Hi There, just noticed at minute 19:08 Creality Cloud might be the headline to choose 😅. Love to watch more of your content. Greetings from Munich/Bavaria.
I'm glad you made this video. I'm still thinking about offering my Z scale model railroad stuff somewhere. As to the 20% that Cults gets, all the places where my ebooks are on sale take 30%. I feel like a percentage is much better than a monthly fee.
good talk! I need to get back to making more 3d printing stuff again, I have been trying to move away from Thingiverse for a long time but I always end up back there for something. I like printables, and I am glad its no longer fully prusa themed. I have tried the others but the models just arent there.
The search function on printables is still quite poor compared to thingiverse, while thangs often gives way too many irrelevant options. Ultimaker seem to be somewhat improving thingiverse over time, though there are still old glitches around and new ones introduced.
Great comparisons. I have only posted simple things to printables. As someone that primarily prints and doesn't design, I find posting makes on Printables the best. Cults always seems slower. Thingiverse feels dated. Thangs community pictures seems like an afterthought. No real insensitive to post there.
Switched from Thingiverse to Printables right when Printables first launched, personally not a big fan of Prusa, but Printables is probably the exception. The server is way more stable (at least I don't need to log in every time), the "Prusameters" reward system encourages you to share your makes, and frequent design contests just like the old-time Thingiverse... Tho Cults is still better for paid models.
It's been my experience that Thingiverse is super left leaning and likes to remove content that doesn't lean the same way. I've had a few models pulled after single users have taken offense. The unfiltered comments from the offended are fine but taking down my models is just wrong.
CGTraider isn't really a repository for 3D *print* files. I go there I mostly find assets for videos and games and whatnot. Anything I get from CGTraider usually needs to be heavily modified before it can be 3D printed in my experience. Thus, I don't consider it a vector for discovery in the 3D printing arena.
Odyssey is a video sharing platform that copies my videos from RUclips on them because I setup with them ages ago. If it even has the ability to host files, I've never heard of it.
Partially I made this video because there are still school curriculums that say "download a model on thingiverse" and I wanted to show that there are other options. I should make a video about where to *find* 3D models. It'll be pretty short though. Yeggi.
The real question is how do you get people to *print* your stuff? www.kickstarter.com/projects/3dpprofessor/printablok-battlemecha

Yeah, I should really fire my editor. But he's just so cheap.
Thank you for pronouncing Thingiverse correctly.
Uhhh, how else has it been pronounced?
I'm not even native and can't think about any other way it could be pronounced what are you saying lol

“Releasing models and not really asking for anything”
Prusa meter is all I want

Eh, I just use Yeggi.
Thanks for posting this! I was just wondering where is a good place to sell 3D models.

Excellent vid Sir
A little sidenote on Printables, for selling/premium models you need to have reached level 17 or 18, not from the start
Interesting. Well, good thing to aspire to.
When giving the scores for creality cloud you forgot to edit the name of the platform on the slide
DOH!

It's they're playground. They can set whatever rules they want for it. And you have options, so no big.
why no makerworld?
It was too new at the time. Didn't even know about it at the time.
What about cgtrader?

@@3dpprofessor oh yes I see... I use cgtrader to print collectibles
Creality SLIDE says it's ultimaker thingiverse...Also need a SUMMARY....Not up to your usual video content!
Doh! I'd fire my editor, but he's wearing my underwear.
Not going to fault you for it. Just not going to give you any points for the upload process. :)
Should have added odysee to your list.

I've heard thingiverse accused of being many things, but "the best" was never one of them.

Yeggi.
@@3dpprofessor Yeggi looks pretty bare bones, not a lot of options for browsing or narrowing down the search.
