Most people don't know that this song is basically an ode to cocaine. But it's arranged in such a way that it's not explicitly said and you could interpret it as meaning something about a significant other. The Weeknd is great because he's fairly open about his habits and puts that into his songs. This song was one of the first ones that brought more attention to The Weeknd and he has many great albums and songs. But you have to be expecting the unexpected because The Weeknd is far from the traditional kind of artist. That's why many people (myself included) love his music.

That weird guy was the same weird guy from The Hills video. He won a Teen Choice Award for this song. He talks about it in another song, Reminder. I clean house to The Weeknd all the time lol

@@MommaTaunT Because a LOT of people don’t really think about the lyrics. And he’s the king of making upbeat songs that are vibes, but have incredibly sad/suggestive lyrics that are just ambiguous enough. The line from Reminder is

I would say that Take My Breath from the latest album is more of a disco vibe, ESPECIALLY the extended version.
I have tons of The Weeknd songs I can suggest including some of my favorites from his darker past with the mixtapes.
But if I go by your comments of being a former disco queen yourself here are some of the newer, more mainstream material that may "move" you:
"In Your Eyes"
"In the Night"(choose the audio only versions because the music videos can have moments win which the music isn't played for sake of the story being told)
"Take My Breath" (either version is good but the extended track 0which you can find audio only- is a groovy masterpiece that is meant to keep people on the dance floor longer
"Sacrifice" (the version he does with Swedish House Mafia whom you may be familiar with)
"After Hours", the single ( a slow burn worth the wait)
"Blinding Lights"
"I Feel It Coming"
"Out of Time" (a slow jam to catch your breath in between the faster songs)
Not all of these songs are making my top tier list of Weeknd material but they may be more up your alley. But if you want to experiment more with his more darker material then you will be in for a treat on that front too.

That's a section of lyrics on the song Reminder which was on his album that came out after this one (it's on Starboy). I remember seeing him get nominated for it and all I could do was laugh and wonder how that one got by however many people are in charge of coming up with and finalizing those lists. I remember reading an interview somewhere that when you do a feature or work with The Weeknd the only way to really do it right is to "enter his universe" which is a darker at times, partying, emotionally vulnerable, and just overall instability caused by the chaos around him. Each one of his albums has a totally different sonic vibe to it yet he makes it all still sound like its meant to be together. #XOtilweOD

I'm a Mom too, too Teenagers. Last Spring I asked my 14yr old what was he listening to in his head phones, then he said The Weeknd 😯Then he recommended Blinding Lights, & Starboy since then I've been Hooked I don't like The Weeknd's older Tracks but Afterhours is Amazing 😍 Even Abel's Explicit Stuff don't bother me, It's part of his Style, it needs to be in there, to reach younger & People that look up to him.
