In fact, it is possible to play FNF on Windows XP, both the official version and Psych engine. You only need Windows XP x64 sp2 with all its updates and install OCA.
fnf actually can work on windows xp, but it takes some steps: -it has to be x64 SP3 -you need One Core API installed -32 bit psych engine works best using these steps I got it working, but it was quite slow and the audio wasn't the best, but hey, it worked

on actual hardware you can easily play fnf on windows 7, i even done it on my old pc. here it lags beacuse it is a vm and you should give more video memory aswell ram and 3d acceleration to the vm. install also vbox guest additions and you can even use actual fullscreen

i never tried codename engine before, but for a low-end device i would go for whatever engine runs more smoothly (ex. higher fps, which you can enable the fps counter in the settings) psych engine can be laggy at times even for me, so i think for a low-end device codename engine would be a good choice
uhh bro did you install guest additions to the vms? that's why it was slow the w7 vm because it didn't have guest adittions installed (guest additions are the drivers for vm)

in output, i have the recording quality as "indistinguishable quality", large file size but less frame loss (it also depends on the cpu aswell as its recording the entire screen and stuff) in video, i have the Base (Canvas) Resolution as "1280x720", and the downscale filter as "bilinear"
if you were playing fnf on roblox on windows 7 then the issue had to be roblox if it was happening with actual fnf aswell it probably depends on what engine you're using, i used a highly optimized version of psych engine for it to run
