- Sean Payton joins Colin Cowherd on The Herd as Week 5 of the the season rounds to a close. They begin with the Los Angeles Rams, who had a disappointing loss to the Dallas Cowboys Sunday night. Colin asks Payton to lay out where the Rams are falling short, and whether or not they can get out of this losing streak. They also discuss the Green Bay Packers, who may or may not have been out-coached in their London face off against the underdog New York Giants. Payton also weighs in on the Matt Rhule firing, and explores what led the Carolina Panthers to that decision, and celebrated his former team, the New Orleans Saints, coming away with a win against Geno Smith and the Seattle Seahawks.

Is he going to talk about Trump?
This is something I look forward to every week payton is a great insight into the game
me too
it's the second best segment. Colin's dad Joel Klatt is the best
Really enjoy listening to Sean Payton. There's a couple of guys you've had on over the years that are great to just let talk... Ray Lewis is a great interview, Sean Payton, TJ Houshmandzadeh, et all. Really enjoyed this clip
did you sneeze when you were tying the last guy's name lol
Sean looks much more rested now than the exhausted look he had when coaching... He has lost weight also.
God bless. I hope he comes back to coach somewhere in a year or two. Miss that head hunter
Shows how stressful the HC position is not matter what age you are, young or old.
@@nelsonc6173 look at the eagles coach. He’s 41 and been a head coach in the nfl for two years and looks like he partied the whole month
I love Sean's coaching insights, brings a lot to the discussion. Thanks Colin.
Sean Payton is a smart human. No wonder he is so successful. Thank you for the opportunity to see players, managers, and coaches outside of the game where they can be themselves and thank you again for the quality of questions you ask them. Great segment.
Love the different perspectives from Sean
Sean's definitely already been offered the panthers job
He even said its an attractive job I would be so hyped if he went there
I wonder how much they'd have to give up to get him. The Saints are gonna want, what, 2 1st Round Picks to let him go to a division rival? Lol
@@turokken 10 first round picks! lol
I imagine he said “it’s an attractive job” cause that job offer is currently on the table and he doesn’t want to ruin his negotiating leverage
@@danielgalan1920 well im just glad to hear he's considering it lol
Glad he was able to come her and Say "Jon Gruden" was his friend. Coach got some balls at least..
As a lifelong saints fan thank you Sean for leaving us Taysom hill. He singlehandedly was the lifeline our season needed to keep our 7th seed hopes alive
I don’t think saying Gruden is a close friend is the flex that he thinks it is 😂😂
Most memorable Sean Payton move to me; onside kick to start the 2nd half of a Super Bowl (forget what year as it's all a blur) 🙂.
09-10 season
as a colts fan ...agh he stole a SB
lol
That's just candy. How about all the vanilla decisions made before and after that.
that move made him a legend because NOBODY saw that coming.
Sean payton stole that play from Mike Mccarthy Mccarthy did it first
These are always by far the best interviews on air. Sean is so fun to listen to
I love how Sean Payton always pumps up Bridgewater. Teddy could get a miniature statue with Hills on the side of Brees’ future grand statue
This is an excellent conversation
His interviews are the best the whole week. I look forward to his discussions, could listen to him all day!
WOW! What a great story at the end! We missed out on a Sean Peyton- Josh McCown 6x Super Bowl Dynasty run! What a shame, I guess Brees was a decent compensation
I love listening to these conversations with Sean Payton!!!
Congrats on 1m, Colin!
Is that applause in the beginning a real crowd?? Sounds pretty legit haha
As a giants fan I wanted Payton back...BADLY...but we got Daboll who is a phenomenal OC and now a burgeoning phenomenal HC. But man I dreamt of Payton coming back since he went to/left the Saints!
He's a fantastic offensive minded coach! Great guy all around based on his interviews too!
SEAN PAYTON TO CAROLINA PLZ MAN ILL GIVE AWAY THE STADIUM FOR HIS COACHING ABILITIES 😭🙏🏾🤦🏾💯
WOW! What interesting conversation about the Head Coach / QB selection process. Thanks Sean!
