Second one was the WCI arc backstory, he came from a family that’s so fucked up his dad experimented on his kids. His brothers bullies him physically and mentally cus he was a “failed” experiment. He got abused by his father, was locked up, and basically tortured. His sister helped him escaped at the end and after that leads to his first backstory.
Shigaraki is probably one of my favourite villains ever in terms of writing. His development has mirrored what most shonen protagonists go through but as a villain. We see his goals evolve as well as his strength and how his own objectives shape the world and people around him. MHA has brilliantly thought out villains

Combine that with his absurd motives and personality and you have a great character. Sanji has a great backstory but Oda REALLY has fumbled the bag with his execution ever since the timeskip. Constant stupid gags that have flanderized Sanji into being a predictable pervert and simp. WCI was a highlight for him but he was below par in literally every other timeskip arc. Oda used to be great at using Sanji as a clutch back in the Alabasta and W7 days, but unfortunately Sanji has downgraded since then.

His implementation in the story has little to do with how good the character is and instead how good the mangaka writes his story. Sanji is just too good a character from concept to ideals, without his backstory he is showns as an unflinchingly chivalrous man who will change for nobody, an intelligent person with a heart of gold. With the context of his backstory he becomes a fundamentally broken man, clinging to his morals in an attempt to stay human, valuing his family above himself because he is prepared to make those sacrifices. Sanji is a gag but he isnt a gag character, his thirsting isnt just a joke, they convey the way he wants to be, they convey that he is free, that he isnt programmed or heartless and it doesnt even cross his mind that he is acting a fool. Sanji does still get serious, for his friends and family, for his cooking and ideals and he is still growing to this day, can you really say hisoka is any different from the start of hunter x hunter?
