    It doesent matter the cons and pros. I didnt watch full revew but im gonna spot it out there. Today i test ran it at my local bike shop. Dont let anybody talk about it cuz mu revew is simple. Its like a cloud, on a street or on a black daimond trail, its like a CLOUD. Its light and nimble, easy to control, soft and even if it falls on you in a crash it won't be bad bc its light. Love it. If u have a 5000€ budget just go out and buy it.

    At 6:50 you mentioned that the flip chip can turn this bike into a mullet but that’s actually wrong. Specialized sells a mullet link that’s specific to this bike for the geometry to stay the same

    • @Jamesthebikeguy
      @Jamesthebikeguy  3 года назад +6

      Shoot, you're correct. They need to be used together for proper geometry adjustment. I'm pinning your comment to the top, thanks for catching my mistake.

    • @franklee6301
      @franklee6301 3 года назад +3

      They don't need to be used together. Just using the mullet link is all you need. The flip chip is for dropping the bb and slacking the head by .5%, it has nothing to do with the mullet link.

    • @kountification
      @kountification 3 года назад

      @@franklee6301 so the rider could put a 27,5 wheel in the rear and leave the flip-chip as is and would end with slacker geo, oppose to him just putting a mullet linkage resulting in both similar results...?

    The rear hub may not have high engagement as the wheels look the same as on my budget stumpjumper alloy 2021. It's a problem where I live as I have to pedal through big rocks and pedal strikes likelyhood mean I have to take stabs at the pedal. Maybe 'racheting' is the term for such pedalling. Seems like just upgrading the hub is labor intensive $$$. Too bad it doesn't come with high engagement and a $50 higher price originally.

    • @aaronbehindbars
      @aaronbehindbars 3 года назад +1

      I think the wheels may be different. It's the same wheelset that is spec'd on the SJ Alloy Comp, but the base SJ comes with slightly narrower rims and I think a less expensive hub. I had a SJ Alloy Comp before upgrading to a Carbon Expert and the wheels onbtge alloy bike weren't bad. They aren't super fast engaging, but they had a nice buzz to them when coasting and I never felt hampered on technical climbs. That said, if you spring for the next model up, it has DT hub internals and you can upgrade even further with a better freehub.

    • @stevemurray710
      @stevemurray710 3 года назад

      @@aaronbehindbars I would have got the alloy comp but none in S4 size and my shop was doing 10% off all but Santa Cruz so I figured it's now or nothing. The comp seems to have a better roval labelled rim but the rear hub description is identical to budget stumpjumper. Carbon comp says Shimano rear hub. I'm a roadie anyway, we'll see where I end up. They all just went up $150 or more on website.

    • @aaronbehindbars
      @aaronbehindbars 3 года назад +1

      @@stevemurray710 Parts scarcity probably dictates that they aren't specific as to the exact hubs being spec'd, so using a vague description works in their favor. I thought the hubs were a little nicer on the comp vs the base alloy model.
      It's nuts how much prices have increased. I had my shop order a 2021 SJ Expert back when it was $4800. By the time I could get my hands on a 2022 model, it was $5900 and now it's $6000.
      I have a feeling we aren't ever going to see new prices coming back down, even when the industry is operating normally. This is definitely not a hobby for those without some disposable income.

    • @JesseStarrPhoto
      @JesseStarrPhoto 2 года назад +2

      Upgrading to the star ratchet hub on these is actually super simple and cheap. About $70 and you can pull the free hub body off with your hand and put the other one on.

    Curious if this bike is a good “do it all” type bike, aka like an Ibis Ripley. That’s quite a bit of travel on this Stump Evo Comp…
    I already have a few road bikes so I mean I’m not looking for one bike for all my bike needs… but one bike for all my MTB needs. I’d be starting off on a bunch of fire roads and getting into some trails, so I’m defiantly not bombing down boulders or ripping through giant jumps on parks here.

    • @AlFerguson
      @AlFerguson 3 года назад

      @@harrygrimley4352 If you're a hardtail guy, this bike would be way more than you would want. It is a true beast that just eats up rocks, roots, and drops and is a ton of fun. But as far as being a good all--day, grind out the miles on a cross-country ride, bike it's not the right choice. But you should try one out just to get the feel of it. Make sure you take it on some technical downhill to get the thrill of having the suspension take over and just suck you down the terrain. It's almost like you hang on and the bike does the riding.