Sean Payton is carrying this show on Mondays
Mos def man
I want Sean Payton in Seattle if
Pete Carroll leaves or get's fired
Sean always takes the room over when he is on . Doesn’t let Colin cut in 😂
This is why I like Colin the most, the people he brings on are undeniable
McAfee's guest list is better.
@@andrewb4984 100% and the boys of the Pod make the show just watch
@@andrewb4984 guests might be better but the interviews are soft, Pats and ex player so he softballs all his guests and never asks them any tough questions
Yep. And Sean Payton referenced Bill Parcels, who he learned from. Listening to Parcels talk football is good stuff.
McAffee's better with the players. I like the way Colin picks Sean's brain.
When your done with your national talk show tour, just come back HOME!!!!!! 😉😏🤣
Please come to Carolina!!!
Very Very Insightful ... Sean Payton is dope!
Dear God please come be my head coach Mr Sean! We can’t handle any more Matt Rhules
Love watching sean display his knowledge and opinions on here
My favorite brand of paper towels... BOUNTY
These segments are super insightful. Good stuff.
Sean spitting so many facts
This is the best segment in sports talk all week by far
Listening to Sean Payton is always nice, hope he gets back into the league soon
He said a year or two subtly, I hope he comes back
If you need a head coach, you should do whatever it takes to woo this one. He's fantastic.
I think McVay needs to figure something out- suddenly his offense looks stale- time to innovate on the fly- let's see how good of a coach he is
Sean low key wants to come in and take Carolina to a super bowl just to prove he can do it with or without Bree’s
Coach Payton, can you please come to Denver? Colorado is a great place to live, and I think you would do an awesome job with the Broncos.
Sorry bro, he's already inked in to take the Chargers gig and create a dynasty with herbo
Nah he's coming to CAR for that big boy money 💰
Carolina has good young talent on defense. They have an improving o line and DJ Moore at receiver. Even if they trade CMC that’s an attractive job, they need a good QB in the draft and a good coach/play caller
Love hearing Sean’s knowledge
THAT'S WHO PANTHERS NEED AS COACH
You don’t see a first down….classic!
Does Tepper have Payton's number?
Coach is amazing! 👏🏾 👏🏾 👏🏾
How Taysom isn’t starting is a failure on the Saints front office and coaching staff.
Best segments are with Sean!!!!
thats a good coach and I love listening to him....football smart
Sean Payton come to Dallas We have a great defense and a above average QB you can do great this with America Team🔥🔥
Granite??!! Is Sean Payton a rock guy!?
He’s going to be the next coach of the chargers
Good interview with SP…i esp liked his honest opinion about not wanting to coach in college.
sean payton is awesome man. awesome.
Sean Payton to Arizona Cardinals how bout that I'm for it
Gonna miss this section once S.Payton returns back to coaching...
Sean Payton is really great to listen to, Dallas is going to be lucky to have him next year lol
He's 1000x worth the 1st Round Pick the Saints would be demanding for him. I would hate to see him go to Dallas though lol
If I'm david tepper that's the man I want to find my next qb.
Love when Sean on
One thing from this conversation I find interesting is whether or not we should consider extending halftime for maybe another ten minutes? One of the coolest things about football strategy is seeing adjustments and I think it is something that should be encouraged.
Absolutely not
@@BrianJones-cu2sx Curious as to why you are adamantly opposed to it?
@@tylerhull6347 as much of a football nerd I am, these teams already get an entire week to game plan. Some of the gamesmanship is the quick adjustments at halftime. Teams losing momentum with an even longer break could be a new factor along with the fact that most fans already think the break is too long lol. Almost 30 minute break mid game would seem like forever personally.
@@BrianJones-cu2sx Fair, and I think if I was asked to make the decision I would ultimately come to same conclusion. Their entire week is about being ready for that team, and the strategy is a huge part of the game.
@@tylerhull6347 for sure! But to your point, probably worth a review. Who knows. In 100 years half time could last an hour and they’d look back at us today and laugh lol. Either way.. worth a look! Good point brotha
Love these interviews
Sean is my favorite person to guest star on this show.
Over Daddy Joel Klatt 👀? Not gonna lie, I like Sean’s insight, I like how Joel punishes Colin 😂.
