    Hello everyone and Happy Halloween!
I'm posting this video exactly on Halloween, but by doing so I'm also not giving it a few days to make sure it doesn't get smoked by copyright, so let's hope that doesn't happen.
This show is fantastic and I had to cover it, and in order to release by Halloween I had to put in some extreme hours, as the last episode only aired on the 28th.
It would really mean a lot to me if you could leave a comment or even subscribe, I have possibly one of my biggest projects ever coming up soon and I'd love to see you all there.
Thank you and enjoy the video.

I think the autopsy was the only one that had everything. Compelling characters, a strange accident that created a good setup for the story, believable struggles with tension, a "victim" that didn't fulfill the dumb horror main character trope fot once and a well executed reveal for the final bad entity. The reveal for what exactly the bad guy really like was, felt a bit outlandish but the reason why that didn't bother me and why it worked in favour of the story was because it was outlandish for the main character as well. And for that reason he tried to understand it in order to know how to deal with it. The pacing was executed good as well.
I'm not too much into gore but that's just personal taste. So that doesn't really count.
Still haven't seen the murmuring so I'm excited to see what happens and if it can beat the autopsy for me

The autopsy, pickman's model and the murmuring were all three pretty solid ones for me personally.
In the murmuring there is finally a sense of peace in a horror skit where the main characters don't suffer but actually heal. There was horror for sure, but it left a wholesome feeling to it in the end and no signs of your typical "sike" trope.
Pickman's model disturbed me for it wasnt much about the painting but the question on whether Pickman cursed his paintings with his witchcraft heritage, or if the main character simply went mad.
Finally the autopsy (very deserving of that number one spot), is your classic body/mind control trope turning from the villain's triumph to it's own worst nightmare.
Gotta give credit to Alo Glow though as an honorable mention. It was disturbing. For me, the way she was looking at the camera is as if her true personality was trying to peer through this dumb new persona but she cant stop smiling from the outside. Plus the idea that all those women went through the same transformation as our protagonist because they were all a bit too familiar with the brand before hand.
    Just my opinion there :D

Ironic this is what your new video was. I was watching the AloGlo and the Lovecraft episodes with Matt while waiting on MHW to install.
I think a really cool idea for a Cabinet of Curiosities episode would be a mystery where people are dying because of a curse put upon them by somebody that's dead and the only way to lift the curse is to "kill" the dead person. However, they appear to be completely alive so they have to solve the mystery before they all die.

  • @maiavanwaes7590

I think you missunderstood The Outside's ending, and part of the message. It's about mental health, and social norms and I think there's 2 ways to see this episode. She kills her husband because he loves who she is on the inside. By killing him she kills the Inside, so only the outside is left. She never learns how to do her make up or cut her hairs, she snaps. None of the ending is real, she's insane. Lost on the inside of her mind in a way.
The other way to see it is that the guy in the TV is actually the devil or something, and she makes a pact with him, and the price for her good looks is the goodness in her, symbolized by her husband.
The theme was a bit more serious and realistic but I liked it because there's several ways to read it. It was more of an intellectual satisfaction compare to the other episodes.

    • @bernardsoul5186
      @bernardsoul5186 2 года назад +1

If she was mentally ill, the husband was pretty neglectful and I have no sympathy from him, because she was literally harming herself in front of him and saying the craziest things.
If there was something actually supernatural, I have no sympathy from her, because honestly, I can't relate to wanting to fit in with those 4 ladies so badly...prioritizing popularity to that extent is some middle school / early high school shit, and I don't have the patience for that. And honestly, WHY would the devil (or whatever he was) focus his energies on something as petty as that?
Stylistically, it was cringey and squicky, and just not enjoyable to me in any way.

      lovecraftian influence!

    • @Lachdonin
      @Lachdonin 2 года назад +1

@@FateViews In the interest of being less flippant, and more engaging, i'll elaborate more on why i disagree.
Graveyard Rats, despite having direct references to Lovecraft (you can actually see a Cthulhu idol in the Black Church) and clearly having a visual association with the statues and amulet, is actually very much not Lovecraft inspired. Or, if it is, misunderstands Lovecraft entirely.
It's far more Edgar Allen Poe. Poe's works were more about personal failings and the consequences of those, with the gruesome ends of many of his characters being a direct result of their own actions. The end was often a sort of karmic kickback for the actions, sins or guilt of the characters.
Lovecraft, in contrast, focused more on our own powerlessness in the face of an unforgiving and uncaring cosmos. It didn't matter if we were good people or bad, the universe and the bigger things in it simply didn't care. Our ruin has nothing to do with our deeds, and is instead just an unavoidable consequence of a universe that doesn't see us or our accomplishments as worth considering.
While significantly expanded from the actual short story, Pickman's Model is a perfect representation of this. Nothing that happens in the plot is a direct result of anyone's actions, rather it is a product of simply being exposed to some glimmer of the truth behind the façade. Both Thurber and Pickman are made of slightly sterner stuff, able to stand in the face of such darkness and not be instantly consumed by it, which is why Pickman values his relationship with Thurber so much. But in the end, even they are inconsequential next to that darker reality, their own ability to maintain some semblance of sanity only leaving them more vulnerable to the fragility of others around them.
      THAT is prime Lovecraft.

Graveyard Rats 3rd? It belongs in 8th. I had already started forgetting that episode by the next day. Lot 36 has so much potential, but it couldn’t close the deal. Both Del Toro’s episodes felt like PG13 kids shows. What’s happened to him? Cosmatos might be an acquired taste because I would have ranked The Viewing 2nd or 3rd. No WAY!! "The Outside" (ep.4) was the best episode of the entire series by a formidable margin.
Everything in this episode was a treat..
    The music.
The atmosphere and scenery, the sets were immersive and believable, I've "met" Stacy and her husband before, I was familiar with that "type" of person.. down to the dialogue and use of phrasing, putting a glaring spotlight on her contrast from before and then after and her choice of words and even inflection while bantering with the gals in our final scene.
Not to mention to the amazing acting by her, Keith (husband), Gina and the clique..
The specific song choice and how fitting that particular mix blended with the episode and the blatant message of vanity and social acceptance.
Idk, definitely my favorite episode and top choice by far..
Where as "The murmuring" in my opinion, was a snooze .. incredibly flat and dull from pacing to it's result.
The relationship drama as a filler subject to divide up the obvious ghost story.. the most redeeming quality of this episode was the acting on both leads.
Now "The autopsy" was easily tied with "The outside" for my favorite episode, it was original and genuinely frightening with a satisfying result.
I could go on, but won't. I was just inspired by shock purely from a reaction to your dislike and perspective on episode 4. Naturally neither of us are right nor wrong, or more accurately defining these works of art.
Appreciation is purely subjective, and here's proof lol.

The murmuring was hands down the worst episode for me. I didn't like how selfish and cold she was toward her husband. Just gives credence to modern day selfish women with no thought for anyone but themselves. Also very predicable and just all round a boring been done before episode.

The Viewing is definitely the worst, it's boring, too slow and the ending is so bad. I don't know why people rank it higher than The Outside and The Dreams in the Witch House. It's so terrible I wish I could take back the one hour of my life that I wasted. Probably the worst thing I've ever seen.

Calling it the worst thing you've ever seen is a stretch 🤣 you need to get bonked for that

Honestly, overall this series was nowhere near great. It was an interesting one time watch. None were great but felt better compared to the worst (Episode 7 & The Outside) Its all opinion but I doubt I'd recommend or rewatch.

It's "fine" and the best of the Bunch.
The show is very medicore, more style then substance

Man. The Viewing in last place. These rankings are all over the place. No one agrees.
