If you get sick easy going to get snacks and coming back is not fun.... I also almost fell on some ppl 😕 but the trip was more than amazing! Loved trains from when I was little, it's always nice to go back in history.
I think it's good that these people are preserving history like this, just glad we phased out the coal engines because I'm sure they're absolutely terrible for the environment.
esTale CSGO you should be in a museum, so people can see an example of abject stupidity...oh, wait...there are already billions of examples of that everywhere.
A note: There was no "we" that phased out steam around the world. No government regulation or environmental agency mandated it. The private railroad companies phased out steam for economical reasons. They perceived the technology as having reached its zenith, while diesel-electric locomotives were in their second generation in the post-war 1940's and already had leapt far beyond what a period steam locomotive could do in terms of tractive effort.
The Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum (Chattanooga, TN) has 2 steam locomotives in operation that were once in regular service on the Southern Railway: a 2-8-0 and a 2-8-2. As God intended, they still burn coal!
Gordon: Looking at this comment and the others that you have posted to this video, it appears that you are in considerable pain. Take an aspirin and lighten up!
Nice video. Steam should return. It's LOT cheaper than diesel. Modern steam angines have 21%+ coal energy efficiency vs 36%+ of diesel, but the coal is 15-times cheaper than oil, anf steam angine can burn virtually all fosil fuel - burning wood chips (leftovers from industry) would be carbon neutral! Modern steam engines have no smoke, and have 90% less boiler meintenance than old 1930's US engines.
I know what he's talking about. With how Advanced Steam burns the fuel, it gasifies it before actually burning the fuel. So there's no cinders or ashes getting drawn through the flues to wear them down or block them.
Similar railroad is situated in Serbia, also in beautiful place called Mokra Gora, close to Drvengrad, where is situated one of the best film directors in europe Emir Kusturica.
Yes I agree and this is exactly why they stopped using these locomotives...I think it has some beauty to it but tbh is it really worth to blast that much co2 into the atmosphere for our short amusement ? I don't think so
+ƁᴇғᴏʀᴇƮʜᴇļɴᴛᴇʀɴᴇᴛ I think he was talking about coal Power plants that blast co2 into the amtosphere...but still this comparison is pointless because when you talk about how much Co2 certain facilities or certain means of transportation emit in general the absolute numbers are usually pretty insignificant... you need to look at the proportiones...if you compare how much co2 this train emits to how much co2 a regular car emits and then devide this absolute amount by the amount of people this specific mean of transportation can carry, you will find out why no one uses these trains anymore
But yet most people that I see drive around without anybody with them, so if you "then devide this absolute amount by the amount of people this specific mean of transportation can carry" that would mean that a person could own a massive car and trains still wouldn't be used anymore.
Hundreds of working steam locomotives, even ones as old as these ones (1920's and 30's vintage) don't even have a dent on pollution unless you got them all together. Modern steam however, developed after the steam locomotive's demise for much of the world, would actually run more like a car, with very little soot and smoke coming out the funnel.
Being in this train would be so relaxing tbh
is late to the train
-walks to catch up to it -
Mallard A4 pacific :" See if you run at 126mph on foot."
I've ridden it and I love that at the top they serve a turkey lunch, by the time you are done anything white that you are wearing is gray

at least the man loves his job
I love your videos. It is really neat to learn about trains in a way that connects history to the present.
I agree these videos are really informative and best of all not so long.
+Ynk Brandon Exactly
In America maybe but in england we got loads of these old line's kept alive by preservationists
Daniel rogers we have plenty of running locomotives here in the U.S. actually
sorry this documentary led me to believe otherwise, steam engine's may be waist full and obsolete but they are beautiful and asthesticly pleasing
England has a many many locomotives from Narrow to standard and broad gauges
Ride the Durango & Silverton Narrow Guage steam railroad through some of the most scenic and rugged mountain terrain in Colorado.
nextari I live in Durango
I think it's good that these people are preserving history like this, just glad we phased out the coal engines because I'm sure they're absolutely terrible for the environment.
Yeah,it a beauty but I think it should be a museum for visitors to come and look at it.
It is one thing to look at history, its another to experience it.
esTale CSGO you should be in a museum, so people can see an example of abject stupidity...oh, wait...there are already billions of examples of that everywhere.
Gordon Freeman I'm just saying, stop being so butthurt.Instead of destroying them, put them in a museum so people could see it.

The C&T is probably my favorite railroad as it’s so genuine and authentic something that the touristy Durango and sliverton doesn’t do
Ahh it looks beautiful
I love these old locomotives
This puts a smile on my face!
I loved this good people with old style train
I actually prefer the steam. Just look at how satisfying how that train wheels go, And also the Smoke up top the Train.
Check out Wilmington and Western RR in Delaware.
I went on one from Durango to Silverton in Colorado.
Just like the heber creeper in utah! they have a few steam engines in fact.
no, Strasburg PA is one
lionelfan91 agreed
Yea

Mythical comic book characters don't 'intend' anything.

Australia lacks a lot of presived railways so there's a lot of mainline running.
“One of the last authentic steam railroads in America”
Strasburg: Am I a joke to you?
Camera *hits* 1:34
What about StrasBurg Railroad since 1832?
Strasburg is standard. The C&TS is narrow.
I live in Durango, and the DSNGRR is much better. I’ve been to both multiple times.
I like the durango one
C&TS is better is my opinion. Mainly because food is paid for with the ticket.

Have you punched the floos after burning wood chips?

I believe the k27 engines could actually reach 35mph.
Similar railroad is situated in Serbia, also in beautiful place called Mokra Gora, close to Drvengrad, where is situated one of the best film directors in europe Emir Kusturica.
Starsburg: am I joke to you?
Nice vid but it's not "the last".In Romania we still have authentic steam railroads in Maramures country.
maybe it looks but isnt a authentic one...?
+yino oh yes it is, belive me
Awol i believe
Its said one of meaning there are others.
Do you still have vampires?
*Environment cries*
Hi! My Name is Global Warming.
They have very little effect on the Environment

Thomas the *dank* engine
Triggered Dude and meme lords
What a waste of natural resources. :(

Dita Ness Why are you comparing a coal producer to a coal consumer?

Gordon Freeman Can you explain why i'm a "hypocrite"?
RIP Ozone layer....
What about the pollution?
