You should compare your orrery to the antikithera mechanism as we now know it. If you can reach that level of accutacy, you can demonstrate how far we have come in around 2400 years.
Thank you everyone for your positive and inspiring comments. Thanks to John for making machining accessible to millions of folks through his energy, enthusiasm, and incredible clarity.. I think John, Jimmy, Chris, and Giacco et. al. demonstrate and embody the positive side of what social media could and should be. I owe a great debt to all of them. Thanks again - Mike

Having a house in NYC is the most impressive part of the video, but fitting all that awesome stuff into it without it feeling like a cluttered mess is a close close second.
@@clonkex I don't know what I was thinking. The only tactical stuff we have to see through walls is pulsed ultra wide band lower frequency stuff. Colin Furze is digging all around his property and supporting it properly, amazing channel.
I've never met or heard of this guy before, but he's already an inspiration to me! Giving engineers a place to work that's clean and comfortable is such an amazing thing. I think unconsciously every engineer wants to have their shop clean, organized and comfortable.
OH MY GOD! I'm such a huge fan of Richard! The first game I ever played back in the days on my Apple II was Ultima... and it really changed my life. Amazing to see him here. Such a great person. THANKS!
I recognized Richard's name from my childhood playing the Ultima series games on our Apple IIe computer system. The Ultima series was very instrumental in teaching virtues to live by. Thank you and thank you NY CNC for cool CNC videos!
This is Jedi-level workshop design and organization... not to mention the projects being worked on. Kudos to the awesome knowledge and work, thank you for sharing!
1 word....WOW!!!!! this dude is ultra organized ...this whole shop is genius!!!! i can just imagine the total cost in equipment and the hours it took to be so efficiently organized!! i think this dude might be the real Batman!!!
Insane quality workshop. I've watched this 3 times in a row trying to grasp all that's in there - I guess I have to watch it at least 3 more times. It is almost unbelievable that you can do detailed work like jewelry in the same space as operating a plasma torch, TIG/MIG welders and the belt sander.
Unbelievable!, an engineer, computer scientist, programmer, inventor & machinist all in one !! What a dream come true and to be successful at it. Good luck with all your inventions and hard work, "Geniuses are born NOT created" Enjoyed the video, ............Jay

Amazing shop. I think you get more done with all the tools in a small place, than if you had a large place to spread them apart. This is where the “less is more” applies.
Last point was really key. I know many people who tinker, myself included, but very few people complete projects into something you can hang in your living room. The final 10% is what separates true makers from mere tinkerers.
I had the absolute delight to visit Mike and his workshop together with a few other fellow creators a few years back, it's definitely one of my top experiences. What an amazing guy, and devout creator and as he says himself, lunatic! Was awesome meeting you Mike, hope we can make it a repeat in the future! 🤘
I'm just speechless it would take me an hour and some itemized text to comment everything I have to say about this video . Wow just wow, its cool ,mesmerizing , inspiring . Its a man's man play ground / dreams of many lll great job with everything 👏
I'm absolutely gobsmacked....I would never leave the shop. beyond amazing. now think back 110-120 years and picture the huge shops of old run by an old steam engine or perhaps a gas or kerosene engine and one giant leather belt connected to a wheel, driving dozens of other belts and wheels to run tens of dozens of machines...
WOW! Really inspiring video! And John please don’t get me wrong, you are fully responsible for making me decide to buy a brand new HAAS SMM (+ laser calibration) but this video might be just the thing that I needed to realize that I need more fun in my life. Buying new cars is so over rated. Having a geek cave is just what I need! Oh, and I need to tuna hang my lathe. That is on my bucket list now!
Incredible! Impeccable organization. Such an amazing shop, even if it was set up in three or four times the floor space that you've used. Your skill set is really daunting; truly inspiring. I wish I knew a tenth of what Michael demonstrated. So glad you shared your shop tour with us; really happy to have seen this video.

That place is cray cray. I don't have the technical know how to use most of that stuff. But man, wouldn't it be nice to have a place that setup to accomplish nearly any imaginable project.
wow, I thought getting tools into my basement was hard... Very cool & efficient setup!
I love your work, we still need to get together!
Now you have to stop complaining about it.. someone has it worse! And didn't you just get a work shop?

You and I both need a workshop like this.
