My reaction is a mixture of happiness and sadness. Happiness kc bihira ang ganitong kanta na opm and personally, I believe I served my parents well as an OFW of 20 years. Sadness kc di lahat ng tao naging mabuti sa kanilang magulang likewise di lahat ng magulang naging mabuti sa kanilang mga anak. Pero kahit ano pa man, suklian natin ng pagmamahal at pasasalamat ang ating mga magulang.
Sobrang ganda ng song na to. Everyone can relate. Another masterpiece from SB19.

i just like the fact that within the two albums of SB19, each has a tribute song. I like that they arent just randomly releasing song that can be bop for a time but then forgotten in the future but rather songs that can live on, can be an encouragement for many generations, and is targeted to specific people that will always exist in the life of all people like parents for 'MAPA', and hard working heroes for 'IKAKO'. their songs arent just for aesthetics but are real life messages and teachings anyone can live up to.
MAPA is indeed a masterpiece! Can't wait for the boys to perform this live tom. in their MAPA SHOWCASE and also for the official MV to come out.

This is a masterpiece written by Pablo in collaboration with the rest of SB19.
This is a love letter to our parents. For some if not most, we barely tell our parents how we feel inside. This masterpiece that will help us do another move to tell them how much we value and love them.
In the song, “we will never get lost because we have the Mapa (Map)”. The map represent our parents. The things they taught us, the sacrifices, the advise they give and hardships. We will never get lost so long as we have the Map (Map).
In the Filipino culture, we children have great regard to our parents / elderly. Most of us we would want to give back. Times wherein we just want our parent to stay still and its time for us (children) to do the rest. We want them to rest from the days and time they give and sacrifices for us.
This song hits the hardest if we have those regrets if not being able to give back and let them rest from those tiring days they spent for us. Regrets prolly due to some unforeseen events. Event where they can no longer hear our “thank you” and gratefulness towards them. Regrets prolly because we don’t have the capability yet of returning the favor (though they never ask for it). Regrets prolly because we are far from them and this pandemic is hindering us of being with them or for any reason.
Normally our parents (MaPa) would not share how hard life is, they would not tell us how tight things are. They would always keep inside them the struggles they are facing and normally they will always show their happy face for us not to worry. First part of the song, Justin talks about how our parents (MaPa) prioritize us in all aspects. In the Filipino culture, remember the day when you as a kid cries asking for a balloon and our parent would graciously get some coins and buy one for you. That moment we can only see the our happiness for getting what we simply want, but we cannot see their smile because we are happy with a simple thing.
Josh’s part where he heed the memories and advise his (a) father gave him. That even though they are not together he promised of keeping them. Remember a milestone in our lives, our first step as a baby? Those gently hands guiding not just our ways but most making sure that if we fall, they are there willing to Cath and pick us up and encourage us to try again.
For Single parents out there, you both the Ma and Pa. you alone is the Mapa.

What an inspirational reaction and message you have here... Indeed, it's important to take every opportunity to give credit to our parent's sacrifices while they're still with us... salute to all the parents out there..
I saw one comment saying that Lata Rata means Goodbye or signing off. So I searched about it and yun talaga yung lumabas.
I think there can be 2 possibilities in this song:
1. Parents are signing off in their responsibilities to their children because just like what the lyrics are saying, we want them to rest na kasi it's our time na to do our part.
2. Katulad ng nabasa ko sa comment, may the parents already are dead in the song. If you will look at the lyric vid din kasi, the first part looks like a heartbeat.
:) This is a healing song. LSS na po ako alsa totoo lang. Hahah.

I feel you uz, im the bread winner in the family after my papa died, josh part really hits me so hard, buong gabi ako umiyak as in ngbreakdown ako, actuallyi miss my papa so much, he passed away 17yrs ago, sa aming 3 mgkapatid ako yung pinaka close sa papa koo the worst is namatay sya na di ko siya kinakausap dahil ng away kami, humingi ako ng sorry pero huli na lahat.... 😭😭😭

Remembering my brother who passed away last saturday and this is what we want for our parents.. our plan afTer he graduate He would help me and literal na sinabi niyang "pagkagraduate ko teng tayo naman" but now.. Its me nalang.. Gone too soon haaaay.. Di na siya nakabawi sa parents namin.. . Which is gustong gusto niyang bumawi.. Haaaaay.. 100x ko ng naoatugtog to simula kagabi hanggang kaninang pagising at hanggang ngayon.. The song is nostalgic.. :')

Mapanakit k din sir ah kgbi pa ako umiiyak eh. . .This is truly a tribute song for our dear parents/guardians whose always behind us with all the challenges in life. So relatable and emotionally heartbreaking too. My father died 20 years ago. He was an army before that's why he was so strict. We live by his rules. I never felt his love since then. He was totally a stranger to me. I hugged him once and that was last July 16,1990 during earthquake in school but I havent said that i love him either. He died when we had nothing at all but only unpaid debts for school fees and others. Now, we are all good because of moms love. We can enjoy what life has to offer then. But there's still spot left in our hearts. We missed him so much. Someday, he will visit me again(2nd time if permits) even only in my dream. Let us show our immeasurable love and care to them while they're still around. It's not too late to say 'ako na muna ang bahala' in so many ways. . .🤭

I'm crying, my father died since I was too young, literally a child that does not know anything. Nothing to remember or what. My mother raised a 7 child. So I really hope that I will be able to say that line to my mother!! 💙
