AWESOME!!! With your help and the xda forum, I finally get my new Nexus 7 rooted! I can finally use my OTG! YEAH Thank you so much and please keep up the GREAT work!
I reinstalled the latest google usb driver for hundred times but the adb reboot bootloader returns an "error device not found" in debug mod. the manual reinstallation of usb driver from the sdk kit did not help
Lol as mentioned in the video "you could permanently damage your device" as in turning it into a big paperweight. Take caution when modding any device, I will be posting another video by Thursday explaining how to do everything shown in this video but for any Nexus device running any version of Android. Perhaps you might find that method easier.
i got some problems mine is already unlocked but i cant root can you explain to me how root it, in the past i already rooted the device but after new updates i cant root it
hello guys, my problem is my Nexus 7 is "LOCK STATE - locked" and what ever I try to do I always reach a white Google sign on a dark sreeen. Even when I reach the Recovery mode. My tablet is not recognyzed by the PC when it is USB plugged. Is somebody able to help me. Many thanks in advance for your support.
Hi, I followed all of your instructions but when I open up OTA RootKeeper it says my Device isn't rooter, but the app does have root permission granted - any idea why?
Thank you for the video but could u make a video explaining what is bootloader and what is it for and the other team thing? Do u need to do them all just tho get root access?? Sorry if I sound stupid but no body ever explains what each thing is for. That'd be a really helpful video. Thank you
Okay to get only root access check out another video in my channel called "any Nexus root + unlocked, etc." In that video method it is much easier to ONLY root. As for the terminology that is an excellent question. I could make that video but it would require an extensive amount of research plus with uni starting again it's a little tough. I'll definitely make it but just not sure when.
Hi Babbling Boolean, I want to root my Nexus 7 (2013) 16GB WifI JSS15R. It is still on stock android 4.3, but there is a KITKAT 4.4.2 system update auto-downloaded by Google and awaiting Install. If I root now, will that 4.4.2 update download would also vanish? How can I update to 4.4.2 after that? Also what steps to follow if suppose I now do that KITKAT 4.4.2 update and then want to root the device? Pls help.
Rooting does not prevent updates from showing up and downloading. However, if your device is rooted and you update then you have to reroot your device for the new Android version. For Android 4.4 watch this video, it's easier and universal for any Android version on almost any Nexus device: ruclips.net/video/ouCMqweipX4/видео.html
Expect a new video by Thursday showing how to root + unlock the bootloader + custom recovery for any Nexus device running any version of Android. You might have better luck with that method.
Note to those saying your devices drivers are not up to date/not working, make sure you device is connected as a camera when you push files to the device.
BTW, if it helps anyone, when I first installed Android SDK it and then plugged in my nexus it didn't install the drivers for some reason. I had to go into Device Manager in Win 7 and point the Nexus 7 device driver to C:\Android\android-sdk-windows\extras\google\usb_driver
Aside from loading custom ROMs which allow the user to change the entire Android experience, there are plenty of things to do with a rooted device. Search in my channel "top reasons to root".
Now I'd recommend everyone try a program called Wug's Nexus Root Toolkit. It is AMAZING and has worked flawlessly for me. Much easier than the manual root and all that.

Does it work also with N7 LTE? From the forum it only mentioned "flo" which I think is the codename for wifi version. TIA.
I'm at the part where you have to type fastboot flash recovery. the command prompt says cannot load recovery twrp

I unlocked and rooted the device once.

Do I need to unlock again before rooting?
Thanks!

thank you very much - in depth tech made much easier :)
Yes, it only works with the wifi only version of the 2013 nexus 7.
It's quite easy to unlock/relock in my other video method, search my channel for "any nexus root + unlock bootloader"
