian language speaking people can nail. In other words, that radio broadcast's stereotypical impression is so bad..
Why are they hostile from the beginning? It would have been so much more interesting if you could have somehow talked your way out or convince them to stop lurking around in a broken pre war-Building for a lost cause.
They’ve spent 200 years inside a single building with the sole mission of wanting to kill Americans. Also the lone wanderer does not speak Chinese and the Chinese do not speak American, there’s a bit of a language gap there.
Yes, it would have but a game like this requires you to have things to shoot. It's unfortunate but sometimes just the way it is. Definitely would like to see more peaceful resolution options though.
That is a good question, I wondered that at the time too. Really, why would they still be in that building after nearly 200 years? Dedicated or not, there was no purpose to the place after the bombs dropped, logically they should have been trying to get home if they were still loyal, and if they were not then they logically would have left after all this time. They were clearly not feral, so it was not a case of being mindless. All I can think of is that it was a case of devs filling space without thinking about the interesting implications. Spies abandoned when the bombs dropped, who for unknown reasons stuck around the ruins, and the story of what must have happened directly before, when things became a blood bath would have been a good bit of content to cover.

These videos are perfect, you incorporate several pretty good entertainment tools; Accurate information delivered with your own calmly humorous narrative, You're actually GOOD at the game both from a combat perspective, and in an appreciation aspect, you know when to break the rules, and i get the feeling the questions you ask are well thought out, giving us the viewer a chance to respond. The other Ghouls are; Captain, Sergeant, Soldier, Spy (John Le Carre joke goes here) i'm guessing Soldiers are Privates, Sergeants are Corporals (which are considered Sergeants in the Chinese military) and SGT. regular and Staff class, Captains are Captains, and Officers are everything in between Lieutenant and Warrant Officer, and would also include Sergeants Major, First and Second class. The spies though, are only seen dead near a broadcast tower? I had to look that up, and it says there is two near Tower KT8 (dead), i can't remember if there is any alive and fighting.
So i think you have a ton of potential. Your voice is easy to listen to and engaging. The way you explain things while playing makes it feel like were exploring and discovering things with you. Id recommend making this a series tho. Maybe where you start out the game with a fresh character and in each episode you explore the lore behind the environment, characters and quests your doing.
Non-native speakers, trying to sound like ghouls, reading lines that were likely ran through a translator. You would probably have struggled even with the script in your hands.

Also better gameplay like companions who actually are controllable and useful rather than just liabilities. New Vegas would have had a side quest about this place rather than it being another location that has some interesting things in it but aside from looting there's little reason to even enter, without the radio signal most would have just missed it entirely.

it's not particularly weird the captain had the officer's sword. a Captain IS an officer, and officer can be any rank from lieutenant to general/admiral, so if the "officer" was a lieutenant, they would have been a lower rank than captain. In fact there are several lieutenant ranks lower than officer. "Officer" is a very generic term that does not constitute rank in anyway.
Creepy and depressing to think these Chinese soldiers are still alive as irradiated ghouls, lurking in long abandoned buildings and still wearing their uniforms, as if the war is still going on.
So in the Fallout universe, the Chinese created stealth suits with the cloaking abilities of the stealth boy but permanent. Yet they made what is likely the shittiest gun in Fallout ( though the Chinese Assault Rifle is among the best... You'd think they could've made a better pistol.

This place was like a maze. Gave me a sense of claustrophobia to be in it for so long, and a sense of relief once I made it out to the open wasteland.

I'm fairly sure they won't be hostile by default if you build your character as the race of asian, out of the 4 options. So far they haven't attacked me from the start as my character is asian.
