Random fact: George Washington's voice actor is the same guy who voiced Medic in TF2
He also voices Kazuhira Miller in Metal Gear Solid
Random facts:who is voice actor of Connor
*kill Charles Lee* Oops zat was not medicine
And is the same guy who voiced Brynjolf from Skyrim :D
Lucian Chiriac he’s done a lot. What a great guy.
Medics also my main
I do like the fact they portrayed Washington as a flawed human. He knew how to use Connor, and respected his ideals and conviction, but also that war is horrible and even good men do horrible things during it.
I agree it is kind of unfair to disrespect our first president like that seems wrong
@@roygiron4001 While we should respect our forebears, we must also take care not idolize them. Washington, as the first, was a great man (in the classical sense of the term). However, we mustn't forget he was still a man, with all that entails. Even our heroes aren't perfect. No one must be immune to criticism.
@@PhoenixBlazer39 I don’t mind criticism I get that was another time in history where some things we don’t agree with anymore but I don’t see the point in making George Washington the evil master mind in the game by killing natives we weren’t the only country to do it England France Spain Portuguese Dutch ect and we shouldn’t be judging him we don’t know what he is like in the first place all we have is quotes from him we don’t know if he is a asshole or not as a person that’s why I say it is unfair to judge him like that but you are right we are not to idolize
@@roygiron4001 The first president was a hugely flawed man. A man who believes in slavery, the genocide of native Americans, and the pursuit of his own wealth. However, he was an innovative leader and wise man who founded a nation through the people. Instead of a single man, Washington established a cabinet of men to guide a nation. Instead of a tyrannical loophole, Washington left after 2, 4 year terms. A complicated man in a complicated time.
@@PhoenixBlazer39 Indeed, though this game always made me feel like it portrays the whole war in an aspect that only the ill deeds of Washington (among other things) are taken into consideration when judged.
Washington played Connor like a damn fiddle.
How so?
@@secretprodigy8189 Ever played the Metal Gear games?

@@secretprodigy8189 George Washington ordered the attack that would end up killing connors mom not Charles Lee or Haytham meaning Connor killed his Dad for no reason

@@Endgame707 Ok, I mean he was born in Virginia and died in Virginia, but go off about his ancestors, his predecessors. Cause if we follow that belief, then I'm not English I'm Finnish, and I don't want that. No I really don't, I'm English, Washington was American
Except the part where he helped him out at Yorktown destroying the fleet in the Chesapeake😂.
Assassin's Creed has taught me more than any of my social studies classes
We are currently learning about the American Revolutionary War in my class and I bought this to help me study, play a game, and I also really love history
@@briskflicks688 same except for me it was ac origins and helped me learn about ancient Egypt
😬
@LETHAL GAMER He was a good president in the measure of the possibilities his policy aligned with his good will. Unfortunately, rarely those things align. It's hard. Every leader takes bad decisions. And yet, in a democracy, we are entitled to criticize those, and the persons that make them, in the measure of their impact.
Bro stop sleeping during class
For those wondering why Connor still pursued Lee despite what Washington did to his people...Well...It's because Washington is still need for the Revolutionary war. Killing him would bring everything the Colonists worked for to ruin. As for Lee. He's still an evil man and he explained his intentions when Connor was in prison. Connor didn't want to sacrifice all the colonists hard work to settle his own personal vendetta. And so he went after Lee instead.
Why didn't you mention his disgusting racism he showed to little Connor?Or the choking? That's enough reason for me atleast to kill someone.
@@utoresa5193 i.e. evil man. the racism is just part of the evil lee carried.
@jckspacy
Incomplete theory because Connor was still surprised when his people were driven out of their village. Connor's character is contradictory because of lazy writing aimed at a braindead audience. At the end of the game you're playing bowls with the man responsible for the death of your mother. Trying to make sense with that story is like trying to rebuild a sunken ship wreck.
@@DreadNawght Exactly. Makes no sense
@@utoresa5193 This game portrayed Charles Lee as the opposite of what he really was. Charles Lee was many things but a racist was not one of them, he was one of the few colonials to actually marry a Native woman.
so in the beginning of the game they should have made Washington look his actual age during the French and Indian War. He was in his twenties and certainly did not have grey hair. Also they didn't even bother to research Braddock. He was like 60 years old when he died in the battle.
+Zyzor
Yeah, I agree that this series does a crappy job of making characters look the appropriate age. In this particular game, though, I think the worst offense is Lafayette, though I'm pretty sure they have him in a powdered wig. No such excuse for Washington.
Zyzor True about him in the beginning. But when he was interacting with Connor he was ok then.
Zyzor I'm sure they did that out of the fact that they didnt have selfies of George Washington in his 20s
No the biggest offense is Machiavelli in the Ezio Trilogy.
Zyzor in ac rogue they made him look young when shay is still a assassin killing his brother Lawrence washington don't know why they didn't do this one the same way.
Fact: Shay kills Washington’s brother, George is also present in Rogue for a couple seconds with dialogue.
Who before told the other Templars to leave George be.
@Narendra Modi brother
@DEEJMASTER 333 Lawrence told the Templars to leave George be.
@DEEJMASTER 333 Glad we can agree
Even after George betray Connor, he helped his troops and told him what Charles Lee had done. I would like to note that Connor didn't have to. He did not owe him anything. But, he is honorable and honest to even his enemy. Resigning himself to warn George Washington about what happened and as his farewell, gave him one last victory. I respect Connor and what he strives for. Gives a whole new meaning to the word dignity.
Fun fact #2: the voice actor for George Washington also voices Brynjolf in Skyrim
And the Prince (Warrior Within)
And The Medic (Team Fortress 2)
I remember being so suspicious of Washington because going by AC2 Glyphs, he had a Piece of Eden.
Assassin's creed 3 story was so sad first Connor did everything to protect his people ,but still his people died. Then He had to kill his father and achilles died, and he was like another father to him.
Muscleman 777 they didn’t die. They simply moved to the woodlands outside New York. They lived there for many decades. Connor moved there as well and had a family within his tribe.
Bruh imagine if Ziio just stabbed Washington right at the beginning of the game when She saved Haytham.
And herself
Washington got what he deserved when Connor told him off.
He was a user, a manipulator, and that was made clear when it was revealed that he took advantage of Connor's innocence. Connor was fighting all of Washington's battles because of his own selfless nature, anyway, so imagine accomplishing all that, and then finding out that the person you were doing it all for was not only an asshole but was an asshole to YOU personally. Without physically hurting him, the least I could do, personally, is drop some sass.
ACIII was the first AC game that touched on morally gray areas concerning Templar/Assassin philosophy. It gave us an impressionable and optimistic protagonist who, over time, came to understand both Templars and Assassins by experiencing both betrayal and trust on both sides. The best aspect about Connor among other things was his ability to make up his own mind by the end of the game by freeing himself from any sort of doctrine, whether it be of the Assassins, Templars, Loyalists, or Patriots.
That's a really good write-up.
👏👏👏👏👏👏Connor was great. He was so charmingly naive and certain of everything.Everything was so black and white for him.He immediately jumped into the craziest suicidal situations.Thats what I call sweet flaws.
Ok but what are you doing 3 years later

