Why do I never see a single person talking about the "I know, I know. shh" parts? Two things about this shattered me. One, the way Eliza moved her hand from Alexander's showed she still didn't forgive him. And two, the way both Alex and Eliza sort of 'held him to sleep' while gently singing to him broke me when I watched this live just recently. Eliza's scream too still haunts me. By far the saddest song in the whole musical, it's so memorable.

Alexander trying to quite Philip, knowing he's not going to survive, trying to sing him to sleep and trying to make it atleast a bit painless. Probably raging with guilt, seeing in the beginning when he storms in. The way Eliza storms in, confronts Alexander. Philip laughing through the pain, stopping them from fighting not wanting that to be the last thing he sees. The music, the heartbeats, the piano going higher as Philip said he changes the melody everytime. The way Alexander holds his hand, trying to hold back tears, Philips life literally slipping out of their hands and Eliza's screams and cries, continuing to sing the song they always sang and Philip's voice fading. Alexander's suffering from the inside, gripping onto Philip's hand, Eliza putting her head on Philip's body. The heartbeats in the background stopping, just the frame of sadness filled parents holding onto their dead son. To conclude: A masterpiece, showing the emotions and different sides of grief perfectly.
I love the live version much more than the album because both Hamilton, Phillip, and Eliza sound so sad and broken. The scream makes it more emotionally and pure in the heart from experience.
Phillipa Soo CARRIED this scene, to be honest, MOST of the scenes. Her acting absoloutly feels so real. It brought me to tears. Not to mention, her scream shattered my heart ten times over again. Her acting is phenominal.

Reminds me a little of Laurens dueling Lee when Hamilton couldn’t, actually)

See the horrible thing is…Phillip KNOWS! He KNOWS he’s not getting off that table alive! That’s why he basically offers what’s more or less an apology, explaining he did his best, and finally ending with recalling his favorite memory with his mom. He wanted their last memories of him to be of a son who loved him.
I love it when stories make me cry. Because it gives me concrete proof that this story was able to evoke strong emotions in me. Because when you feel happy hearing a story, you can't concretely tell another person exactly *how* happy. But when a story makes you cry, that's concrete. It shows precisely how sad it makes you. And that makes it easy to tell people how good Hamilton is.
I went to see it, it wasn't the original cast but it was still incredible, Eliza yanks her arm away aggressively when Alexander tries to hold it and her screams and sobs were AMAZING, it was Rachelle Ann Go who played Eliza in the one i went to see and she was absolutely Phenomenal
Saw this amazing musical live for the first time and this scene just gave me intense chills and made me ill. The way they do this is just so overwhelming and emotional. Hamilton holding Phil close to him and Eliza doing the French counting with Phil before he passes and then the song’s beat stopping to indicate his death really got to me. Eliza actually screamed out “NOOOOOOO!” in place of “neuf” which was pretty heartbreaking. Gosh this musical is a masterpiece and I’m so grateful to have seen it live for it’s first performance in my country. It makes me happy as a history buff.

Anthony is so good at acting, man. The stiffness of his hand at 1:29 make it seem like he's actually seizing.
The truly sad thing about his death is that it majorly effected Hamilton and one of his sisters who returned into a child like state and acting like he was still alive while Hamilton just was left majorly depressed

I had this playing on my tv while I was sick and sleeping and I woke up a few seconds before Eliza’s scream and oh my gosh I think it scared the sick out of me
she is such an amazing actor, i cannot fathum how someone can be truly so talented

See the horrible thing is…Phillip KNOWS! He KNOWS he’s not getting off that table alive! That’s why he basically offers what’s more or less an apology, explaining he did his best, and finally ending with recalling his favorite memory with his mom. He wanted their last memories of him to be of a son who loved him.
I love it when stories make me cry. Because it gives me concrete proof that this story was able to evoke strong emotions in me. Because when you feel happy hearing a story, you can't concretely tell another person exactly *how* happy. But when a story makes you cry, that's concrete. It shows precisely how sad it makes you. And that makes it easy to tell people how good Hamilton is.
When Eliza began to sob i was honestly terrified, I didn't think that was going to happen LOL

Peggy died 8 months before Philip. She died in March 1801 at age 42 after suffering a two year illness

I went to see it, it wasn't the original cast but it was still incredible, Eliza yanks her arm away aggressively when Alexander tries to hold it and her screams and sobs were AMAZING,
it was Rachelle Ann Go who played Eliza in the one i went to see and she was absolutely Phenomenal
literally cried so much during this scene. philipa’s scream is one of those theater screams that just hits you. man
I love the drum beats like Phillip's heart and when it stops, you know Philip has passed away. I cry everytime.

The sad thing is when Philip dies, the light shining on him dims and goes out, showing that he has died. This musical was a rollercoaster.
Oh, my God, Eliza broke my heart in this song.
Saw this amazing musical live for the first time and this scene just gave me intense chills and made me ill. The way they do this is just so overwhelming and emotional. Hamilton holding Phil close to him and Eliza doing the French counting with Phil before he passes and then the song’s beat stopping to indicate his death really got to me. Eliza actually screamed out “NOOOOOOO!” in place of “neuf” which was pretty heartbreaking.
Gosh this musical is a masterpiece and I’m so grateful to have seen it live for it’s first performance in my country. It makes me happy as a history buff.
The floor really did so damn well on that slow motion shot effect while on stage.

Fun fact: he talked to “death” right before his duel. This happens with most deaths in Hamilton. Lauren’s fights with her, she also carries the bullet that follows Alexander around, and this.
