- Most trails in Yosemite are open year around except Four mile trail beyond Union point and Mist trail due to the hazardous conditions.
There are no special trails for snowshoeing. Any trails are good for snowshoeing as long as the trailheads are accessible in winter.
In my humble opinion, Dewey point trail is the best snowshoeing trail for beginners. It's flat, easy and beautiful. There are even snowshoes rentals near the trailhead. Here is the trail map.

Yosemite Valley is also gorgeous in snow. But it's quite rare to see the snow covered Yosemite valley as its elevation is only 4000 feet. The snow melts away just in a couple of hours after sun coming out.
For the best winter hiking experience, the weather is critical. A sunny day after a winter storm is the best day for snowshoeing.

By far the best Yosemite winter video I have seen so far. The views are stunning. From the amount of snow in the ground I am sure it was hard work to hike is some areas, but it was well worth the effort. Seriously, thank you for uploading this video for other to enjoy from home.

Yosemite is not always covered by snow in the winter. In fact, it's quite rare to see fresh snow in Yosemite these days due to the draught. Hope we have lots of snow in February.
Been trying to think of an adjective to describe your videos......there are no words to do them justice. Way beyond exquisite, beautiful, etc. I think we are more in the “spiritual” realm. It depends on weather. Snowshoeing is fun if you do it on fresh snow. Keep your eyes on the weather and go the next day after snow storm. There is no rental shop in the valley. You can rent gear in REI.

The fresh snow doesn't last long in Yosemite as its elevation is not that high. It lasts only a few hours, not a few days after the winter storm.
I kept my eyes on the weather forecast and went to Yosemite just after winter storm to experience the winter wonderland.
So can you drive to the start of glacier point rd during the winter?
Yes, the road is usually opened to badger pass ski area in winter.

4월은 눈산행 하기 가장 좋은 시기인데 올해는 아무데도 못갔네요. 몇년전 스키 타다가 무릎 인대를 다쳐 한동안 산행 못간 이후로 처음입니다. 그래도 그때는 다리를 절뚝이며 가끔 다녔더랬죠. 지금도 그때 비디오를 보면 다리가 안구부러져 뻣뻣한게 보입니다. ㅋㅋ 5월엔 산에 갈 수 있겠지요?

Hey Yongsung, i'm a big fan of your videos! I had a question about winter backpacking in Yosemite. My friend and I plan to do a 2-night, 3 day backpacking trip next week in Yosemite. It seems Glacier Point is the best for that but it seems tooo long for us (20miles roundtrip?). We are not as fit as you and think realistically we can do 5-6miles a day. Do u have suggestions where to go? We are considering taft, sentinel dome, or Glacier point. Dewey seems too short for a 2-night, better for 1 night. Any suggestions would be great, thanks!.

If you do it in 3 days, it will not be very challenging. You can camp near the top of Yosemite Falls and hike to Eagle Peak as a day trip. Or you can camp the second night near Eagle Peak and hike down from Eagle Peak all the way to the trailhead on third day.

The winter wonderland may happen anytime between December to April. The tricky part is the fresh snow doesn't last long in Yosemite as the elevation is not that high. It lasts only a few hours, not even few days.

are snowshoes recommended for the 1 to 2 mile hikes? i want to do lower yosemite falls, mirror lake, cook's meadow, and bridalveil falls.
The distance doesn't matter. What matter is the depth of the snow. You will hardly need snowshoes in Yosemite valley as its elevation is only 4,000 feet. Not much snow accumulates there.
Drive up to badger pass which is 8,000 feet to do snowshoeing.

What’s the longest mile hike you can do in Yosemite in the winter??
It depends on the snow condition. I've hiked up to 10 miles on snowshoes.
Sometimes, I could hike less than 3 miles by hiking a whole day.
@@YongsungKim I plan to do 30 miles in a one day. Will be wearing snow boots for the hike which I’ve never done in a hike. Any grail trail recommendations that amounts to that?
This is 32 miles and my favorite hike in the winter condition although it was technically not winter. It was April.
