It's really a Namjoon experience. I love the song from day 1. The mvideo is so artistic. He doesn't want to follow what society expects him to do or to be.
a ARMY theory is that these are all different Events that occurred to him in various timelines of his life: he was a child to his parents, a friend in a group out partying, a boyfriend in a turbulent relationship, and then a husband with a beauiful family. Throughout, he felt like he was never fit perfectly into any of these roles. In his journey of self discovery he encounters another human, kim minha (the actress), who is as lost as he is in the maze of societal roles and expectations. However after they had a conversation on the couch, he realizes that it's not just him, this is the reality of most people, and life is never going to feel perfect cut to him being teleported to these scenarios again, but now he's happy bcs knowing he is not alone in this journey makes him appreciate life and it's imperfections more. In the end it's almost like enlightenment where he's freed from the shackles of pursuing a perfect life now understands the true meaning of living. you see him walking through the forbidden door with kim minha, both now happy and content 💜💜
Lee Sung Jin, the MV director, said he and RM shared a lot of stories and came upon a story about a man that was stuck in a house with his PAST, PRESENT AND FUTURE. Doors have always been very symbolic. The door with the three different colored circles could mean PAST, PRESENT and FUTURE . Triptych architecture in history has also had symbolisms for past, present and future or for harmony like life and death, man and woman, Yin and Yang, the moon and the sun with the middle piece being the connection, our enlightenment, a third eye, a doorway to inner happiness. Also the different colors and lighting keep changing and I believe when they finally go through the door the three colors on the door are red, green and blue and I know RM has mentioned RGB before. He's also mentioned multiverses and reading The Midnight Library (many similarities to this MV). The girl throughout and at the end is "him", it's his anima/animus which he manifests to guide him. It was lost and now that he has found it again or it has come back to him he is able to find peace and live his own life without regret. Right Place, Wrong Person. It's conceptional. The place isn't wrong but he (we) might feel wrong. The conceptual understanding is that we need to find ourselves, our own happiness to feel right wherever we are. "You’re always a little nervous when you’re working with these giant global superstars. Are they going to want to rehearse? Are they going to take notes? RM was game for everything. He was there for long hours. First take of the very first scene, he bent down and his head hit the camera and it was a giant gash on his eye and immediately I thought, “Oh great, I’m going to be deported immediately because I’ve just scratched this national treasure.” To his credit, he went to the hospital, got stitched up, came back and he was ready to go. He was so versatile and open to direction and I think he was also pushing me. He would come and check the monitor and be like, “Oh, I think we can get that one a little bit better.” He has an incredible team behind him too." - Lee Sung Jin
Gracias chicos por apoyar a Nam las primeras 24 hrs 💜💜Kim Namjoon es un poeta y su lírica es maravillosa siempre nos da tranquilidad en sus canciones 🐨👑💜
This is such a cool song! 💥💗💥 With such a deep meaning and at the same time with such a pleasant atmosphere, a light vibe, one might say, of a weekend. Many may not have expected from RM just such a song, in this direction.. But for some reason I thought that there would be just such a performance in the genre of indie pop or jazz.. I really love it when rappers, especially RM and Suga, sing vocal slow songs. This sounds so good! 💗 The video is very beautiful and interesting! This is art with a capital letter! This is aerobatics! Plus, RM's acting is incredible (as is the entire cast). He conveys the atmosphere of the song, the emotions so well.. He is a genius! It’s so wonderful to reveal the topic of standards, opinions and a person’s internal struggle with these standards imposed by society.. acceptance of oneself, one’s desires.. and freedom from them (these imposed standards), which makes it possible to live one’s life with joy and happiness.. In harmony with oneself. I could do this, in such a way style, only an amazing leader and a wonderful person - our Kim Namjoon. 💜 Thank you for your reaction to this wonderful song!💗
If you've read the book 'The Midnight Library' by Matt Haig, [which Namjoon was seen reading in In The Soop Season 2], Namjoon's character mirrors the protagonist. He explores different phases of life filled with regrets as the librarian guides him between doors. The final scene resembles the bookshelf in the Midnight Library, where each book depicts the regrets of the protagonist Nora Seed. The protagonist finally realizes that her current life is the best version and lives it without regrets. This is mirrored in the end scene where Joon leaves with Minha (the librarian) and returns to his current life without any regrets. The DOOR Joon yearns for is LIFE! “Between life and death, there is a library. And within that library, the shelves go on forever. Every book provides a chance to try another life you could have lived. To see how things would be if you had made other choices... Would you have done anything differently if you had the chance to undo your regrets?” - The Midnight Library, Matt Haig"
First I love the song and MV. It was very thought provoking. My take away is …. The Namjoon we first encounter in the beginning seems to be despondent, not really interested in what is happening around him. He is indifferent. He seems out of place and that is why, he is running away or avoiding…you see that throughout the many different scenarios in his life. We are then introduced to a young woman that seems to be looking for something or someone. What I found interesting is that she and Namjoon are wearing that same color/pattern clothing. I believe this young woman represents a missing part or another part of Namjoon’s psyche…hence title “come back to me”. It wasn’t until he stopped running away and confronted the young woman (himself)… sort of reconnected with himself, that he is able to be happy, more involved, connecting with those around him. Here again in the last scene, both the young woman and Namjoon are in the same color. Now that he fully who he wants to be, he is able to OPEN THE DOOR.
Maybe... RM "wondering in the maze of life", which door we walk through and what remains behind closed doors?... This is real song what we can really listen, a movie to watch and thoughts to talk about after💜
Live your reaction❤❤ RM is truly the most talented rapper, composer, songwriter, producer and human being ,every song he does has a different story and different emotions!!
If you know RMs work every mix tape and album is different from the last. He is continuously pushing boundaries. In a way thats what is also happening in the mv. RM wanders around confused and unhappy through all these potential lives and expectations never being comfortable. We see this has been so since he was small. At some point he becomes more comfortable in each scenario but still doesnt stay, he moves on finds himself and accompanies the woman out of the maze of societies expectations to find non of it's real. In the light he sees its all fake sets designed and created by someone else. There are several clues for ARMY buried within the MV. Pain Devine. During a conversation piece with Pharrell Williams they discussed judging lyrics by how painful they are to produce ...pain divine, devine inspiration?
RM=art..

The number of big reactors I had to mention this to is ridiculous😢
I really like it a different side of Namjoon being a son a friend a husband a father..
