I would ask what the company name is and then I'll verify if it matches. Dude not ONCE said "Cox",kept repeating "our company". Biggest red flag right there.
These bottom feeding turds call me every day. With probably the majority of the United States receiving these calls, one would think the state would do something about it.
the very same voices called me this morning!! i wound 'em up pretty good, too. i didn't get a 'phak you', only a hang up. as long as they're playing with me then they're occupied and leaving some other poor bastard alone. thanks for posting.
I got this call yesterday 9/1/23. I called them out as scammers after five minutes saying almost verbatim exactly what you just put in this video. And they ended the call in the exact same way with me as they did with you. Then I got a text message today saying that the cable company needed to come out because I had just upgraded my cable box. That kind of freaked me out and I called them and they said they didn’t touch my cable box. So I guess they’re getting revenge.
I usually ask them what company they are calling from. Nine times at of ten, they respond. " Spectrum." I then inform that Spectrum isn't even available in my area.
My wife played along with theses scammers for a couple days. She pretended to be an elderly woman, and said that she didn't have a credit card, but could send a cheque. They actually gave an address in Florida where she could send a cheque! She played along and when the scammers called, she told them "I'm not feeling well enough today to get out to the mail to send the cheque". They called a few days later and my wife pretended to be the cleaning lady. The cleaning lady had to relay the news that the elderly woman had passed away the day before... The scamming thief on the phone had the nerve to say "But she owes us money!"....
I've just started getting these phone calls. The man on the phone this morning told me that he couldn't lie to me since the call was being recorded by the Better Business Bureau. I think the calls are coming in from outside the United States. I used to get calls asking me to upgrade my Medicare coverage (don't have Medicare). It always sounds like the same guy.
My card company lets me create virtual card numbers with whatever limit and expiration I want, and cancelable instantly. I think I'd try giving them one with a $1 limit. Then you could string them along for a while more with, "Are you sure it was declined? I have a $25,000 limit on that card. Try it again."
I created a script for these guys with fake names, birthdays, SS number, credit card number (an expired visa gift card), somewhat valid spectrum account number (a real number with some random digits replaced), and pin code. They would call me several times a day. Really not sure why they ask "how many TVs do you have?", as it should show up on the account - I really should have tried to argue with them it was entrapment saying that they were trying to get me to say I was stealing cable by having too many boxes.

When he says "In your area", you should ask "And what area is that?"

Great Job. Keep wasting their time. They have stolen millions of dollars especially from the elderly.
When I get these calls, I always ask "If I call my local office will I get the same deal?" If they say Yes, I hang up!
Thank YOU for recording and posting this.. YOUR time and energies are well appreciated.. {big smile}

They called me today and wanted me to pay $1000 for the fee 😂. I wasted their time for a half hour before he realized I was messing with him 🤣
Thanks for posting this. I was wondering what the MO was going to be. Get these calls all the time.

If is P.O. Box, give it to local Police & they can Inform Postal Service, as It's "MAIL FRAUD".
That’s epic, nice

i keep this guys on the line as long as possible, give them random numbers for cards or check routing info
I love it when they transfer them to a superwisor!
In order to avoid telling them the cable service name, I always give them the name on the remote that came with the TV. "IT SAYS SONY!"

A company never ask for a 16 digit number of a card........this scammer is out to steal money😂
