Malaki po talaga ang sakop ng Good Earth bldg noon except sa may dulo which was a bank (Philtrust?) and was a Shoe Lane store adjacent sa old Plaza Fair. Vern, thank you for producing this video. As I remember walking in this place, beginning from the corner of Bustos Street and Rizal Avenue the buildings are Good Earth Emporium, next is ideal theater and SHOE WORLD (now Philtrust). SHOE WORLD has a nice large glass display window and upscale modern design men and women shoes on display. I remember that was in early 1970's. As a kid back then, I love standing beside the rotating conveyor candy bucket where you can pick different candy flavors, put them in a plastic bag and hand it over to the sales lady to weigh in and pay. Nice di ba! Good earth emporium is a wonderland for the kids back then. They have apparels, small grocery and shoes. At the 4th floor I remember is where the high end import toys ( battery operated toys) are on display. There was a small cafeteria called "G.E.E. luncheonette" where I first tasted the "Club Sandwich'. That sandwich was a treat back then..never heard of French fries before.. At the 5th floor is the amusement floor, they have the early coin operated video games, pinball, carousel and other small rides. Adding some trivia, at bustos street there was 2 entrance to Good Earth. A bigger sliding door for customers and the other is for employees and delivery receiving area. Nung 60s Mr. Fern, halos wala pang RTW(ready to wear clothing). Kailangan mo pang bumili ng tela para makapagpatahi ka ng damit for formal wear. You can choose whatever material clothing you like and then slowly dumagsa na ang mga rtw, imported shirts and dresses, pants, etc. no need for modista at sastre.
So sad..the Avenida Rizal we knew is gone, it is all LRT now. But, going back, from Ideal, we have Good Earth where Mc Donalds is now, corner of Bustos st., where you find Besa's shoe store and repair, next to it is La Perla Restaurant and directly across is Crispa Dept. Store. On the same side is the side entrance to Good Earth. I remember Good Earth gave free 7Up drinks to everybody going inside, customer or non-customer. Continue walking and you reach Universal Theater, next to it is Dalisay Theater where Tagalog movies are shown, then close to Recto is Avenue theater, then Alemar's Book Store. Across the street, State theater which is Emerald Circle now. and next to it is Ever theater. Continue walking on that side and we reach Fairmont Ice Cream. Those were the days. Memories only now. Good job Ka Tubero. Tuloy ang ligaya.
Shopping district noong araw yan!
Daming pontential ng Quiapo (Avenida) to be an ideal tourist destination (like night markets of Bangkok, Hanoi, Ho chi minh, Seoul) ❤️. Hope to see na magkatotoo tong pangarap ko.
You forgot to mention Palace Theater which is a 2nd run theater on Ronquillo Street near corner Rizal Avenue. I saw on your video footage that is now a building. It used to show double feature movies.
Great vlog as always. I have a question, though. Do you plan of posting 4K videos in the future? This way, more details will be visible like building decorations, etc. More power to you.
Hi Ka You Tube. I was born in P Campa Sampaloc Manila 1953 and i saw the grandeur of the city of Manila. In Rizal Ave., Me and my dad used to see movies here, and it was so clean and nice. I suggest, try to research Bungalow restaurant in San Marcelino. You need to talk to some old folks that was living in Manila. Thanks
Fern, I mean 2nd class theater unlike State, Ever, Ideal, Avenue, Universal, who are 1st class theaters. On the opposite side of the theater is the Ramon Lee Fried Chicken Restaurant which you featured in another vlog.
I'd be curious to see how the area looks like now since most of the pandemic restrictions have been lifted? Is it as clean and nice with no illegal vendors coming back and cars, jeeps, tricycles parked illegally? You should make a series of videos revisiting all the places you covered back when you were filming and following the clearing operations team a couple of years ago. Something to think about, Fern.
@@kaRUclipsro Yes, something like that. See how effective the clearing operations were...and to see if those useless baranggay officials are finally doing their jobs and maintaining cleanliness and order in their respective districts.

@@kaRUclipsro anong double B sir? 😬
Nung 60s Mr. Fern, halos wala pang RTW(ready to wear clothing). You can choose whatever material clothing you like and then slowly dumagsa na ang mga rtw, imported shirts and dresses, pants, etc. no need for modista at sastre.
Ganda
Nice one po, I heard about that Esquire Theater
12:00 tama yan kabayan, nandyan ung IDEAL dati
Shopping district noong araw yan!
😅☺️🙏🙏🙏
Otis yung may magadang arch, tapos yang sa McDo, dating GoodEarth Emporium! Then, next corner of Burgos St. is the Avenue theater!
I grew up in ongpin and almost everyday nasa avenida ako
Idol feature mo nman ang lumang slex, nlex at edsa.thank you.
Sigurado 3 more terms, mas maganda pa ang Maynila.
Katabi ng Ideal Theater ang Good Earth Emporium.
Streets look really clean. Wow!
I know right or maybe because its still early?
Good earth mcdo kanto ng bustos o bustillos st.
☺️🙏🙏
Those were the days.
2nd
Avenida Rizal/Rizal Ave., truly iconic & named as the entertainment-lifestyle strip of Manila 🤩💖🎥🛍

Thanks
☺️🙏
May mini carnival sa itaas ng Good Earth Emporium.
Ganda ng vlog mo idol❤
Take 2?
@@kaRUclipsro Yes, something like that. See how effective the clearing operations were...and to see if those useless baranggay officials are finally doing their jobs and maintaining cleanliness and order in their respective districts.
