Always great to watch the old and reunion vids. Still, they were musically at their best with Bruce and Eric Carr.
The original 4 can fight and bicker all they want, but every time they got on stage is just magic. And for me, nothing will ever beat the 1996 reunion tour era.
Totally agree! 1996 was probably the best they ever were.
💯 percent agree with you, the fantastic 4 were amazing and had that special chemistry that cannot be denied!!!!
Um, maybe I am old-er(?), Rock And Roll Over tour was great. Not as much fx as Love Gun, but a Rockin Set.
AMEN!
Has to be as good as Kiss ever was, even in the early 70s. They were all on the honeymoon again. Peter and Ace really had it together. Paul's voice was still strong. They were young enough to still have great energy. Everything about this performance is strong. Glad this moment in time was captured.
Totally agree, they were really playing well here
Amen!
Seen them myself starting in the late 70s & I seen them 14 time over the yrs this was my favorite tour of ALL TIME ...
@@user-xf6uv9ur5n so cool that you got to see all those shows!
100% they were on fire here and sounded perfect.
The genuine happiness on Peter's face, specially during New York Groove, is just priceless.
No doubt brother!!! I am a die hard Peter Criss fan, and he was happy and having the time of his life!!! Amazing, all 4!!!
This is how the band was meant to sound. Nobody can replace The Cat and The Spaceman. I will never get tired of seeing Ace shredding it.
Ace was never "The Spaceman", it's a much later fabrication tied to Tommy. Ace was Space-Ace! Also, Peter's character is The Catman.
Ace is the man....cannot be replaced or duplicated, without Ace it is not Kiss in my books
....and Peter....they stole the show....
@Nexus Six Why? Eric is great. And Tommy does fine too.
@Nexus Six lol, Eric has a great voice! He's very melodic and has a great sounding timbre and raspiness. What's horrible about it? And what is a "poorly written song"? You sound like a bitter fan that's stuck in original Kiss.
THIS boys and girls was Kiss! Ace rejuvenated and motivated. Peter smiling and timing perfect. Paul and Gene at their absolute best showmanship. Got goose bumps watching this again. So good!
My boys rockin...🤟
how good was Ace doing "New York Groove"?
Lol, I feel bad 4 u
@@jasonpeters9865 don't....
@@MrManfly lol, it's pretty sad...
One thing I always liked about this clip is that Pete looks to be having the time of his life!
yeah, the smile at the start of new york grove is great :)
I love seeing Peter smile!
A kid from Brooklyn playing under the Brooklyn Bridge. Thats some fairy tale shit.
You'd smile too if you were getting his paycheck. And he still didn't get the same as the other three. Read his book.
@@surfsup5757 He and Ace were employees, no longer full partners. Ace was getting $10K more per show than Peter.
It hurts me that MTV went from this to pregnant teenagers
Thing is, MTV never made money with music. It wasn't until they ran reality shows that made a real profit.
@@Mario_N64 Ironic. The M in MTV is supposed to stand for music, yet They started making money when they stopped playing music
rock n roll and pregnant teenagers go hand in hand
Ooh soooooo true.
MTV isnt anywhere near what it used to be🤨
Coordinated effort to destroy our youth and country... If you voted for Joe, you voted for America’s slaughter... Congratulations
They were all motivated here and it shows. Love how Peter is basically dancing on the kit during New York Groove with a huge smile on his face. This was a great set.
Klassic Kiss at its best!
Peter was absolutely fantastic and enjoying himself and hitting every damn drum 🥁 in rhythm and didn't miss a beat!!!
It's been said a thousand times but I'll say it again: Ace Frehley is the true Rocker in KISS and he makes them an authentic band. I'm a HUGE Ace fan. ACE FKN FREHLEY on Lead Guitar.
Peter Criss as well!!!! They were the real heart and soul and talent in the original lineup!!!!
19:00 - 19:30
The epitome of KISS right there. Ace pulling that solo, Gene in the groove zone while PS dances…. All three stood in a line.