When you here Payton, you become to understand that there are not a lot of smart coaches. And this was a plus for Cowherd to have him on.
Love to hear this guy talk. Great insight, great stories and kudos to cowherd for just sitting back and letting him talk.
Wish Bengals could get Peyton…imagine that offense! Instead we have Zac Taylor who double reverses it on the 2yd line and on 4th and goal designed a play for Stanley Morgan on a shovel pass…WHAT😭😭😭
It was actually a good play. They should have kicked the field goal tho
Hmmm hadn’t thought about that before. But SP coaching Burrow and company is interesting…
Tepper please Hire SEAN !!! Don’t mess this up !!
Lol, Kevin *STOP IT!*
Sean aint goin nowhr.
Panthers are a dumpster fire!
@@leonardobraynen1524 we are definitely a dumpster fire / circus.. etc but I’m still keeping my 🤞🤞
I would like Sean Payton has his own show!
Somebody left that applause switch on a tad too long. lol
Sean please come to Pittsburgh and coach this offense please oh please sean
I can listen to coach talk football stuff all day
That thumbnail LOL
Daboll says he does that
Love that Payton is on the show weekly but why did the clapping go for so long 😂
Love Payton. Want him to coach my team now from this
Let’s Goooo Giants 💙
He’s gonna coach again.
Oh 100%
Carolina
I would sign Sean as my coach no matter what smart, well thought, and smart processes just clear minded and keeps it’s simple
“Right away “we” got a sack-fumble touchdown”. Sorry, Mr. Payton, you are not the HC of the Cowboys yet.
Whoever gets Sean next year or the year after it’s gonna cost a hefty price they have to trade for him
Why do they have to trade, did he not finish out his contract with the saints or what ?
@@charlesokereke4297 no they dont he retied at end of his contract he is a free agent coach
Man I can hear Sean talk all day lol
Yeah I always knew that. It’s fascinated me how analyst and people in the comments always talk about “halftime adjustments”, I mean, how much talking and game-planing do you think is happening in 15mins..
Imagine him in cincy with our weapons. We’d be 5-0 right now and that’s not even a lie! It’s shameful what Zac Taylor and our other staff have done offensively with arguably the most talented wide receiving group in football.
I think was his best appearance yet
To me, it looked like they got more than out coached!!!
Payton needs to be the Cowboys Coach...he can take them all the way.
It's going to break my heart to see Sean coach another team, but you know it's coming soon.
Would be nice to see him with Aaron Rodgers in Green Bay
@@mateussw93 probably not very likely but it could be an excellent pairing.
Did Sean say he's going to be back in the league "in a year or two"?
I wouldn’t mind Sean payton as the head coach
Sounds like Coach wants the AZ job. He’s analyzing that team.
Had to take my like back when Colin brings up Jimmy G - he was doing so well
Sean was a QB in the UK for the Leicester Panthers in the 90's. Their colours were the same as the Saints.
He’s absolutely interested in the Carolina job
Pretty sure he wants to go to Dallas
He's taking chargers gig next year. Speaking it into existence
Ur out of ur god damn mind
Hackett gets fired, Russ and Sean Payton cook?
Why would he go to a team with no qb?? He’ll be in Denver or with the chargers
Not giving the giants 85-86 defense credit is crazy to me
Well, not counting them as better than those Bears and Ravens defense is not exactly “not giving credit”. And as far as that goes, a bigger omission was the 2002 Bucs defense.
Mom Can we have a interview with Aaron Rodgers on a weekly bases?
Sure 😊
Sean Payton has entered
I hated what he did to the Vikings but he is a good reporter.
Great coaching is soo damn fun to watch in the NFL. Watching Andy Reid and Sean Payton find a way to put up 30 points every week is awesome.
I guess you mean great offensive coaching, since if those guys were also held responsible for their defenses’s performance over the years, their reputation would be much lower.
Colin always says penalties are on coaching..... BUT, not straight to a coach?
Love Payton's insight. It's too bad he's too smart and too competitive to stay out of the coaching game for long. I guess we better enjoy the peak inside his mind while it lasts. As a coach he'll obviously have to be a little more veiled
Colin cowherd has no idea what a “L3” is
