Hi. I do modifications to my pens a lot to make them workable for my taste and functionality. So here is my disclaimer: If you don’t feel comfortable or confident to do this mod to your pen, then don’t.

Would it be possible to use a syringe to add ink to the original refill?

Possibly. There are other pens, like Curva Pen, that uses this type of inking insert and theirs is refillable using a pipette and dropping ink into it. You would have to be very careful removing the back of the insert so as to not cause damage so it will fit back onto the cartridge. It was difficult for me to remove it just to see how the ink is supplied.
