Hi all welcome back to another video Dereck Reacts back at it again! This time around we take a look at another Mylene reaction with the intro to her TIMELESS 2013 tour. For me, the best entrance of show from Mylène, when you was there, you was inside the spaceship, anywhere you was in the room, was magic. I was there during her first show in 1987 in Brussels ( the day of the first captation of her concert) I was totally falling in love with her this day.

I flew from Canada to France on september 2013 to see this show in Bercy, Paris, and I will never ever forget the cult experience I had the chance to live. It is a very particular experience as no others I had at any concerts.

I remember i had a Myléne Farmer period in 1990 for like 2 months during i listened to her everyday on a cassette walkman on my earphones while i was drawing in art school. Then i completely forgot about her until i now found her back thanks to you Dereck. I had absolutely no idea she is still such a huge star, makes fantastic music and looks like a goddess. Okay, i guess i officially started my second Myléne period. Thank you.

@@FPTrotta It's hard to choose a Live version for Sans Contrefaçon. 2009 at Stade de France was a great performance and love the costumes. 2013 version is different but good too. But especially I love the 1989 version.

Don't worry, Madonna likes very much France (her principal composer is the french Mirwais) et she knows and loves Mylene. Each time Madonna give a Concert in Paris, Mylene is invited. I really saw Mylene during concerts of Madonna. Elton John is a francophile too, he made a famous duet wjth France Gall, and said several times he'd like to sing with Mylene Farmer.
Yes Madonna and Mylène have known each other and been friends since the 80s and what Dereck does not know is that Madonna had tried to succeed in France (1979) before becoming a world star when she returned to the US. And then Madonna is half of French descent through her mother of French-Canadian origin. Besides, Madonna's first name does not come from her Italian father but from her mother who already had this first name (Madonna Louise Fortin).
To add an important detail: the person who had the greatest influence in Madonna's life and also the closest was her maternal grandmother (therefore the French part).
Uninformed people think her especially close to her Italian roots ... it's totally wrong because her life proves that she has been much closer to her French side for a very long time ...

Inrteresting... I received the DVD of this concert yesterday and watched it for the first time last night... what a coincidence ! Mylene NEVER disappoints. Now there are only two intros left : 1989 en concert and 2009 Stade de France ;-)
If you want a real great song, one of the best on this DVD, try the official video to "Diabolique mon ange". The video is "just" a mash-up of different scenes from the DVD, but the song is AWESOME !
And "A l'ombre" is not the song that you have reacted to already... this one was called, "Avant que l'ombre"
And she had 5 A.I. robots on stage during this concert... check it out... very impressive !

Don't forget the intro for Live a Bercy 1996. But I must admit that's this is a quite common intro.

You're not french ? You could buy the DVD on Amazon or somewhere else ? Little by little, the concerts of Mylene are edited on blurays. If you're looking something particular about her, let me now, I m a great fan and I get all about her work (unreleased tracks, etc.). Thanks for your love ;-)
@@luc.hammond En concert 1989 DVD is the only one still missing in my collection, I have all the other Live DVDs from Mylene... and I'm searching for "Giorgino" on DVD, but if possible, with a German audio track, or atz least with German or English subtitles. In Germany, where I come from, this DVD is not available. And on amazon, it's too expensive for me.

This song A Force De is lost somewhere towards the end of the Monkey Me album, but as soon as I heard those synths on the album version, I knew she was gonna open the concert with it and here you go! I guess the only two openings that you did not react to are the 1989 tour and the 1996 tour, both are good. Her first tour is amazing, very theatrical, she is very fresh and full of energy, she starts there with L'Horloge (the song that she ends her latest tour with, that you reacted to). And the beginning of 1996 tour is the rock-heavy Vertige, one of my fave songs! The Timeless tour is the only tour that I did NOT attend, since my first time seeing her in 2006 in Paris.

You mean "descent from the sky", not "ascent" ;)...
Yes, the "pizzas" as I love to call them are real, and make for some really great light effects as well, especially in the next song COMME J'AI MAL on this tour, or XXL. In the next song the lower "Pizzas" disappear and the band will be ascenting (yes, they are ascenting ;) ) on their place ... EXPENSIVE as hell as always. And unlinke her 2006 and 2019 concerts this was a portable stage.
Oh and "A L'ombre" is not "Avant que l'ombre", two different songs ;)...
Comme J'ai Mal was an amazing surprise! Just like Beyond My Control on Mylenium and really surprising Sans Logique on 2019 one! All of them second numbers ;)

The concept or themes for this concert entrance are Bababrella, Joan of arc & the film Metropolis. Gary Jules sings Mad World (with another group & with Mylène) as intro & then they perform the French/English song by Mylène Les Mots. This concert is the only concert where all the songs were not placed on the CD. However, to view all the dvd supplies all the songs. Great entrance & concert & there are many more songs which you can react to Dereck. Happy New Year to you. 😎

As a Mylène fan, what always impresses me when I re-watch her concerts in video is how the public is into it! I mean, when you watch this video, there's only been 2 notes in the beginning and the fans went nuts! XD
Even more impressive: Mylène never has any artists doing her first part! When you go to a Mylène Farmer concert, that's the only artist you'll see and the crowd is euphoric! So yeah, so much for the 1st part in concerts to warm the crowd up... XD

Hello Derek. Thank you for setting some light on this french artist who received in her country as much praise from her fans than criticism (and mockery) from others. Maybe because since the very beginning many of her songs confronted the issue of gender tolerance way before it was common to do that...
Most of her music videos have been directed by film makers. Laurent Boutonnat made a lot of them, then other directors had their moment, such as Luc Besson (Que mon coeur lâche), Abel Ferrara (California), etc. One of these masterpieces is the diptych "Libertine" followed by "Pourvu qu'elles soient douces" that constitutes a full story of almost a half hour (10:52+17:53). Be advised that there is some nudity in these (but nothing like "Beyond My Control" which has been banned from television at the time, due to its very explicit content).
She truly is a wonderful artist, and a very intelligent and dedicated person who worked a lot to get where she is now. She's our french Madonna. :)

The beginning when she sings is a play-back as she was always beginning too late. Some fan videos from the 1st dates show she sings Live at the beginning of the song but too late and not right. And after few dates... magic : perfect voice and not late anymore...