Say what you want about them from the last decade or so but there will never be another band like this again.
Classic, original 4 members of KISS, in full make-up just tearing it up. Priceless. There are NO bands like this anymore.
Thank God
Only band that might be close would be Motley Crue at their peak. Outstanding even 25 years into their career.
@@rrock2025 leave this and go watch a boring band then
Pete Brown what are you saying anyway
There was Nothing ON GODS GREEN EARTH THAT EVEN COMES CLOSE TO KISS
Including them 😕
I was right up in front of the stage that night as soon as kiss started with rock roll night and party everyday, it felt like all the oxygen was sucked out of the area and I couldn't breathe for like 30 seconds. Every person there went completely nuts and they went on to play four more songs and the music was blasting through the streets of Brooklyn, it was an experience I would never forget, this is coming from a person that has attended 38 kiss concerts, experience i will never forget!!
Wow,so lucky you!!!❤️🔥🤘
Wow😮
This was the real end of the road tour!!! Without Peter and Ace it was over anyway!!! Dressing up impostors doesn't mean shit, you can put silk on a pig and it's still a pig!!!! Lol
Ace cool as a cucumber as usual, singing a great New York Groove.
Nice backing vocals from the rest of KISS.
God bless Peter, he does great here, long life and good health to him.
KISS at its best.
I thought Thayer sounded good when I saw KISS live last February but after watching Ace’s performance there is no contest!!!! Ace absolutely kills that guitar and is forever the REAL SPACEMAN!!!! 🚀 🪐 ⭐️
I’ve saw them dozens of times in the 70s, 80s and 90s. By the time Ace and Peter were fired for the final time I stopped going. It just wasn’t the same! It’s too bad you never had a chance to se the original line-up. As great as this video is there’s absolutely nothing that compares to seeing them live.
Peace!
Except Ace simply cannot play guitar and sing at the same time. Luckily here during the verse he only had to sing. Great, creative, unique lead guitarist. I wish they’d invite him to guest the final few shows. But watching him play live nowadays.... it’s not good.
Edimaiix
Its true, ace and peter when dedicated ,,,its the best kiss. But ace and peter cant pull this off each night. Thats what people dont realize...tommy and eric provide stability each night.
Agreed always loved Ace!!!!
ACE killed it with that "Back in the New York Groove..." ....wow.....at his finest.
Wow ! Peter is playing great !
They didn’t know it at the time but Kiss would never be this good again, and neither would MTV
Misfit: you nailed it!!!
Doug Witherby I do my best :)
You're kidding right? I saw 3 Reunion era shows and would hands down take the Rock The Nation and Sonic Boom shows i saw any day over all 3 Reunion era shows.
I agree 100%
Somewhat agree about KISS but definitely agree about MTV 😁
Ace was cool, charismatic and his solos have a quality that Thayer can't imitate.
No one can dude . There's only one Ace
Peter was amazing as well!!! Don't forget that fact!!! Catman and Ace were always my favorite!!!
🤠 THE Kiss. Great performance, great camera work, great sound, great editing... Yeeee-hawww!!! ♠️🐱
I’m glad this was recorded for posterity. One of the best sets with the original members. Thanks for posting this!
No probs. Wish I could go back & clear up the footage more.
Peter was on fire here !
Right?!??! every hit is on point.
The best of KISS, original members kicking ass. This is the KISS i will always remember
This is why kiss is a legend !!
Ace by far the best guitarist and most talented. Damn I miss those days!!!
Once again, love Ace!!! But the best, Mr. Jimmy Paige and if he would not have died so young Randy Rhodes was on his way!!!!
I remember watching this live. This is the tightest I have ever heard the original lineup, They were on fire.
Too bad we didn't get this more often. The 3 shows i saw in the Reunion era Ace made so many mistakes
They were flat out killing it. That might be the best live version of Deuce I've ever seen.

Peter has never looked more engaged, entertaining and like he’s having an awesome time.
It’s nice to see.
