I use that type 2x4 system for my interior front door no kicking my doors in from outside! We have a steel building 8x8 x8 weights 4,200lbs and is anchored to the ground on all four corners, ran electricity to it with mini split heat/cool we live by our family three houses we can all get inside and lock door! For tornado if needed! We have water, food and 5 gallon bucket with liner and sawdust! Could be in there for three days if needed!
Nice safe place. I think it’s stronger than you might think being small and on the interior of the house. As for the potty situation put a bag in it and consider getting pine shavings to put in it. Works well. Hopefully you will never need it
Great job. The only thing i would be worried about are those bolts that lock the door. Could be dangerous if you get thrown around in there and land on one of those .
very good job, I like it! the only minor thing that seems to bug me is those bolts for the inside door lock slides sticking out, thinking somehow you could get injured. maybe put them verical on top of the slide?
Make do with what you have. You should look into building an escape tunnel from the safe room to the outside of the house, that way, you have another way to egress from the safe room if you can’t get the door open to get out.
Good series, the room was great. I may of missed it, but did you consider wiring it via the outlet box you covered up? I know it's likely that the power will go out, but you could keep the battery bank topped off. Also would include small extinguisher for any lithium malfunction.
Perhaps you should consider the door locks so the sliding bars cannot be moved at all especially if someone has a way to insert something to inch the bar open.
I wouldnt have had that door outside your shelter door. There is a reason storm shelter doors open to the inside. You get buried with crap all around you and infront of that door its going to be very hard to open to the outside
As I commented on your other video, I see you decided to do things your own way versus listening to some peoples comments, or even experts in the field. That room would be better off use as a complete safe room versus a storage area combo. I would remove the lock as I’ve seen many clients get locked into their own safety / panic rooms. I would add a fan to circulate the air, first aid kit, some type of eyewash, fire extinguisher, carbon monoxide/ smoke alarm. Small radio, GPS device even without subscription. You can still call for help. And I hope you never have to use that room. A lot of short steps were taken, which I believe can cost someone their life. Best of luck to you .
You know considering some of the ones they sell at Home Depot or Lowe's you must really not much different I mean it's not made out of steel sure but man it's better than Rockwall and siding
That kitty litter box bench/one holer is genius! I hope if anything bad happens you're able to grab your kitties and get them in there with you too.
Looks like a dam fine job ! I would definitely feel a lot safer in that than a bathtub or any other part of a house .
Well done! Thanks for some great ideas.

The door is a lot of extra work when they can just come in through a window.
Battery operated sawzaw would be better than a hatchet I think. Hopefully you never need em but job well done.
Congrats good thinking and well thought out. Thanks for inspiring us.

I did cut a hole to the outlet, you can see it in Part 2 at around 5:50. Yes, this way it stays charged up and ready for use.
Awsome job

I think everyone should have a bullet proof fire proof root cellar / safe room / shtf shelter with entrance and exit which are both hidden
Isn’t a “safe room” a secret room for a fire safe? Like for your valuables?

That is not a tornado shelter, but it is a closet to store things I guess. lol
Build house from brics .
This guy just talked and didn’t show anything useful
