Mashiho and Yedam’s departure was so unexpected. There was literally NO clues- and the fact that TREASURE was made through a survival show called Treasure Box and even after all their tears and sweat they still left? I’ll always support them because both have been inside my heart since predebut but this doesn’t get rid of the fact that their departure is sus.
Jinni will be sorely missed. Their OT6 performance has seemed empty without Jinni. No one can fill the void of Jinni❤. I can’t believe how sad the other members are that she left, and it was so sudden~
The fact that you add TREASURE first was great! The Mashidam hiatus announcement was so random like, it literally came OUT OF NOWHERE! And then YG announced that they would come back until the end of the year. It was getting closer to end of the year. But that was certainly not what happened, I think that’s on us for hoping for the best when know what company we’re dealing with here. How naïve we were. But I think the whole hiatus thing was only to cover up the fact that they would be leaving the group. They edit them out of TREASURE Summer Camp Photos. They were kicked out! I’ve noticed YG sometimes the ones who are already popular be the first to release a solo to garner more fans for when the group debuts. Yedam was very popular before entering YG entertainment and so was Seungyoon from Winner. If I’m not mistaken Yoon also released his solo first. Jennie aswell as she was the member of who was most popular before debut,since YG introduced and exposed Jennie to the general public before BP made their debut. They shouldn’t fault Yedam,but instead they should do more research because they act like Yg hasn’t done this before. I personally don’t see nothing wrong with it. Also without a doubt Yedam deserved that solo. Everyone wanted Yedam when he was popular, he choose YG so the least YG could do was give him a solo. IMO he should’ve been got that solo and released it while he was still heavily popular instead of waiting years later.
It really hurts that Mashidam left since I was very attached to ot12 Treasure, although I expected them to not come back after hiatus. I will support them in their decisions and I don't blame YG for anything but it still hurts that Mashidam decided to quit. Darari will be my favorite song from Treasure since it has all 12 members but I will still support future comebacks.

Maybe kicked not quit, no rookie can terminate her contract whenever she feels she wants it unless she is a rich kid. The fact that jype just sadi it's a personal reason, just shows that they still want to protect jinni. They can just say the real reason if its not really that bad so the speculation will stop.
This is my hot take: I think it's better that companies allow the idols that aren't doing well, mentally, physically, emotionally, to leave instead of forcing them to go on. In the past idols would be forced to continue with horrible consequences. So I actually think this is a sign of better management on the part of various companies, even if it does hurt the fandoms to lose a member.
Treasure officially debuted on 7th August 2020. They may have known since Mixnine in 2017 and through their debut project YG Treasure Box in 2018. Ur welcome :D
the mention of love leaving onlyoneof broke my heart. i forget her name but a staff member supported him after leaving, i believe that company is scummy and it hurts, since he was so involved and passionate for the group, he put so so much work as the leader, totally a stand up idol. hope he’s doing well TT