When these 4 are locked in…there’s nobody better! This was one of their best performances ever
This is when the KISS Reunion was at it's best. I love Ace's lighting guitar. Truly, they were at their best and having fun at this point.
So for all you young girls and guys, Ace the guy playing that awesome guitar solo, inspired a lot of the professional players today, with his badas# playing in the late 70's and 80's.
You mean mid 70's-early 80's!

@@Arbaal it must have been all night you stayed up to rant this. Ace is a legend period who influenced generations. And you? A fucking comical and weird crank. With sweet FA in your bank account. LMFAO.
This was the beginning of the their reunion tour and it never got back to these heights.
That's opening night in Detroit was maybe the best concert of all time💥👊🎯
The original 4! My God how good did they all sound not just vocally but strumming their instruments! Ace nailed it on the guitar, Paul got the crowd into it, Gene never sounded so good belting out toons and Peter was slamming those drums and leading the rhythm while enjoying the hell out of the original 4 being back! By far the best they ever sounded in their career! Although they may not be what they once were all I can say is they owe it to their fans to make their last show Jan 30, 2023 which will be the 50th anniversary of the original 4 performing live and the only way to end it is with the original 4 Gene, Paul, Ace, and Peter! That’s how this band has to go out! Legends 50 years! No other band or concert show like them in this world!
Totally agree

This was the ultimate of AWESOMENESS for KISS! Nothing like Peter, Ace, Paul and Gene! Pure entertainment, Pure ROCK AND ROLL!
WOW, where did 24 year's go ?, love it !
44 years for me....those were the days
I wish I was there for it but I was just a 16 year old kid w/ no car and hardly any pocket money.
I know seems like yesterday ! Happend quick and ended quick ! But it was magic while it lasted ! For the most part !!!!!
Kiss will go down in the rock and roll history books not only as one of the best rock bands ever to grace the stage but as the band that always out performed them all. 😲
This is the real KISS !!!
Tight, passionate, engaged, power. This is KISS
Space Ace! The one and only
This is kiss, this is what the fans wanted and loved. Paul & Gene don't you understand?
Yesssssss ty !!!!
Fantastic, pure energy! Those were Kiss I love.
I love how happy Peter seemed
Peter smiling makes my day! All of them having a great time, Ace playing his ass off! Great stuff!!!
I bought Kiss Alive 1 at the corner 5 and Dime as my VERY FIRST record in 1975. I was barely 7 years old, but was OBSESSED with the cover. I had no idea who they were or what they sounded like, but once I heard it, I played it non-stop on my parents massive console stereo system that was as big as a coffin!!!! I’m a 53 year old Nana now, and hunger for really loud heavy music is just as strong. Thank you, KISS❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️
I think this is the best kiss has ever sounded and definitely the best footage of the 5 year reunion
This is the best I ever heard this band.
Agreed - 100 percent.
I was 25 when this tour happened and i cant remember being more stoked to see a concert before or since. What a fun moment for Kiss fans who were too young to see them in the 70s.
I was 21 n in heaven seeing this reunion tour. Seen Kiss several times without makeup before this, but this...this made me happy.
I was 21. Saw them twice.
Bought my first KISS LP at age 12 (KISS Alive! In 1977), parents wouldn’t let me go to the Dynasty tour in 1979, so my first chance was 1983. By then, Peter had been replaced by Eric Carr and RIGHT before the show for Creatures of the Night, Ace crashed his Delorean. So, what I saw was Vinnie Vincent as the last minute substitution. I was amped and crushed at the same time. It would be 13 years before I got to see KISS as they were supposed to be. But, having seen this show, I can easily say it was well worth the wait!
I was 20 and went to 6 shows on this tour and was blown away at every one of them!
It has given me tears in my eyes. This was soooooooo good. I never knew they played at the MTV awards. But this was extremly well played, as if nothing happened. I love KISS this way the best. This brings me back to my childhood and I say it again, this gives me tears in my eyes. What a band.
