Brian, your content is always awesome! Meanwhile, Dr. Boring is pushing out that follow-for-dough stuff and that peace sign nonsense (spoiler alert, folks!). That peace sign nonsense just makes you look silly and doesn't even work. Thanks a ton, Brian, for all your videos!

Gotta stick with high percentage shots, no doubt about it. Most players that say they wanna get better simply don't practice patiently. Play better position " ideal angle and ideal distance equals position " know your limitations ... it's often to late for reserve parachutes when upside down and backwards on a shot. Get in line, stay in line. Recovery shots are discovery shots

It's interesting, I just play pool in a messy shop with obstacles around the table, just did today. I'm restoring an old Brunswick in my own shop, now, so should be better. I'm not that good, but (old days) I don't have to put my $.50 in often. I am better at those long corner banks than I am at cross side banks. They seem easier to me. Side pockets in general choke me out a fair bit. I did use one of your methods today for the first time. The counting to five method. Gave me a 4 side, carom to 5 corner, had to convince them it wasn't slop, as we don't play slop, but don't call. Honor system. Thanks. (The 5 was kinda slop, but I did get the 4.)

I never could comprehend most tutorials on banks (and I’m really good with geometry) for some reason. I’ve always banked intuitively because I can visualize where it needs to go but I can’t do any sort of measuring tricks. Love this video as it spoke directly to me for sure. You have to get that feel for it to be any what consistent at banking and your method works wonders although some people just can’t bank because they can’t visualize it.

I first started playing in pool rooms in eastern Kentucky in the early 70s. If ANYONE tried to treat a shot like a geometry problem (joining cues, etc), he would've gotten the CRAP beaten out of him.
The old guys (they usually had faded tattoos from WW1/2 & crooked noses) would say, "Do the math in your head, Sonny! Now shoot the &%$# shot!"

As a 7 skill level player who plays a lot of bank pool and one pocket 85% of the time I bank intuitively and the other 15% I use diamond system and reference lines especially for multi rail banks and kicks.

Bryan, you are far too good at what you do to allow yourself to be frustrated by people that can't teach a flea how to bite. I listen to you because you speak the truth, unapologetically, and those that can't appreciate that shouldn't watch your tutorials. God bless them as you say. I like your style and your simple plain spoken way. I find you easy to understand as you express your points well. Practice, practice and more practice.I can't do it, yet, but I get the message and so I'm putting in the time and reps while following your advice. I will get there! Thanks

I've watched all of the bank shot videos on youtube. They're all helpful in their own way, but I agree 100% that there is no siver bullet. You just have to practice them, start with angle in angle out benchmark speed(different for everyone) then compensate from there to fit the situation. Harder, softer, more angle less angle, spin or no spin and how much. Stroke is key too, but gosh just try not to have to bank in the first place. I hate shaping for a bank, but sometimes, it's all that can be done.

When I was practicing banks I remember I made like 8 of them in a row and I was proud of myself. Also the misconception most people have including myself at times is the shooting banks at the wrong speed. I always see them hit super hard and it's short or softer and it's super long. Obviously I'm not a bank shot expert because there's more for me to learn but when people try to bank I usually know if it's in or its a miss

All very good points. Speed also drastically change the the angles so much. All that being said. I really like to use speed and spin to widen the pocket. The more I can flatten the angle out the bigger the pocket plays. I know it sounds silly but sometimes on banks the pocket plays bigger with speed and side spin
