What a fun place. Loved the penny farthing carousel. And that playground was awesome. The Steampunk HQ looked interesting - it's amazing what people can come up with isn't it?
Amazing! Each piece had a backstory too which was fun. Some of those pieces must have taken ages! Really random but one of those places you have to visit 😀
Love the hair mate, keeping it real👅 In chch both our parents had Oamaru stone homes, I wonder how far afield it was used 🤔. Yes I would agree, some of those steam punk items are a bit unusual, a bit scary for the kids possibly? (4k subscribers too 👏)
Oh yeh that we just hit 4,000 😁 wow I didn’t know the stone went that far, interesting! I was wondering how much of it they sell still, we drove past a big fenced yard with loads of huge blocks of stone on pallets waiting to be shipped
Pretty neat place! Will have to go back in the summer I think! There is a penguin colony there and also some old WWII gun embankments on the hill which would be neat to check out 👍
We passed through in May - but it was raining so didn't hang about for too long. The steampunk place was pretty cool. Oh and we see you made the NZMCA magazine this month you NZRV celebs you!
Yeh cool huh! We are waiting on our copy of the magazine haha it’s still in the mail 😊 the steampunk HQ was neat, loads of work has gone into some of those pieces of art!
In the 60's and 70's anyone who had a house built from Oamaru stone was considered to be doing alright for themselves. Nice choice of music with the video.
Hi Harvey! I wondered where you were in the opening shots. You saw more of Oamaru than I did and it looks more interesting than I thought too. I was too early in the morning and the places were closed and deserted. Like you, I'll go back in the summer.
I think in summer it would be rather charming, its a little cold this time of year haha... we will go back and explore it a bit more in the summer I think 🙂
@@AdventuresWithRosy Early to mid November seems to be the best time to see albatross which you've probably found out. I haven't been to coastal Otago at that time of the year, but in April I had a great time watching hoiho at Katiki Point, near Moeraki Village, in the late afternoon. The way they greet each other when coming back from a day at sea was really touching. It's a bit of a walk to get from the lighthouse to the penguin viewing area but that made the experience even better because not many people were around.
Awesome thanks for the info, will add it all to our spreadsheet 😊 would love to see the albatross in all their glory! Penguins sound amazing, I have heard of people waiting hours to see them come back to the beach at night.
We saw it just as we were leaving in the car! I was driving so couldnt film it haha, pretty cool though flames and smoke pour out of it while it makes the sounds of a steam train!
What a great day out in Oamaru, a neat historic place. I bought a Moke (brand) feather jacket in Oamaru about 3 years ago, as when we visited, it was freezing and I always remember that day and buying the jacket. We also had this really cool (back then) 3d experience at the Station, where you put those goggle things on and you choose your experience, I did a roller coaster, it was my 1st experience of that technology and was very entertaining. Thanks for this video, it bought back very fond memories.
Oh awesome that 3D thing sounds cool! I like the roller coaster ones. Really interesting little town, will go back in summer I think and have a proper explore 😊 also wouldn’t mind seeing a penguin or two!
Haha we felt exactly the same as you guys with the Steampunk HQ, I really didn't quite get it, but worth a visit just to see the weird and wonderful stuff that someone has put a lot of time and effort into it. Did you manage to see them carving some of the stone into some fantastic sculptures that get sent to many countries round the world? Great to see you guys made it into this months Motor Caravanner and hitting 4k subscribers, well done. 👍
Thanks Chris! We are yet to see the article haha as we don’t have an address quite yet 😊 we didn’t see any carvings! I think we will go back and have a proper look around in the summer, that NZMCA park 25min up the road is quite nice. Some creative people behind that Steampunk HQ for sure, it’s pretty random!
i live in oamaru but the videos people put out there make it seem like a old town its not its a town that has old stuff in it but its getting newer every day
We did it! Over 4,000 subscribers 😁 Thankyou to each and every one of you that takes the time to watch the videos we make! We appreciate you!
Peek-a-boo Harvey. Enjoyed the music. Thanks for the tour.
Thanks for coming along! Glad you like it, was playing around with different music haha and wasn't so sure 😀
You're giving us great ideas for our trip. Thanks guys.
Our pleasure! 😉

Cool looking playground
Awesome aye! It had some old railway cranes right next to it as well, cool little spot
My Boy would love that place.

Oh thanks! It looks like you can still buy the stone today? I saw a yard full of huge blocks of it on pallets?

Yeh true! I guess it’s because people find that old part of town so fascinating. I should have shown the other part of the town too! My bad.
Did Harvey freak out with some of those people/monsters?
Nah he loved it haha, pretty random place! You would like it 😉
