This piece requires exposure to the great virtuosic romantic violin style of performing. That’s not easy to learn on violin, and very few saxophonists come close to playing the lines necessary to pull it off. Nikita Zimin does it. The architecture of these lines, and the technique to deliver them in tune and in time is much harder than it sounds. (That’s the whole point!) Bravo to Mr. Zimin for giving this work the finesse it deserves.
