“When one rises above the three gunas that originate in the body; one is freed from birth, old age, disease, and death; and attains enlightenment.” (Bhagavad Gita 14.20).
According to the Ancient Vedic Tradition the entire creation and its process of evolution is carried out by three major processes called GUNAS or ‘qualities’ - namely Sattva, Rajas and Tamas - creation, maintenance and destruction or re-cycling.
Each of the three GUNAS is present simultaneously in every particle of creation including matter, mind, body and spirit. These intertwining forces weave together to make material nature and our human consciousness.
The predominate GUNA of the mind acts as a lens that effects our perceptions and perspective of the world around us. The mind’s psychological qualities can quickly fluctuate between the different GUNAS. In Sanskrit guna also means rope. They are the ties that bind the soul to matter. Learn the 3 processes of nature by which you can achieve freedom from all forms of bondage.
