Using keto I went from a 42 inch waist to a 32 inch waist. Lost about 10 pounds a month. My A1c is 4.9 and triglycerides is 42. Cut my BPH meds by 80% and no longer snoring. Used to take stairs one at a time and now I can run up the stairs. Not to shabby for a 70 year old.

As a board certified family nurse practitioner I had an Aha moment practicing in Alaska with a 100% native population on a small island. The vast majority of these people were diabetic and it was my responsibility to treat this. I developed a paradigm regarding the ADA diet and decided it was killing people. I respected their native foods and meds and found that those who ate the SAD wwwweree loosing body parts. I completely changed my approach to treatment and recommendations and found great success is stopping the SAD as much as we could. Back in the lower 48 I told patients how to eat and most said they wanted to orivecne wrong. If they did this they all came back astonished and believers because they weren't diabetic any more. IT WORKS.

Stephanie Person is helping clean up the havoc the carnivore diet has done to people long term. Every day. It is great for healing but caution for long term. BG can go up , kidney problems and constipation. Saying it is because of more food being absorbed etc.. is not true. Fats need to be more than protein but hard to do on carnivore. Blessings

I have always been a strong proponent against bariatric surgery. To me, it just does not inherently address the underlying issue. If you have to physically take somebody’s stomach out to limit the amount that they’re eating, then clearly the issue is one of an addiction model and it doesn’t address that.
What is driving the over eating? It certainly isn’t because these peoples stomachs are much bigger than the rest of ours. We all have the same size stomach essentially

And since the authorities are always fallible human beings, there is absolutely no way any of us can know with certainty when the authorities are correct. It just makes sense for the individual to ask lots of questions and then in the end, make their own decision, right or wrong.

Great conversation. The problem with Layne Norton is he's one of the few people who reacts well to a carbohydrate based diet. He performs well on it, and doesn't do well on low carb and due to this he will never advocate low carb. He is very much the exception not the rule. So his general advice is a bum steer for so many, and it certainly was for me until I gave keto a try nearly 10 years ago. If Dr Berry does have a conversation with Layne, this point needs to be made.

Well, the issue of the calorie deficit may hold some water in theory with an ancestral proper human diet. Because if you’re eating things that produce satiety, maybe you are in taking less energy in then you would if you were eating junk. Maybe a thought? I don’t know but I do agree with you that the narrative of the calorie deficit that people can’t seem to let go of is viewed in the wrong context
Which raises the argument that if you had a choice between eating something like meat and eggs which would keep you full and have you in an energy deficit versus more junkie food that you would have to force yourself to stop eating and maybe still feel hungry, why would you choose the latter over the former?

Think chewing more has to do with eating carbs, as they start "digesting" in the mouth. As far as chewing protein well that can be a mindfulness thing taking the time to be present and giving time for your stomach to signal the brain when it's full (as that does take time).
