(06/12/2012)
James Iha is such a skilled guitar player and underrated song writer
Ya, ok...
He probably wrote most of their hits
He's one laid back dude. I met him once in Chicago, on New Years Eve 1997. He talked the same way. He seemed totally unaffected by anything around him 😂 Cool guy, though.
M.T. Ryan where?
DrGalazkiewicz at the Bottom Lounge
He's always seemed so laid back and nonchalant yet witty. Seems like a great guy
James: "You can't really put it into a category"
Interviewer: "Glam rock"
James: "No"
😂
Skilled, very talented and famous still humble for he is now
. No celebrity attitude... Now that's is Outstanding!!
It's always clear on James' face when he's "done" answering the question. It's like he goes back into listening mode. This is way more chill than an interview with Corgan haha
I could listen to Corgan all day.
I love this. James Iha here is the definition of chill.
Oh Iha, you have provided so many fantastic quotes.
Interviewer: "What kind of songs did you start writing in High School?"
Iha: "Ummm... Well you cant really put them in a category."
Interviewer: "How would you describe playing guitar?"
Iha: "Ummm... Powerful."
it's funny to see that people think they have to chose between Billy or the other bandmates
this dudes chill as fuck dont know why he aint in smashing anymore lol.
I like this guy’s demeanor. Very down to earth… nice to see. Being part of one of the best rock bands ever must have been amazing.
I used to have a mad mad crush on James iha when I was little
I knew someone who used to make edits of them beating up James Iha ._.
Gackt was mine 4sho
I was totally in love with him.
I remember seeing him on tv when I was like 7 and wasn't sure if he was a boy or girl. I crushed on him hard, regardless
james rules
Man, what a load of dumb question you did manage to throw down there. But the puzzled face he has throughout the whole interview is totally worth it, LOL. Cheers!
This reminds me of a therapy session
It reminds me of a damn deposition. "On the night of June 12th, 1984, were you seen buying a soda at the local QuickTrip?" Haha. Why is this dude so interested in nailing down unimportant specifics?
lmao exactly
@@latinolawdog5067 ikr he's fucked in the head.
James "Mehh.....eh....no......you know......meh......"
Interviewer "1982? Was is 1982? 1982? Was that during 1982?"
....
haha so spot on
LOL but now you have the internet... greatest part of the interview.
Nice interview, thanks for doing this!
He's not deluded like corgan. That's always nice to see. He reminds me of an old mate from high school
Sam Windmill I think Corgan thinks he's the only one who can do what he does.
+NoSuchThing99 exactly
Billy is definitely an ego maniac, but there's nothing deluded about him, the man really is a genius musically
"I guess you've done a lot of research here" LMAO
He's interviewed a lot of great musicians, but sometimes he does say some odd things that throw the person off." ..but now you have the internet...."
Love this guy
I'm laughing so hard omg "Yes....well.." This is disastrous. 😂
"It was like that (16 candles and breakfast club) but less fun." LOL
@Kevin Rachman fuck you.
Former Smashing Pumpkins guitarist.
That's what this guy is.
Like some of his solo work.
LOL, it's like watching a first date conversation spiral
people act like billly never james talk but its clear james just likes to sit quitely lmao.
Well said John, well said.
yes. thats true. you nailed it.
And THAT'S why Billy Corgan hogs all the answers during group interviews.
I like these questions. Not very typical interview questions.
David Marsilia there's a reason why 😂😂
i was laughing the entire time. "snake train?" "and the music- what was it?" "glam rock?"
"but now you have the internet."
One Love, brother, keeping it real, ignore the hype, Billy, ECT
Wow really level headed and intelligent.
An autopsy would be less sombre than this guy.
A pretty freaked out dude
I don't get that at all. Because he's not jumping up and down on the couch, he's 'somber' ?
Lol maybe its a cultural thing.
He seems very pleasant to me.
Not everyone is coked out David Lee Roth
He's so interesting
Cool
HE'S SO DEEP, BRO. :O
My favorite, deep music artists from the top, to bottom:
-Maynard James Keenan
-Adam Jones
-Danny Carey
-James Iha
-Justin Chancellor
-Paul D'amour
:3
So chill he bor abit
Laughed so hard at that comment the interviewer made at the end. "but now you have internet." so out of place, even James kinda had a glint in his eyes. Ha he was like "Yeah Now we have internet." what about it ha....
Epic Statement John..................
my nama james :D
I fell asleep in the first 2secs
how many times did he say I don't know even I don't know.Does somebody know.
Good interview, in spite of the interviewer lol
He seems like such a likeable person. Someone i would want to be friends with.
Its hard to imagine him not getting along with corgan. Or i guess i should say i could see corgan being the asshole...