Jinni leaving Nmixx is really the most shocking news. At least with other groups there are some hints like hiatus or being excluded from merch/poster. But Jinni leaving was so sudden and it really hurts. For lightsum, I wonder if it's because not many 4th gen groups have many members. Most of the popular gg have less than 6 members and they have 8 members. I think knets are not interested in big groups like they used to. But they are still really young so I think they can debut again and try more stuff.
kpop companies really need to learn that graduation concepts will never work. kpop thrives on parasocial relationships with specific idols, and getting into a group where you could wake up one day and the lineup will be completely different will kill that sort of emotional attachment. it's the same reason why nobody likes tv shows where characters get killed off every episode, there's no reason to be emotionally invested if everyone's just gonna die.
Aww chiwoo. I miss chiwoo so much. He was my bias before he left. Im so happy he was able to have his king version of the album to come up. It doesnt feel the same without chiwoo but hwon is doing amazing and im so proud of chiwoo for everything he has done for kingdom. Still loving kingdom tho. 🥰🥰🥰
Long conspiracy theory ahead: BigBang and Ikon having members leave the group isn’t really a surprise given the context of their departures, and Winner’s Taehyun makes more sense with his recent problems too, so I don’t think they are the best examples. But I do find it interesting that Yedam would leave to pursue growth as a producer. YG has been know for their idol producers for ages, so it wouldn’t make sense for Yedam to have trouble growing as a producer. That is, if YG was still like it was in the days that built BigBang, Epic High, 2NE1, AKMU, and Ikon. With the debut of Treasure, a much bigger and more idol like group then we’ve seen from YG in the past decade, I think it could be that YG is internally changing up their style. These changes might not be as idol-producer friendly, hence Yedam, who would have fit in perfectly in previous YG style, now leaving the company completely. I don’t think Yedam doesn’t fit in a typical YG idol group, he could easily be a stand out like GDragon or B.I, but I think it is specifically the style they are taking with Treasure that doesn’t fit him. And it’s possible that because they don’t have plans to support the other style, which is becoming less lucrative given how far between comebacks some of their groups and soloist are, talents like Yedam would leave. But this is all just a theory that we will have to wait and see how other idol-producers do in the upcoming years. If some more take their leave and YG debuts more classic takes on idol groups we might have more of an idea on what caused him to leave.
I remember when Black Swan was gonna debut and everyone was hyping them up. But then I looked at their company and saw who they were under and I knew what would happen before it even started. Black Swan was doomed from the beginning, and it's just too bad for these girls because this company is just wasting their time, they need to get out while they can.

chiwoos departure felt genuinely sickening to all of us. we could tell that the members were SUPER fucking heartbroken because they usually spam so much on weverse- but they didnt post a thing on there for days after. not even after the first [of the last two overall] fansign after he left, and they also cried during that fansign while singing the ballad 'eternity' from his album [not solo, but main character]. we may never know what happened to him and we may never hear from him again- but we will still always show our support to him and will always be here for him if, somehow in some sort of miracle, he decides to return. christmas day will mark the 7th exact month since his departure, so it will be a bittersweet day for us as a fandom [,: and thank you so much for covering about his departure. its the second time ive seen this spoken about from a channel i enjoy watching, so i sincerely appreciate it. < 3

They really don't need to make sense to outsiders. As long as the company and group/idol came to the mutual agreement and/or both understand what happened, that's all that matters PLUS. Regardless of the reason for some, kpop stans will STILL make their own ridiculous assumptions. Ella/Kyungjoo and Satbyeol getting released on the same day. Ella was on health/mental hiatus for most of the year and Satbyeol wasn’t even on hiatus at all. And even though they released letters saying it was their decision, my belief is they were let go and the company allowed them to make it look like it was on Kyungjoo’s and Satbyeol’s own terms. By doing that the company doesn’t look like the bad guy and avoids hate from fans. And it benefits the girls because they weren’t “fired”. I simply do not trust smaller/new companies anymore. At least Satbyeol is active on social media (Instagram, TikTok and RUclips). Still singing and dancing. I’m sorry but that does not seem like someone who no longer wanted to be an idol. Kyungjoo got an Instagram too but sadly, she is not very active. If we never hear her sing again it would be a tragedy.

Now add all of her social media activity and that doesn’t look like someone who didn’t want to be an idol anymore. She also doesn’t appear to be unhealthy or injured. Especially the way she’s dancing. In the release statement, AllArt says PIXY will continue as four. And a couple weeks later they add Rinji. Rinji who was the silhouetted figure at the end of the Villian MV. So yeah, I believe AllArt wanted to remove them. They save money and the recent trend for gg’s are to have an underage maknae. And being 15, Rinji fits that role.

