I walked in to his shop back in 1990, Slappy white, was behind the counter. The day after Foxx died, I took a big red piece of cardboard and wrote on it "Redd, i'll miss you. Your biggest fan, Dan" and put it up on the gift shop window. It was in the paper the next day. I wish I could find the clipping. I just felt so bad that he passed, I had to do something to say how I felt. He was my all time favorite comedian. I saw him in '89 live. And we used to pass by his home daily. I remember the Sanford and Son truck parked out front. Once, we drove.by, he was standing out in the street, we stopped and waved, he waved back and smiled. I sure miss him!
Very nice!
Doesn't look like anyone lives there now. Sad. Sanford and son is still funny after fifty years.
I think it's a maintenance biz now.
@@famousgraveswithdiamonddave thanks. Didn't think of a business.
Look at you! Your channel is finally growing and rightfully so! Always enjoy every thing you do!
Thanks, friend. Appreciate the encouragement. :)
Great video bro interesting stuff 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Thanks!
Hi Dave, I thoughtly enjoy the Redd Foxx Video. He was one of my Favorite Comedians. I read that when Sanford and Son Premier on NBC, The Producers was only paying him $6000.00 an Episode. Where he's Contemporaries Carroll O'Connor of All in the Family, And Alan Alda of MASH, Getting $100,000 per Episode. I can understand why he was Angry and Mad. This was new to me, About Mr. Foxx making $80,000 a week. As far as the IRS, They come after Celebrities, Comedians Bud Abbott, & Lou Costello the same way, Took most of their Properties as Well. Mr. Redd Foxx can now RIP ALWAYS 🙏💙🙏🙏❤️. Dave you Too COOL 😊😊
Thank Jill. He did pretty well here at the Hacienda. Were you the one who requested Mary Wells, and Bobby Womack?
@@famousgraveswithdiamonddave Yes, I am Dave, Because when you do Videos which is not easy to do. Your Narration is Great. Dave you're the Man, Keep up the Good Work 👍👍👍📸📸
You are very kind. I'm going next w/e. Should be up in 3 Sundays. I read up the night before in the hotel room and then go out and vid. Sometimes I miss things that I wan't to bring up.
I remember his old house being a real estate office but I suppose they must have had to moved out of there for probably Fred’s ghost making noise there. The tour guide even said that when the pool was still intact and open there would be a lot of noise there, but when the pool was drained and filled in with dirt, the noise from the pool had stopped. The tour was one of those Las Vegas haunted tours I and my wife went and another was a mobsters tour of Las Vegas.
I guess Redd Foxx really loved his privacy at his house and didn’t want to have a lot of visitors to house, if were those oleanders and other natural barriers to keep people from looking in there.
I even know Redd Foxx did some albums where he did do his comedy acts on them and yes he did cuss and swear on those albums. He probably didn’t perform at too many clubs as he could have gotten arrested there for cussing and swearing on stage as comedians from the 50’s and into the 60’s did, especially Lenny Bruce. Rock star Jim Morrison of the Doors also got arrested too for cussing and swearing on stage at the band’s concerts. It took until the late 60’s to early 70’s for laws prohibiting cussing and swearing on stage to be changed where today all comedians do it today on stage.
Well said and informative as usual.
Hey Dave I was looking forward to this after you told me about it. Enjoyed this one too.
I appreciate you being loyal. :)
You're welcome@@famousgraveswithdiamonddave
Hi... great video. Since I live in Las Vegas I have seen Red Foxxs house , store and grave. How did you get the word Diamond in Diamond Dave?
Hi Neighbor. Spa Guy put in on me. He does Elvis vids.
His real name was John Elroy Sanford. Great video. From Where in the mid-west did you live?
Thank you. Lafayette IN. Lived in OH too.
Great video Diamond Dave. I have been near his house, store and grave. How did you get the Diamond in Diamoñd Dave?
Spa Guy tagged me.
Quick FYI....the house sits on Eastern and Rawhide. Just a block or 2 west on Rawhide over Eastern is the Jerry Lisner home. Jerry was tied up but not connected to Frank Cullotta and Tony Spilotro. Frank took Jerry "out" there and they dumped the body in the pool. This was loosely shown in the movie Casino. Do you do Chicago Outfit history in Las Vegas also?
Thank you for the info. I'd be interested in this for my True Crime channel.
If you go back to hillside memorial park culver city California, woud you go and visit all celebrity graves like burt bacharach, larry king and many more
I did a vid on Hillside already. It's on channel. I didn't find Bacharach though.
DD, Is this home still rising in value even though it sits empty?
There is a maintenance biz there now. Hence the fence :)
What sort of things were sold in Redd's store?
Similar to Walmart. No clothes other than t-shirts.
@@famousgraveswithdiamonddave Thanks
@@kellyadams3078 Welcome.
