Can’t beat Guy Lombardo, could listen all night, been listening to his music since 1948.

I’m somewhat younger than that, but I’ve been listening to him since the late 1960s as a preteen. I was, of course, familiar with him because of his then annual New Year’s Eve TV broadcasts. Plus, my parents loved his music, and they passed that along to me. They were listening to him before 1948! Their Guy Lombardo collection consisted of 78s from the 1930s through early 1950s. This “Live at the Tropicana” album was the first Guy Lombardo record I owned myself. I often played it throughout the house from my record player, or my parents borrowed it and played it on theirs.

I was making a list of times for this album for my own use. So, I thought I would share it. I concentrated more on the times than other information. Eric Patterson covered the other information excellently! The beginning of Side 1 and the end of Side 2 are exact time. Timing on the other numbers is pretty accurate, but not exact because I was manually skimming through.
I’m designating “Side 1” and “Side 2” in line with the layout of the original LP.
    Side One
    Introduction/ Auld Lang Syne 0:00-0:49
Powder Your Face With Sunshine 0:50-2:43
Is That All There Is 2:44-7:09
    High Society 7:10-9:39
    Jean 9:40-12:21
    Josephine 12:22-15:02
    Side Two
    Winchester Cathedral/ Coquette 15:03-17:20
    Tomorrow 17:21-19:25
    Cat Walk 19:26-21:23
    Somewhere My Love 21:24-23:50
    My Honey’s Lovin’ Arms 23:51-26:15
    Coquette/ Auld Lang Syne 26:16-28:13
As Guy Lombardo says at the end of the record “thank you, good luck, and good night.”

Eric Patterson. Thanks for that list I’m not trying to outdo you but I am going to post the actual times of the songs. It’s give or take a few seconds but I think it’s pretty close. That will be in a separate post below. In the early 1970s, I acquired an album identical to this. Brought back a lot of memories seeing it. It was my introduction to Guy Lombardo, and I acquired and bought a few more albums of his over the next few years.
I saw one of the other comments that questioned the 1974 date given for the album. I agree with that. The album came out earlier. I know that firsthand because the last track, Coquette/ Auld Lang Syne was the first song I would always listen to in the first minutes of New Years’ Day through most of the 1970s and into the 1980s. Per the Discogs website, it shows the release date as 1970. That sounds about right because I know for a fact that I played it in the first few minutes of 1972. I don’ remember if I had it the year before to ring in 1971, but I certainly had it by New Year’s Day 1972.
I don’t know if we are allowed to post links in here, so I’m avoiding doing that. But if you do a search for “guy lombardo is that all there is live at the tropicana album discogs,”

@@dogerecords5312 thanks for posting this. I have lots of great memories of this album from my early teen years to my early 20s in the 1970s and 1980s.

Eric Patterson. Thank you for your kind words. You are welcome and it is my pleasure. I’ve always loved that album. A few tepals ago, I had to give up my record collection in preparation for a house move.
I didn’t mind doing that because I had actually found many of the records I had (or at least the same versions of songs and instrumental music) and more were and are available on RUclips. But the Guy Lombardo Tropicana album was not on here. I was absolutely thrilled to see that it finally was.
As I think you realize, I certainly did not intend to upstage what you had already written in your comments. But, like I said in my comments on yours, I was doing the times for myself (saved it in my word processing program.), so I thought I’d share it with everyone.
I’ve seen quite a lot of those times lists with albums on RUclips. This was the first complete one I have ever done.
      Take care.

Must have been recorded before Carmens death, and released in 1974, because Guy mentions Carmen being there I believe, have heard some cuts off of this album, haven't the whole album until now, very good. Most of Guys later recording have been live recordings I have two of those, a Christmas album recorded live, as well as a live New Years Eve show recorded live at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel, that was recorded in 1973.
