  • In this weeks episode, we repair an unexpected huge oil leak on Fabians 2009 Land Rover Discovery 3 with the 2.7L TDV6. We did previously rebuild his engine including a line-bore job but we used a aftermarket gasket and here is the penalty for this.
We are not liable for any harm you do to your car, your engine, your surroundings or yourself. Use the information given in this video at your own risk.

Yes, very enjoyable, thanks and quite relaxing watching you fix complicated stuff. Lightyears away from the old series LRs which I'm told that local Scottish hill farmers used to keep going for decades with any old tools to hand, changing engines when the old ones were completely worn out. When the ancient LRs were sold on, often on a farmer retiring and selling up, buyers weren't interested in the mileage so much as when the engine was last changed!

I had 3 Discoveries in the 90’s. First one in 1990 and every 2 years another , all NEW!!!!. First one was fine , second one a disaster , consumed oil from day 1 . Before they installed oversized pistons they tried everything under warranty ! Then problems with drive shaft bearings . Forget to make holes in flywheel so no lubrication behind . Lots of problems and I said never again , British (and Americans) cannot build cars . You people show a lot of courage and it proves that it did not get any better . You guys are experts and are very enthusiastic but it takes a lot of time ! Good luck I love your vlogs !

I’ve fitted a few oil pumps and have had an OEM seal pop out on me after only 2 weeks. I installed the oil pump first then seal after although it would have been sitting flush with the top surface of the pump, not slightly under as stated. I fitted an aftermarket oil seal (light brown colour) exactly the same position and that was 2 years ago. I’ll never use an OEM seal again. Boy does it make a real mess when it pops out!

Vera can you give us an estimate of the value of the work you’ve done over the years in Land Rover hourly rates.
That would be an eye opener!

Have watched way too many oil pump changes/fix on this channel to the point I feel you've perfected the art! By the way upon Vera's advice I've since changed my oil pump though the previous one was still working perfectly😭Question does Fabian have a channel of his own? so we can see how far into Africa his coming!

Unfortunately not. We hope he will start to post clips. Sorry for so many pump videos 😬. Christian

You are good friends to have. I think you need to make a rain canopy that attaches to the roof of the vehicles so it does not drip on you when the vehicle is on the hoist.

We have a tarp setup for rainy days. And fun fact, we only need that when Fabian comes over. 😅👍🙋‍♀️

I suggest the title spelling error is corrected - Unexpected. Great episode.

🙄😅👍But we do not think it is so dramatic when we make a spelling mistake. Getting a video up and running takes at least 10 to 15 hours. So sometimes that happens. 😃👍🙋‍♀️