I feel the same
It's on kissoliogy
you're right they used to kick ass but the funny thing is now all they care about is money they're a bunch of old men who haven't put out an album since 2012 and it was the worst of I've ever heard in my life they had a farewell tour in 2000 a few years later had another one now they're on their another farewell tour all those people that paid big moneyto see them because they thought it was the last time they were ever going to tour they should all be given free tickets for the show half of them went just because they weren't going to tour anymore a few years later they do the same thing and now they're doing it againand there's no new music again the same old bulshit they have five or six decent songs then it's a bunch of noise for 2 hours they can't even go in the studio and make a great album take their time to give the fans who have made them Rich a good album with some new music to jam to not the same old s*** what kind of band tours and charges people big money but don't take the time to go into the studio and make a new album for the fans this is all about money p e r i o d
they don't have a lot of good songs and their albums didn't really sell that great I mean they've been around what 50 years and they've only sold 100 million albums AC DC's been around a little less time than them and they've sold almost 250 million albums take the album Back in Black by ACDC you could take kiss you could take their five best albums and combine their sales and Back in Black out sold them by tens of Millions the only reason I bring that up is because I heard an interview one time by Gene Simmons and he was talking s*** about ACDC opening up for them in the seventies well guess what ACDC have sold twice as many albums as Kiss
@@Chad-rv8wb I don't care about AC/DC. This is about KISS. Why do you bring this up? I am just saying how much this means to me and you come up with ac/dc... This isn't a competition , this isn't about sales. Why bring this up? Like, did ac/dc make you cry at one moment? While they sang Giving the dog a bone? You got emotional? Yeah, but they sold more albums... Gene Simmons is an a hole... We all know that. So? But ac/dc sold more albums. Get outta here.
The very reason I have been playing guitar for the past almost 40 years, thanks for the inspiration KISS
Admit it. We're ALL only here, because we know Ace motherf*cking Frehley is here!

96 was first time I ever saw Kiss live. I grew up with them in the 70's and I refused to see them live until it was the original lineup in makeup, and it was worth the wait!!!!
Yeah same!
Yup same here.
yup me to.6-28-96 tiger stadium on the floor about 50 ft. back. It was like I was 10 years old all over again.
I'm just thankful that at 16, I got to see the original full tilt KISS live at Maple Leaf Gardens on a hot August night, 1979. One of the highlights of my youth.
I grew up with Kiss. It takes all the components to make a band. But Ace just holds it all together. He seals the deal.
Peter as well!!! They were the real talent and heart and soul of the original lineup!!!
@@kevinchandler179 Yes. For sure.
This is the real KISS.
Dustin Martin, so the “real Kiss” is supposed to have two unprofessional members that don’t care about making music and can’t play Kiss songs? I’m not sure that makes sense. I’d like to see Peter Criss play Domino and Ace play I’ve had Enough (Into the Fire). Just two Kiss songs that the “real” Kiss couldn’t play.
@@Dr.Jekyll I agree John Wayne Kiss had to evolve Bruce Kulick saved Kiss needed his wammy bar type playing Ace is a 70's guitar player which I love but this fake Kiss stuff so dumb Kiss is Paul and Gene plus all the other great members that joined over the years
Jon Visser, absolutely! Where were Ace and Peter in the 80s when (mostly) Paul and Gene we’re keeping Kiss afloat, making multi-platinum albums, and headlong arena tours? The answer is going now where fast, although I do like the first Frehley’s Comet record. Everything else from him has been forgettable. Eric Singer and Tommy Thayer have now been in Kiss longer than Ace and Peter.
John Wayne, this video of the original lineup reunited was uploaded for we fans of the original lineup. To us the only real Kiss is Gene, Ace, Paul and Peter and you are never going to change our minds. Go spew your negative bullshit somewhere else!
flash21502, first I’m a Kiss fan, of all eras.
Second, don’t be an idiot. This video wasn’t uploaded only for fans of the original lineup. And this is the reunion lineup, not the original lineup. The members had changed so much by then.