The real Washington had a temper and was prone to irritability (His teeth hurt.) The Washington in AC3 is noticeably placid and tolerant of Connor and Haytham’s much stronger personalities.
Do you know more?
@@steampunkastronaut7081 About Washington? Sure, what would you like to know?
Ac3's Washington is a cheap Modern Warfare 2 imitation character. If he was historically accurate; he'd probably be the main character and this would've turned into a Civilization game.
@@howardmctroy3303 How did he feel about natives sitting in the continental congress? 😄
Bcuz Connor is such a wholesome person
Props for washington coming back alive for this
11:52 I really do like his point of view here of relinquishing his power for other men who are more capable than him. That's the true meaning of democracy, and every leader should have this mindset when they feel like they're at the end of their term. Many leaders throughout the world who fought for their nation's independence took all their power and might afterward and even declared themselves regent for life, contrary to what George said here.
I think Connors own outlook rings true though, it is best to leave it to men who know better but to assume that all those who ‘know better’ will carry out what’s best can be costly in and of itself. Leaders should still be diligent, and learn from their betters to in turn be better themselves and create a far better strategy to lead. It is great that Washington and others like him were willing to step down when it was time to let someone else lead however, a great balance of morales is the best you can possibly have when in those roles. Both sides make a great argument though!
The reason Connor is mad at him is because Washington´s speech can be interpreted as him trying to shove off the responsability. Compare him to Connor: once he completed his mission of killing his father and Charles Lee he continued serving as an Assassin mentor, he didn´t retire in hopes that someone better than him would resolve everyones problems.
Natives come first if only he ment "his people but the betrayal caused him to say "my people man natives contributed so much for USA to be a independent bully!
We remember and honor the natives
Washington in this game is too milquetoast for my liking and for the historical record too. The guy had a commanding presence but here he’s just a pushover to Connor and Haytham’s criticism.
Damn, this game really made me think better of so many things US-related. Such a good game =D
fun fact, in language of poland *George* is called *Jerzy* Which as we see doesn't sounds even a little familiar like other names translated to english
10:30 - “A warning to you both, choose to follow me or oppose me and I will kill you.”
Man, he talks like that to the First President of USA and One of the Greatest person in the Templars. So coolll, playing AC III Main theme on Piano is definitely a must-do for a gaming pianist like me.
Brynjolf! I've just realised that it's the same voice actor. XD
@Taiga Xp
You are correct!
Would love to see a George Washington rpg
I wish they gave General Braddock a better uniform like they did with Pitcairn. Pitcairn looks like a higher rank than Braddock.
Because Pitcairn was more respected by the colonists and his men and also king George
Connor, why are we still here? just to suffer?
George Washington is one of the best presidents American has ever had😀
Which says a lot about Americans considering Washington was crazy enough to ride into lines of gunfire and survived by sheer luck.
JFK was.
But his tricked Connor I don't like him
Abe Lincoln was.
Goldenfoxy 1234 well not really. Tactician yes, but he didn’t exactly do a great job a being president. The country was failing. Look up shay’s rebellion. That explains most of why it was failing.
It kinda bugs me that Connor just cut Haytham out, I think we should’ve explored more of their team work and I would’ve loved to see Haytham speak more on his feelings towards the death of his wife. Hell, would be cool if Haytham started playing both sides and not just the Templars. Unsure himself about what he truly wanted to stand beside, almost like the people of America during the Revolutionary War.
That's because Haytham was trying to manipulate Connor. Remember, Haytham knew what really happened to his village the whole time and chose not to tell Connor until he was at his most vulnerable. And Connor saw right threw it. So of course, Connor got tired of Haytham's BS and decided to go his own way. Course, Connor does eventually regret it afterwards.
@@rojaedavis8367Not to mention, he and Lee armed the natives to attack the Patriots knowing they’d retaliate and disillusion Connor. Just as bad as what Washington did.
Thank you, man.
+Phantommatthew You are quite welcome! You waited a long time for that, so thank you for your patience!
I hate how Washington used Connor
Haytham used him. Connor just volunteered his services of his own free will which he ended after facts came to light.

