    What's the best way to take Melatonin? What's the best dosage? Many patients find melatonin helpful for falling asleep. I do not find melatonin helpful for patients who use it to stay asleep or who wake up multiple times during the night. Many melatonin supplements on the market are sold in 1-3mg pills. However some people experience a side effect of fatigue or grogginess in the morning after taking too high a dosage of melatonin.
    It is more natural to take a smaller dose of melatonin such as 0.5mg and to take it it anywhere from sunset to 2-3 hours before bed. This gives the melatonin time to work into the natural circadian rhythm to get the body ready to calm down for bed. It is more supportive of the natural clock rather than giving a large dose right before bed. After using melatonin to train your body clock as well as developing more consistent sleep cycles, it's best to allow the body to go on it's natural cycle rather than taking melatonin for sleep indefinitely.

    I swear this stuff works for my sleep. Also for my anxiety. I had to fly from California to Orlando last week. I am absolutely terrified to fly due to experiencing bad turbulence when flying to Phoenix once. This stuff absolutely calmed my nerves. I am new to this stuff but it absolutely works

    Thank you for bringing attention and ideas to the issue of sleep. I didn't realize how much our negative self talk about sleep contributes to insomnia. Unconscious fears such as "what happens if I don't wake up in time or wake when I am needed" also contribute. The reprogramming that the "I Can Make You Sleep" book and CD guide you through, helps with these aspects of sleep. The book is very easy to read and would have been a game changer had I known these things in college.
    A sleep tip I haven't seen elsewhere is to cup the hands together over the nose and mouth and insert the two index fingers gently into the notch in the socket over the eye. Breath into your hands for a minute or two. This will slow your breathing because the buildup of carbon dioxide slows and deepens the breathing. Pushing the finger gently into the socket puts pressure on a nerve that slows the breathing. This works as a quick method to down regulate the body.
    Covering your eyes with light blockers that airlines used to give out or a strip of black cloth boosts natural melatonin production. A white noise generator with nature sounds or a fan is helpful for some. I found this particularly helpful in a dorm or apartment situation. A relatively new contributor to sleep problems is blue light from the screens on our electronics. There are now apps available that modify and turn down the light from our screens near bedtime.

    I will occasionally open and use half of a NOW brand 3mg gel cap sublingually just before bed. I hold and swish the mostly rice powder carrier under my tongue for a few minutes before swallowing it. This works well.
    I have had great luck using the "I Can Make You Sleep" book and CD that comes with the book. I rarely use melatonin anymore because the CD and book have reprogrammed my mind for a better nights sleep. I only use the melatonin when I need to shift my sleep cycle and get a deeper nights sleep.

    i have tried high doses in the past but often they will make you sleep then wake up always early in the morning.this doc is bang on take 0.3mg or 0.5mg.I take 1mg timed release is great you dont wake up in the middle of the night about 2hours before sleep.

    What if I dont have a pineal gland? (mine was removed due to a tumor) what are my options? Are there other parts of my body that can produce this hormone?

    Emily is so cute, anyways I take Melatonin at 6pm so by time its in my system I’m ready to catch my sleep. Also make me more relaxed and calm. I take the (Melatonin 3mg with Vitamin B6 1mg) perfect combo made by nature’s measure, I purchased it from Dollar Tree at $1, amazing effect and great price for 30 tablets.

    I've been taking melatonin for about a month. Started at .5mg for 2 weeks and for the last 2 weeks at 1mg. It does put me to sleep, but I always wake up around 1am. Should I be considering time release?

    just use a liquid version or powder but liquid is easier to find and dose, to get a smaller dose.

    I’ve took a 3mg melatonin, but it woke me up in the middle of the night, so I’m thinking is it the 3mg that’s causing me to get up at 1am 3mg might be too high for me, I want to be able to wake up around 7 or 8 am, 1am is too early smh 🤦🏽‍♂️, and since I took the 3mg I will probably will have daytime sleepiness, what do I gotta do to fix that, I’m not a night person.

    Hi. I just ordered Melatonin and it says that its 3 mg, after ordering it I came across your video and now I'm worried about taking this pill since its 3 mg. I read an article on the internet it said "If you are using regular melatonin tablets, you can cut the pill into fourths, otherwise, try to find the smallest pill size available". So if the pills that I ordered are 3 mg, should I split into half or fourths?
    I would really appreciate a reply. Thank you! :)

    melatonin ! I take 2 mg every night , you need to experiment until you find the right dose for you .I quit sleeping pills after taking sleeping pill for 8 years ! Sleeping pills will kill your body and brain .

      Mikael Vitaly Vyacheslav I took 3 mg and felt a little tired but couldn't fall asleep, I then took another 3mg which knocked me out.
      I felt so groggy in the morning and couldn't wake up.
      Does melatonin make you feel super tired in the morning?

      yes...If you're under age of 50 you should not take melatonin ..you need to cut the dose in half . and you need to go to bed early so you wake around 5:00 am ..once your body gets used to go to sleep early and you wake up early by the time its 9:00 pm you will feel so tired that you will fall a sleep with no melotonin or sleeping pills .Also there two ways to pump up your growth hormone , going to bed before 10:00pm and exercise thats when Groth hormone is released the pituitary gland to make you healthy and not tires .not getting enough sleep , going to bed late , eating high carb diet with white flour ,wheat ,junk food ,sweets will make your body not realese groth hormone and one day you get, cancer or other diseases ....go to Sleep early ,excercise , no sugar , no high carbs , no factory junk food ,... take probiotics and vegetable fiber in your diet to keep your good bacteria happy in your stomach and have a strong immune system ,also try to eat organic ,non gmos , clean filtered water 2 liters a day minimum , eat lemons and citrus fruit for vitamin C , no dairy ..., get fresh air and sun ...People who go to bed early before 10:00pm are healthier and are not over weight... ....Good luck here is a nice article check it out ;

    I started taking 3 mg of melatonin and slept very well. But I'm pre diabetic trying to get my glucose down and wondering why all of a sudden my glucose was shooting up in the morning even when I was fasted. I found a study that said that access melatonin causes insulin to go down. So if you're diabetic be careful. I've stopped taking it

    Holy crap should have watched this before I took this for the first time I just took 3 3mg tabs read directions long story short I just came of from taking 19 pills a day which included a sleep aid/anti anxiety/antidepressants 2 kinds/ant seizure meds/oxycontin/amytryptyline I had a horrible spine surgery incident took them for 7 years did the weaning process off them 18 months almost back to normal but I do not sleep just find it difficult to get tired I exercise eat healthy don't drink I am 49 yes old any advice would be appreciated to get my body back to its normal rhythm thanks

      try liquid melatonin and take it 1-2 hours before sleep.0.5mg is enough.now foods do one.

      @@plutoplatters not really depends on your health/body energy. I sleep this much when i eat only raw fruits because i have so much energy my body does not require much sleep to recover but when i eat cooked food or heavier food i sleep 2x as much.

    I'm having trouble getting my 16 month old to sleep through out the night. She wakes up for middle of the night feeds from the breast. I'm working on a gentle way of sleep training but it's really exhausting for me

      It depends. If they're sublingual tablets, u can place them under your tongue. However if they are tablets then u can swallow them with water. It should say on the bottle "sublingual" if not then u swallow them whole with water.

    3 or 4 mg is not a high dose.

      Its actually high does the body produces 25mcg - 300mcg naturally. 3-4mg is way higher not safe long term to take this much daily.

      Different people have different tolerances. Usually 0.5-2mg is fine. Sometimes at higher doses, people feel groggy in the morning. Use the least to give yourself some effect.
