I rented this one probably back in 1989 for $5. Then I went outside and looked for a neighborhood kid to play “ninjas”with.

I hate any karate movies with guns they really shouldn't have horses either but guns no I like the fake karate movies when they running on trees and coming up out the ground and running on water
You're talking about wuxia, which is kung fu and not karate. This is a ninja movie, which is not kung fu or wuxia and is sometimes karate.
I was thinking the same thing. White men as ninjas makes it look more fake as well!

These are bottom of the barrel Ninja movies. Not real. These used to be in the dollar movie bin at any 99 cent store back in the day haha if you want real ninja stuff look up Toei or the shaw brothers movie Shaolin Challenges Ninja aka Heroes of the East

Ninja movies ruined the genre in the 80's for the US.
Yeah I notice the difference between the authentic ninja movies like Toho using an all Japanese cast like shogun assassin vs the americanized one with a white guy with ninja on his headband in a colorful suit lol

Just blame Godfrey Ho. He directed this and like a hundred other cheap cash in "Ninja" movies with the sole purpose of making as much money for as cheaply as possible so he could bleed the trend. He would take footage from movies in public domain and then film new scenes based around that film in one afternoon, put it together, then call it a "movie" lol
ninja destroyer is great US ninja movie, but iron monkey better ninja movie. that only because it was made more recent
