They had indeed some complicated songs, however much of their material such as this, while not ultra-simplistic, is quite simple to be played. They more often opted for chorus-driven, hard riffs, energy-giving anthems to get the people grooving rather than merely showcase skills (which, as said, they did selectively in some pieces).
@@dinos9607 It's why I like so many of their albums. They've got the anthems, the simple rockers (read: simply rocking ;), and then EPICS scattered throughout. RW owns several of my all-time favorite metal epics.
This is what Heavy Metal is all about in my opinion. amazing riffs, amazing melodies, attitude and a killer chorus!!! This will be my music til the day I die!
If there's one band that deserved to be placed alongside bands like Maiden and Preist, it has to be Running Wild. Their discography is a literal treaure trove of incredible riffs and melodies.
2 years ago I had the great pleasure to listen to Running Wild live. There was no stage presence. BUT there were insane guitar riffs, great performance in terms of singing and playing, absolutely great! I really wish i could see them at least once more live! Crazy good band!

I listened Conquistadores 1st time in age of 12...now i am 42. Is in my Top 10 of Metal Songs, maybe even Top 5. Young people maybe would say that i am pathetic old ass hanging in music of 80es & 90es, but i cant listen the music of today...this is music for man with balls.

Germany and metal in europe...Probably the best after all. I'm Swedish, and love Swedish bands for sure, and many groundbreaking bands from here in different genres of metal/hardrock. Europe, Candlemass, In Flames, and more. But...Accept, Helloween, Running Wild, Scorpions are staples of their genre..Since I grew up in the 80s in Sweden, I loved these bands. Running Wild and their early stuff forged metal for me! Love maybe more the NWOBHW, but this feels close to the heart...

Ein Freund von mir, ich bin 53, hat vor mehr als 25 Jahren mal gesagt, dass Running Wild sowas wie das Bindeglied von Heavy Metal und Thrash Metal sind. Wenn man sich die späteren Alben (Pile of Skulls oder Black Hand Inn usw.) so reinzieht, so waren diese Jungs damals der NWOBM schon härtetechnisch schon um einiges Voraus. Aber ich liebe auch die Helden aus England, logo....

@@quattro4s I think Iain was the one who ended up naming the album.. or inspiring it at least (the lyrics to the song death or glory were written by Iain and Majk). There's an interview where Iain says he had death or glory written on his drumkit since he was 16.

I used to listen to Running Wild side by side with Iron Maiden, to me they were at the same level... I had all their albums but lost them when there was fire were i used to live...long live to RW!!