Third, I’m not “spewing” anything. If you only like Ace and Peter, for whatever reason, that’s fine. If you only like Kiss with Ace and Peter, have at it. But I will point out facts when some knucklehead tries to say that Kiss is not Kiss without A&P. The facts say differently.
Loved watching this, especially the guys doing New York Groove. The solo thing never really worked for me, but it’s nice that they could do Ace’s version of the song together. They all look so good together. Like the old 70’s KISS. All of them look like they’re having a ball!
Hello 👋 belle
How're you doing
Thanks for being a fan of my musical craftiness,
It's nice meeting you here
I saw the 1996 Reunion tour in Phoenix. They were unbelievable. I might be a little biased as I’d been a huge fan since ‘75 and this was the fist time I got to see the original lineup live, but that show sits in the top 3 all-time best of my life (got to see Ozzy & Randy live, Journey before the drama, and a gazillion shows from 1980 - onward). It was like living a childhood dream. KISS brought every ounce of their A-game. It was perfect.
Nobody beats, Ace! Peter looks so happy! This is the original band no substitute!!!
That is one hell of a solid set, very solid sound.
the best band in the world, nothing compare's to KISS.... thank you God for them !!!!!
I saw them in 77 for the first time and I was 11 years old and I tell you that I was blown away with what I was witnessing !! I left there being a rock fan for life !! They dont get the respect they deserve, sure they were not as musically talented as say LED-ZEPPELIN , Deep Purple and VAN HALEN but they were every bit as entertaining !!! For a young fellow like me who was wondering what it was all about .....I left the concert understanding that it was all about Partying, Pussy, Music and having a great time everyday of our lives !!
LED who? Deep who? Van who? No, seriously? These guys are just as talented as they were... KISS actualy inspired big bands and gitarist all over the world and still do to this day. Dimbag Darryl says Ace was the reason to play music. And he wanted to be as great as Ace.
@@roelofbekelaar874 Ace is one of the reasons I first picked up a guitar. I love Kiss and they were my favourite band as a kid in the 70's but even the members of Kiss themselves would admit that they are not as musically talented as the members of Led Zeppelin. Led Zeppelin could improvise a song to well over 20 minutes. They are all virtuosos... amongst the greatest rock musicians ever. Kiss were great at what they did. Solid hooks and simple, short rock songs, with an innovative, great live show. Nothing more, nothing less.
77 was my 2nd show

THIS was it. 1996 was the last year Kiss was PERFECT. They came to Detroit and played at the old Tiger's stadium.
In 2000 they were still great, but definitely on their way down, unfortunately.
I was at tiger stadium on 6-28-96 great show. Also saw them at the van andel in 2000 still made me feel 10 years old again, but agree some of the magic was gone.

Ace was on fire this night just like the whole band was. Never heard Acelook, sound and play so good. These reunion period days1996-2003 with the original 4 were some fun times. I'm not really a Kiss fan but when they were at their best damn, they were one hell of a rock band. Ace was awesome!
Thanks for your words about Kiss, most people either love them or hate them. It's rare that someone who isn't a big fan to give them their due credit.
Ace killed New York groove!!
Doesn't matter anymore which Kiss lineup, cherish your memories of the shows you saw😀
Ace is pulling out all the lightning bolts here 🤘⚡️☄️💥
Before the Reunion Tour, Thayer had said to Paul: "Peter can't play the drums, he doesn't know" ... There you are Tommy, Peter destroyed his kit!
Fuck Thayer for putting on Ace’s makeup
I wouldn't believe anything that ever comes out of the megalomaniac Paul's mouth

Dude it’s makeup, grow up. You’d do it in a second if you were offered the gig.
Peter Criss couldn’t even come close to Carr or Singer in the ability department. He was the best singer of the 3, was.
Peter probably couldn't play. That's not a big deal. If you step away from the kit for a long period of time you've got to work at it to get it back. It's common.
Ha, hilarious 😂!!! You guys are actually talking shit about a living legend drummer!!! Tommy has the audacity to say that the Catman couldn't play drums very well??????? Disgusting
