Scott. You say you're nowhere near a professional [insert project here], but your experiences with [said project] kinda leads you to sound very informative still. And yes, your projects in your van do not look the prettiest as you yourself admit. Though interestingly enough they all are as true to yourself as you are to your viewers. Reflects on your manner of how you manage yourself and the things around you. Philosophically speaking, with you it's What you see is what you get. It's good to know what to expect from your videos. Saves the guesswork out of everything. Nowadays it's a real relief!
Hi Scott My Motto is if it works that's all that matters. I hope it does for you. It was good to see you on here and thanks for sharing. As always take care.😊
Scott,I paid close attention. I'm going to look further into this. I have a reliable older Chevy express van. I have two 100 power panels that can be networked to give me 2 hundred. They are portable and just fold out and fold back up to store. I use an ordinary tractor battery hooked up to an inverter 1500._ its very compact and easy for me to handle. I didnt pit panels on my van roof because its a tall van and a challenge to climb up there for cleaning and preventative maintenance.I also have a second small inverter that plugs into my cigarette lighter which I only use to charge my phone and tablet.
Hi Scott, I am 6 minutes into your vlog and you still haven't said you are hungry or need a coffee..lol. I love your coffee ritual. You take it very seriously. I don't drink coffee but I am very happy to see you enjoy your coffee, roasted in Washington State...Great info about your new device.
We have a Jackery 300 and it works well for our little short trips. I don't know what we'd do if we needed more power. All that stuff is so confusing to me.😵💫 I'm glad there are people who can make sense of it! Too hot up there! We are having cool weather - low 60s, clouds, and even some mist.
As long as you're not in the union, there is unlikely to be any inspection of your electrical work, Scott! But if you ever change your mind about that quaint battery post, they do sell a little terminal mount fuse holder for 4 circuits, and mini busbar for same. If the output of your solar controller is sufficiently uniform, you might be able to power the new distribution device directly from the panels on a sunny day with the extra Anderson, instead of drawing down the battery.
I started to drive over and pick up one of the terminal mounts you speak of. But decided against it for now as I actually removed two different sets of wires. So there’s still plenty of space and room to torque the lugs down. Interesting idea about running directly off solar.
Good, informative vid! I’m keeping a notebook and buying/hoarding items I will need but don’t want to get too many things that might become redundant or possibly obsolete.
Well I certainly hope your new electrical thingy majiggy works out well for you. I could tell that you were explaining it but since I am techno challenged I pretty much watched the whole thing looking very much like a deer in the headlights. 🤪
Good job Scott. You really have to know alot of electric and other things when you have a van. And so far, you do alot of things. Your impressive with your knowledge. God bless😊❤
Your new charger sounds like an excellent solution. You mentioned the unit has an on/off button. You could turn unut off at bed time and turn it back on when you get up for the day. Just a thought. Have a good week.
Thanks for the info Scott, you are very knowledgeable about this stuff. If I can ever get hubby on board to van life, I think I'd have to have an electrician do our electric set up.
You could make a little cap out of plastic and glue holders on the sides of the device. That way you can cover the display at night while still using it.
just a thought, you could use the Anderson out plug to run your frig. (help thin out the spider web on your battery) love the way you do your channel, keep up the good work.
Hello Scott all the way from Singapore, don't know much about Electrical devices but got carried away with your knowledge and somehow enjoyed your video!👍😄
I've not seen one of them charger port devices for a power system, I like that. I've had communication with USB TIme customer service seems like a good company to deal with all though I bought my Batteries from another company. I need charging capability like that, I was thinking of doing a couple outlets around my build but like you said there's not really any good options that will fit the bill even the Blue Sea ones I wasn't sure about. That looks to be a nice unit please let us know how well it works for you. Thanks Scott for sharing your knowledge and videos with us I do appreciate it and take care my friend.
I have 4 chins 100ah batteries in my van and they have been great. I had the same problem with the light on my cooler. Cut a piece of cardboard to size and just put tape on the top so you can lift it up to read the display.
Good review Scott, I've love a follow up review on that charger in the future. Just returned home from the cabin in northern BC, sure could have used one of those up there. Converting from 12V to 110 to USB doesn't charge very fast for me.
my solar controller has a couple of led lights on it as at night is like the sun shinning. i put a small magnet over the led. that way i can move it when i need to

I believe they make bus bars that are for connecting multiple units to a battery post. It will "look" better and may bypass any future problems.
