Im from Lobg Beach, California and I’ve been exposed to all kinds of music styles and artist (hip hop, heavy metal, classic rock, etc, and I have to say Gustavo Cerati (singer, lead guitarist for Soda Stereo) is by far my favorite musician of all time, and I’m not even Argentinian. Besides his trajectory with Soda Stereo, he also had a very impactful solo career. Sadly, he passed from a coma in 2014, but this man is from another planet. Realmente en Argentina no tenemos nada que envidiar del rock de USA o de Europa. Destacar que ni en USA excepto Miami ni en Europa se hizo giras de Soda Stereo. Fue una banda que sólo se disfrutó en Latinoamérica y orgullo de Argentina. Si que tuvimos y tenemos lo mejor del mundo. Mi experiencia de ir a recitales de Soda es estar en el mismo Paraíso. En otros países del primer mundo no saben el orgullo y la felicidad de ser Argentino. Ellos creen que somos subdesarrollados y que somos como indios. Pero apenas acaban de conocer parte de la Gran Argentina.

Welcome to the rabbit hole. This song came out in 1987 and MTV Latino played the heck out of it the way regular MTV pushed Bon Jovi's "...Bad Name". I became a fan then. SS went on to release their most popular record (Canción Animal) in 1990 and then two years after that their absolute best record, Dynamo. I would recommend you listen to something called "Corazon Delator" ('87), then "De Música Ligera" (the absolute most popular rock song in Spanish bar none) and then whatever from Dynamo. Do it in that order. It'll make sense the way that it makes sense to hear "I Wanna Hold Your Hand" and "It Won't Belong" before you hear "I Am the Walrus".

All the reactions I saw in other videos from professional or non-professional people are surprised at how well Cerati played and sang that it was not an easy thing to do apart from his vocal qualities.

Check out their song and official video for “ZOOM” which has a very different vibe. Kind of 60s sounding and looking (video). Also, you should check out the band Mana (from Mexico) who have an amazing variety of songs and musical styles since the 80s to present day. Check out the “Mana MTV Unplugged” concert video with every song outstanding, but, in particular “Vivir Sin Aire”
