His voice was repaired. The depth and muscle of his mature voice in his 50s-60s is magnificent and the blues he sang in concert throughout the 90s and into the 21st century have great depth and power. What you experience in life doesn't evaporate no matter how successful you become. I love the voice of the young man and even more on occasion the mature man. Now the warmth and wisdom he infuses into his music as an elder is simply a gift to be enjoyed. An artist has value throughout his life, not just in one narrow part of it and I feel quite fortunate that I can enjoy all of it, depending on my mood, and don't have to choose one over the other. He always gives every thing he's got. Love it~ His albums and records are great, his concert performances caught on video are often amazing, but "This is Tom Jones" is absolute proof he is, was, and always will be one of the greatest singers of all time and the absolute best for me.
Correct!! His This Is...Tom Jones tv series, captured him in his prime; with velvety-smooth n bluesy; big-belting voice. He was not long off the street and near poverty-struck, whilst trying to make it in London so could sing the blues with a real heart-felt sound (very hard to convincingly sing the blues and mean it, when you're a multi-millionaire and living the dream and as Tom soon settled in to). His Las Vegas appearances also damaged his voice in the 1970s due to the dry air and changed his vocal sound permanently...
His voice was repaired. The depth and muscle of his mature voice in his 50s-60s is magnificent and the blues he sang in concert throughout the 90s and into the 21st century have great depth and power. What you experience in life doesn't evaporate no matter how successful you become. I love the voice of the young man and even more on occasion the mature man. Now the warmth and wisdom he infuses into his music as an elder is simply a gift to be enjoyed. An artist has value throughout his life, not just in one narrow part of it and I feel quite fortunate that I can enjoy all of it, depending on my mood, and don't have to choose one over the other. I'm grateful that all his phases have been amply documented and, yes, "This is Tom Jones" is indeed a treasure.

I am so excited! I will see Tom Jones in person in October in a casino near me! I fell in love with his voice the first time I heard him sing Green Grass .. He has been a complete package all these years: A voice I have to hear every day and still one of the handsomest men I have ever seen! WOW! Bless you, Tom, we all love you!
Was that casino in Southern California? I saw the show on Saturday. My God it was amazing! What a voice and charisma at the age of 82. It is unbelievable. I got to admit that if you close your eyes, he is still sexy. That fantastic voice has something really, really special.
