Nou, man ! Frans is wel een Taal voor Rap ! (Het gaat over het franse Volks, Godelijk en Ouders Maffia) They are called "The grey skins !" and have their headquarters in Brive, la gaillarde ! Oecumesnit philosophy, for them, means "something remains sacred".
Are there any really good, thorough translations of this? I have enjoyed Manau for a long time without understanding much of anything in the lyrics. I am taking classes in French but I would very much like to be able to "work backwards" as it were.
I gathered it's the story of a grandma because we were told in class that "mémé" is a sort of slang/endearment reference to a grandmother. :) From as much as I can gather by listening (a bit more than I could hear initially, at least) - now that the semester is almost over I mean - I find no disappointment here, except in myself for not learning more thoroughly or more quickly. hehe
As to where I live... I've always felt I was born in the wrong country. I'm not proud of "our" aversion to positive change, or "our" foreign policy and other political failings, or "our" history. I'd honestly like to vote with my feet, figuratively speaking, and find some place with more like-minded individuals interested in cohesive coexistence. It is only by circumstance that I must live in the repressed and conservative state of Indiana. It's incredibly rural here for the most part, with more corn fields and industrial poultry farms than anything else. We have so few pockets of what passes for "civilization" that I must commute an hour and a half for my classes two days per week. At least rent is manageable, when you have deer for neighbors... As far as I know, Manau isn't famous here, though I would be delighted by that. Many Americans never seem to listen to artists from other countries unless they produce work in English. I can't even take credit for discovering Manau. I heard Panique Celtique at a friend's house in 2002 (or 2003 - one or the other). I loved the Celtic-inspired music and the inflection in the rapping even though I couldn't understand the lyrics, so she burned me a copy. For a long time it didn't occur to me to look up anything else by Manau, but that CD finally wore out. I'm happy that I've found so many other fantastic Manau songs here on RUclips I might never have heard otherwise! Un Type Bien is one of my new favorites, and this one as well.
Damn dude, that's some sad stories, I feel bad for asking now :( I thought this part of the USA were pretty much full of big city, well fuck me Manau was one the most famous singer for a time here (like 2000-2004) but everybody forgot him "Festnoz de panam" and 'Tout Le Monde" are my fav' but these are less Celtic-ish, "Mais qui est la belette" is great too (just putting this here, hoping you don't already know them)

it's the stoky of a grand'ma, you may be disappointed
but I don't think there's an english translation, can't manage to find one for you

"mémé" = "grandma' "

Where are you from? I really wonder where Manau is famous, I thought he was a french-only artist
