Lovely job, great to see all the tips should a problem arise! I am the proud owner of 482 which looks about as similar to yours as could be imagined. Its condition is generally very sound if a little tatty but still the best looking boat on the water! The one problem I will have to address is a leak between centreboard housing and keel which I guess I will have to address somehow. Interesting to see you had to deal with the same and how you did it. many thanks,
    Alistair

My dad's first boat, when I was a kid in the 80's was a wooden Wayfarer, my annual job was helping to strip and revarnish the deck ... although I often found ways of dodging !
He went on to building a 10m steel sailing boat, which I have been in charge of for many years on the west of Scotland.
Wayfarers are perfect ! I do wonder dad's old wayfarer is still being cared for.

You have inspired me a bit. I am part way (too many years it seems) thru restoring a 1960's Tamar Class sailing dinghy of a very similar design. There were hundreds built in Tasmania Aus back in the day as they were cheap and simple to build. Alas many people found them to be a very good power boat , so many ended up at the beach shack to rot. Tasmania is an island with many great sailing areas. At the head of the Tamar river is the city of Launceston where my boat was built. Great sailing estuary in the right conditions. I will be 60 late this year, so better get my finger out and finish.

Functional⛵️Restoration gets the boat back doing what she’s meant to do... carrying those who love and care for her into adventure after adventure, getting wet, drying out and getting wet again, while all the experience of wind, weather and sail create new memories for family and friends...

Next time you get a water soaked boat try Cirrus Systems stripper, it is water based and just washes off with a hose taking paint and varnish with it, saves hours of work. I have no connection with the company other than having used it's products, The least impressive thing about the product is the realization of the time and money wasted stripping coatings in the past, quite sickening really.