If he was anymore laid back he'd be laying back more.
It seems like the interviewer is just making Iha uncomfortable as fuck.
Who is this guy talking in the background asking dumb questions?
How did Bas Rutten get a James Iha interview 🤔
haha :)
But now you have the internet...
lol this interviewer man smh...
Duhhhhhhh 68 + 10 = 88 + 4 is 82.... da derr!
Wut?
He needs a coffee
I like the questions about the James' guitar history and such. They're good! It's James making this vid suck. Or i dunno, maybe he's been asked these questions before in other interviews and doesn't want to go through it again.
The interviewer doesnt know how to flow with a conversation. So many non sequitur questions. I'm not putting the guy down, hell for my film class I interviewed one of my friends I grew up with who is a musician, and I was still rigid and not really willing to go down a conversational route
The fact remains that people like James Ija lose track of the fact that their original band of fame (Smashing Pumkins) brought them to a position to be interviewed by MTV, Etc., in the first place. It would be nice if they would remember that, and bury the hatchet... and give their original fans what they want. It's us fans that made them who they are today by responding to the awesome work that they did AS A BAND. But what do I know? I'm just a fan voicing his opinion. :)
I understand what you're saying , but I don't agree that they don't have an obligation of giving us more of what we've liked just because we liked it. They are not our slaves. Creativity and obligation do not flow in the same way. That kind of obligation would kill creativity. And remember, the music we liked in the first place was an act of spontaneous creativity that cannot be repeated. People need to go their own ways. They will lose some fans and gain others, but nothing remais the same forever. That's just life.
if Corgan wasnt a dilluded nut-case, megalomaniac
james isnt the issue
corgan is
go watch D'arcy interview she says
"Billy is the hog, hogs the fame, the picture, controls everyones instrumnets, he may be talented, but hes a SUPER control freak, I mean..obsessive (OCD) type...he has some issues, we all do, but we've reached out for years....and Corgan would say in interviews he was "interested" in working again with original lineup but that was HIS BULLSHIT pretense to the public, in reality behind screen....he was totally lying, and WE wanted to reach out, but he never responded, too busy, too important, too busy making new electronic pumpkins music, and ruling the world as a chubby 50 something guy living on the land, fat of the land...fuck him, but I love him too...b/c he started this...but you know what, hes been this way forever...creating the material from most of our early work was PAINFUL as hell with him, he was/is talented, no question ab out it...but its complete bullshit what he says in public, and what he does behind closed doors, are totally opposite/bi polar love letters, if billy wants to reunite, its on him, me...James...e've attempted contact numerous times....hes in love with himself, his image, his story...nobody's elses, but im not telling you anything new...b/c everyone knows this about BIlly....get your shit together, get your mind right, contact us, and lets do this...OR not...and keep b'sin everyone"
that was literally what she said
dont blame the others, corgan has been dillusional for quite some time...you wanna talk "fame getting to your head"
james is relatively level-headed, calm, quiet, rarely does interviews, he's done some solo works, i dont think hes FORGOTTEN about the long-time fans, and original material
I just think that (well it doesnt matter now b/c in 2019 they are back together) but guess who reached out and started this ? D'arcy....yes not Billy
very different people but they both dress the same HAHAHAHA
I'm talking about Billy of course
Haha. Very true. Maybe it's because they haver the same sense of fashion? :D
1982? The interviewer expected James to have math skills lol
It's not so much that, but usually you remember the years of significant events in your life. He should have remembered the year he first got a guitar from the songs that were playing on the radio at the time, etc.
1982? wtf?
I did get help. My doctor told me to stop watching boring videos of James IHA and stop responding to other you tubers posts.
im pretty sure james iha discovered a drug back in the 90s , jimmy probably helped for the contact
my god!this must be the worst interview ever!!
It’s not really the interviewer’s fault, James has the effervescence and presence of a sea slug nodding out on fentanyl
Glam Rock? ...no
hahaha
So dull!
I love James Iha, but damn… He seems so bored. And like he doesn’t want to be here.
Dumb questions asked.
Type D personality + years of heavy drug use = James Iha.
Seems like a good guy though.
Jesus Christ. This is grueling.
The interviewer is not even into music I think.
Good questions but james is so boring.!
I wish he didn't laugh like Butthead.
come on james, clearly you dont want to be there but try to be a little more professional.
personality = zero
neurochunk It’s a boring interview lol want him to stick his tongue out ?
Well he’s a Japanese American
hes a pretty laid back guy, pretty chill - exactly how you should be, personality is for teenagers who need excitement like bouncing around the room sticking their tongue out, when you grow up- you become normal...you know (for most of us anyway)
