Teddy's presence was a combination of his soulful emotions he brought plus his charisma that came through his smile and expressions. The guys brought a lot of that feeling in this performance.
Teddy and Harold are deceased, but the fella that took Teddy's place does a fantastic job! I saw them, along with a handful of other Philly Soul groups in concert! Fabulous show! No other music compares to Classic Soul! Philly Soul, Motown, Chess, Brunswick, Atlantic, Stax, Volt etc, etc!
So many memories from 1974. I was a 19 yr old United States Marine on Okinawa. I received the Dreaded Dear John Letter from my cute girlfriend back in the States. This song helped me get over her. But on 21 March 1981, I married the cutest lady and we're still married, 43 yrs.

69 today still dancing xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx been out today with my lovely jane love her so very much xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx my women xxxxxxxxxx
On this day in 1974 {January 26th} Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes performed "The Love I Lost" on the late Dick Clark 's 'American Bandstand'... Four months earlier on September 29th, 1973 it entered Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart; eventually it peaked at #7 and spent 18 weeks on the Top 100... And on November 24th, 1973 it reached #1 {for 2 weeks} on Billboard's Hot Soul Singles chart... R.I.P. Mr. Melvin {1939 - 1997}, lead singer Teddy Pendergrass {1950 - 2010}, and Mr. Clark {1929 - 2012}
I feel like I m still spinning my partner around the dance floor in 1976. This song was released in 1973, but lasted the entire disco era. It is still amazing,...... and I am 70 folks,.... still doing the Latin Hustle!
A few weeks ago i saw these guys live and was blown away, i always thought after group members leave or pass away i just didn't give the new guys a chance but i was wrong....They sound great and there keeping Harold melvins blue notes MUSIC alive, SALUTE!!!
I strongly believe this song sounds greeeaat with the actual Blue Notes, and Big Daddy`s voice is nothing, I mean nothing less than the best ! Plus his great personality on stage.
I will give them credit, they sound exactly like the original line up although the group line up has changed over the years. This is still an incredible live performance of "The Love I Lost", no doubt about it. The lead singer has an incredible bass voice. Smooth and soulful. Definitely a credit to Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes and I'm sure Melvin would be proud. RIP Melvin. And yes, I agree with a comment below, you can't replace Teddy Pendergrass. All in all, great performance!
I love all music but not many songs have given me as much pleasure as this brilliantly sung always fills the dancefloor thank God for the pleasure of music
Excelente..! Su voz se aprecia tal como era la melodìa del grande de Teddy Pendergrass. Harold Melvin group se mantiene y sus canciones inigualable. Vale la pena recordar tan bellas melodìas. Un saludo cordial para todos.
I realize this is essentially a cover band comptaed to the originals, but they sound terrific and do great justice to the original Blue Notes. This lead singer loses little compared to Teddy Prendergrass. Doing a great justice keeping the sound alive. Bravo!!!
so many times here in the uk we get local motown night themed disco reunion's yet to me the philly sound was better by far i't's about time we had local philly nights reunions for once.
With all due respect, and I LOVE Teddy P but this guy can sing also! Not sure of his name but he BRINGS it! TRUST me, I LOVE Teddy, but give this guy his due! He's NOT a scrub!
ESSA MUSICA MARCOU MINHA VIDA DE MUSICO.......A BANDA ZUTRIK......TOCAVA NO CLUBE SURIAN...E ... O ....SOUL..... ARREBENTAVA.... Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes - ...LOVE
And let me clarify what I said to Detroitbob! Harold DID sing lead sometime but the HUGE HITS came with Teddy out front! Teddy was actually a drummer before singing lead!

LOVE this song. Loved Harold Melvin and The Blue Notes for over 50 years. The good old 70's.❤❤
Loved the 70's! Best years for me. I was wild and free!
Teddy's presence was a combination of his soulful emotions he brought plus his charisma that came through his smile and expressions. The guys brought a lot of that feeling in this performance.

He is great saw him I liked Teddy he was fantastic but he has great charisma also
Yes I agree. I thought it was Teddy.

When this was a hit back 1974, I was a 19 yr old United States Marine stationed on Okinawa at Camp Foster. A great time to be a young kid. Semper Fi