It's easy to blame the companies/agencies for the departures but I cant help but also think that maybe it's also due to some fights within the group. Like let's be real, whether they are friends or co-workers, conflicts are inevitable in such an environment. I mean...
This may not be 2022 but woojin depature was so sad. How everyone made him seem like the bully its the same with the garam situation. I didn't even know stray kidz like that but i remember when his depature broke out no one had his back literally no one. Every video and comment bashed woojin his own fandom who he thought really cared about him turned his back on him. Kpop channels started doing videos of woojin "bullying "the stray kidz members and it spread like wildfire everyone accusing him of being a bully. Making him out to be the bad person and in the end when the truth came out it was too late his reputation in the industry was ruined it was even rumoured that he was being black listed. JYP never had his back at all or even tried to deny the rumours that he bullied his members or was a bully. That is why i always say the industry does not deserve idols like garam, woojin and soojin. Except for soojin their own fandon never backed them rather they agreed with the lies and made false accusations leading them to be kicked out of the group. Unlike soojin where her company was just trash
NMIXX and LOONA were pretty sad departures. With the hypersexualisation of girl groups, once you cross that line there's no going back. It's one of the small mercies I appreciate about Twice and Red Velvet. While they do some borderline risqué wardrobe and dance moves, they don't go into "fap ++ territory" the way other groups have, with super short skirts and ultra tight shorts.

As a Lumina (name of the fans from the fandom of Blackswan) I would like to add that it was never a Graduation system like they pretended, it was never about that at all which is the reason why fans were so offended when they announced Youngheun and Judy departure. Also, since DR Music is very bad and can't manage no idols, they didn't gave any attention to Youngheun and Judy while another member was making up fake bullying accusations towards all the members but especially towards Fatou. To this day, they havent's kicked out this member who keep going on hiatus because their mental health doesn't really suit with an idol life (especially because they keep making drama after drama), so of course she can't rest and heal properly and keep acting shady for reasons that I still don't understand. So now, we only have Fatou, Shreya and Gabi but they still haven't released a comeback since Close to Me from last year, the fandom is losing hope... There's so much to say about Blackswan and what happened. I'm still really sad and angry about how DR Music disrespect our members and previous members (and I also think that's the reason why they left). So much potential in this group, Lumina are from everywhere and really lovely and supporting but the company is playing around doing absolutely nothing good.

Yedam is not the most popular member of the group, he's the most recognisable to non-fans. Other members of the group are more popular than Yedam in the fandom, so when it comes to their core fans, it would stay relatively stable. Treasure is a mid-high tier group so it's quite stable. Even if they don't grow as much, they are still moderately successful. I think though you saying they are pretty much over is a big sweeping statement. When Soojin left (G)-IDLE, people were saying they were over, but they didn't and actually reached new heights. So I personally think that was a bit presumptuous and too soon to make that sort of assumption.
I have no idea who Jinni is, and i've never listened to the group NMIXX, but I wish her the best in life. Hopefully she'll still have a fanbase that keeps her going.

kpop companies really need to learn that graduation concepts will never work. kpop thrives on parasocial relationships with specific idols, and getting into a group where you could wake up one day and the lineup will be completely different will kill that sort of emotional attachment. it's the same reason why nobody likes tv shows where characters get killed off every episode, there's no reason to be emotionally invested if everyone's just gonna die.

Long conspiracy theory ahead:
BigBang and Ikon having members leave the group isn’t really a surprise given the context of their departures, and Winner’s Taehyun makes more sense with his recent problems too, so I don’t think they are the best examples. But I do find it interesting that Yedam would leave to pursue growth as a producer. YG has been know for their idol producers for ages, so it wouldn’t make sense for Yedam to have trouble growing as a producer. That is, if YG was still like it was in the days that built BigBang, Epic High, 2NE1, AKMU, and Ikon.
With the debut of Treasure, a much bigger and more idol like group then we’ve seen from YG in the past decade, I think it could be that YG is internally changing up their style. These changes might not be as idol-producer friendly, hence Yedam, who would have fit in perfectly in previous YG style, now leaving the company completely.
I don’t think Yedam doesn’t fit in a typical YG idol group, he could easily be a stand out like GDragon or B.I, but I think it is specifically the style they are taking with Treasure that doesn’t fit him. And it’s possible that because they don’t have plans to support the other style, which is becoming less lucrative given how far between comebacks some of their groups and soloist are, talents like Yedam would leave. But this is all just a theory that we will have to wait and see how other idol-producers do in the upcoming years. If some more take their leave and YG debuts more classic takes on idol groups we might have more of an idea on what caused him to leave.

chiwoos departure felt genuinely sickening to all of us. we could tell that the members were SUPER fucking heartbroken because they usually spam so much on weverse- but they didnt post a thing on there for days after. not even after the first [of the last two overall] fansign after he left, and they also cried during that fansign while singing the ballad 'eternity' from his album [not solo, but main character]. we may never know what happened to him and we may never hear from him again- but we will still always show our support to him and will always be here for him if, somehow in some sort of miracle, he decides to return.