You can't judge a past society based upon the standards of today's.
So in 25 years we won't judge Hitler anymore? What's a shitty logic.
BTW Indian genocide and slavery were criticised even back then
@@albertoamoruso7711 The point was is that you cannot label people evil for something that was just apart of their everyday life or was necessary at the time.
@@TheJeff555 But with this kind of reasoning you can really justify the worst crimes in history. Like slavery or genocide.
@@albertoamoruso7711 I am not saying to justify the crimes of the past I am saying that you cannot put emotion or pass judgement when you did not live through the same time or experience the same events. Is genocide and slavery evil? Yes. But were all those who participated evil or did they just accept what was common practice at the time?
@@TheJeff555 It wasn't common practice allover the world, we've evidence about priests protesting against slavery and genocide as soon as the 16th century. The US were simply one of the last countries allowing slavery and efficiently running ethnic cleansing policies.
But the point is that even if it had been common practice back then, we shouldn't stop judging them today. Common practice and ethics aren't synonyms and who isn't ready to judge history is doomed to repeat it.

"BUT IF HE WAS IMPURE..."
God I hate how fucking milquetoast they made Washington in this game. Washington wasn't so meek that he'd let either Haytham OR Connor walk all over him. Washington was known to have a fiery temper, and when angered was known to cow even the most stubborn in the room into submission.
Unfortunately most people don’t know what Washington was actually like because he’s treated as a saint in American history who could never tell a lie. The ac3 version does a good job at making him more accurate but still familiar to the average gamer
Washington wasn't reckless either and considering that he knows who Connor and Haytham are and what they're capable of and the fact that they're both bigger badasses themselves, he probably figured that getting in a fight with either of them will end badly for him.
@@rojaedavis8367 Washington would've shot Haytham in the head or chest before he could even start reading the letter that he said was private correspondence, as he took any sort of information of his operations getting out to the enemy very seriously, and even ran his own spy ring, not just stand there with his arms at his sides.
Also? Haytham's "big reveal" is impossible, anyway. When Connor's village was burned, Washington had already retired from the British military 2 years beforehand, in 1758, and didn't return to the military until 1775 when the Revolution began. And Haytham's math sucks; that scene is in 1778. Fourteen years prior would've been 1764, four years after Connor's village was burned. It literally couldn't have been Washington to give the order.
@@BlazeIgnitus Haytham is the Templar grandmaster with years of experience. I doubt it's the first time someone pointed a gun at him. And considering Washington didn't know about the Templars until Connor straight up told him, Haytham is very good at what he does. And even if he managed to shoot Haytham, he'd still have Connor to deal with, someone who gave the patriots a handful of victories and from his point of view, saw his father shot for over a piece of paper. Yes it's true, Washington didn't take shit, but he wasn't stupid either, and pissing off two walking one men army within stabbing distance is a very stupid idea.
And yes, I'm aware that Washington was already retired by the time Connor's village burned down, but either the devs themselves weren't aware of that or they're taking historical leniency for the plot of the game, so it is what it is.

@Luis Mauricio Santillán Durán
Ambos se basan en la misma historia.
Don’t get me wrong, I like the story of AC3 but since playing AC rogue I think it would have been better if AC3 followed that. In my opinion, multiple times in the story Conner stated he wanted his people (tribe) free and safe and that’s why he become an assassin, not because of a general want for freedom (such as his statement of “let the colonists fight there own battle) yet other assassins fought with armies directly. I think if after the scene where it is revealed that Washington issued the attack order on his village twice and that even though he worked directly with Washington yet he was imprisoned for “planning to assassinate” he would realize that the people he is helping aren’t who they say they are. Think of this, Sam adams wants his people free but owns slaves (free on paper but still can’t live a life) meanwhile Haytham snuck into a fort and freed native slaves and in the dlc died protecting his wife and her tribe.
Don’t get me wrong, both Templar and assassin philosophy is shown to fail. But sometimes the Templar view has more clear points
But why didn't Kaniehtio kill him?
She probably saw that Washington was just following orders.
Many people were just following orders and were killed...