Especially nowadays, the amount of groups debuting everyday has increased dramatically. This also resulted in them disbanding just as quick. It’s unfortunate but Kpop is not a sustainable market place.

Ella was on health/mental hiatus for most of the year and Satbyeol wasn’t even on hiatus at all. And even though they released letters saying it was their decision, my belief is they were let go and the company allowed them to make it look like it was on Kyungjoo’s and Satbyeol’s own terms.
By doing that the company doesn’t look like the bad guy and avoids hate from fans. And it benefits the girls because they weren’t “fired”.
I simply do not trust smaller/new companies anymore.

It's easy to blame the companies/agencies for the departures but I cant help but also think that maybe it's also due to some fights within the group. Like let's be real, whether they are friends or co-workers, conflicts are inevitable in such an environment. I mean...
It makes sense. The dream of becoming an idol, and the reality of being an idol is different. Being an idol is harsh and difficult.
This may not be 2022 but woojin depature was so sad. How everyone made him seem like the bully its the same with the garam situation. I didn't even know stray kidz like that but i remember when his depature broke out no one had his back literally no one. Every video and comment bashed woojin his own fandom who he thought really cared about him turned his back on him. Kpop channels started doing videos of woojin "bullying "the stray kidz members and it spread like wildfire everyone accusing him of being a bully. Making him out to be the bad person and in the end when the truth came out it was too late his reputation in the industry was ruined it was even rumoured that he was being black listed. JYP never had his back at all or even tried to deny the rumours that he bullied his members or was a bully. That is why i always say the industry does not deserve idols like garam, woojin and soojin. Except for soojin their own fandon never backed them rather they agreed with the lies and made false accusations leading them to be kicked out of the group. Unlike soojin where her company was just trash

NMIXX and LOONA were pretty sad departures.
With the hypersexualisation of girl groups, once you cross that line there's no going back. It's one of the small mercies I appreciate about Twice and Red Velvet. While they do some borderline risqué wardrobe and dance moves, they don't go into "fap ++ territory" the way other groups have, with super short skirts and ultra tight shorts.
That has nothing to do with nmixx and loona and female idols have every right to sexualize themselves if they choose

As a Lumina (name of the fans from the fandom of Blackswan) I would like to add that it was never a Graduation system like they pretended, it was never about that at all which is the reason why fans were so offended when they announced Youngheun and Judy departure. Also, since DR Music is very bad and can't manage no idols, they didn't gave any attention to Youngheun and Judy while another member was making up fake bullying accusations towards all the members but especially towards Fatou. To this day, they havent's kicked out this member who keep going on hiatus because their mental health doesn't really suit with an idol life (especially because they keep making drama after drama), so of course she can't rest and heal properly and keep acting shady for reasons that I still don't understand. So now, we only have Fatou, Shreya and Gabi but they still haven't released a comeback since Close to Me from last year, the fandom is losing hope... There's so much to say about Blackswan and what happened. I'm still really sad and angry about how DR Music disrespect our members and previous members (and I also think that's the reason why they left). So much potential in this group, Lumina are from everywhere and really lovely and supporting but the company is playing around doing absolutely nothing good.

Yedam is not the most popular member of the group, he's the most recognisable to non-fans. Other members of the group are more popular than Yedam in the fandom, so when it comes to their core fans, it would stay relatively stable. Treasure is a mid-high tier group so it's quite stable. Even if they don't grow as much, they are still moderately successful. I think though you saying they are pretty much over is a big sweeping statement. When Soojin left (G)-IDLE, people were saying they were over, but they didn't and actually reached new heights. So I personally think that was a bit presumptuous and too soon to make that sort of assumption.
