That comment honestly just makes me think someone saw vivziepop and Hazbin hotel and just assumed that Erica could something similar in a short time. Making any animation by yourself essentially takes forever. Yes, some people might lose hope or be disinterested. That doesn't disregard the hard work put into this.
Jade i don’t think people realize Vivzie is the face of a small independant studio and not just one person working by herself. She has a team
@@clottedscream yeah and vivzie has much more constant support and has the funds to pay a team to help her. Erica is doing this on her own and her friends helped her with voices out of the kindness of their heart.
Let's not forget that even with Vivz crew of animators it still took Hazbin Hotel 2-3 years to be finished.
Dude, please don’t compare Hazbin and W2H, Hazbin is just- trash. (I’m sorry-) W2H has WAY more passion and far more interesting and lovable characters, Hell’s portrayal is also interesting and accurate.
Sorry if I came off as rude, if you love Hazbin, good for you, I’m not going to attack you, I just hate Hazbin and I see it everywhere, it’s getting annoying.
@@IcelandicIslander Yikes. You dont need to go out of your war to be rude just because you dont like Hazbin. I don't like it either but their point is still valid. Another popular animators have teams(sultan sketches, jaidenaninanimations, OwO ginjaninga. Ect). W2H has a single person.
I’m gonna be real- I never followed you on tumblr. I loved w2h, but I thought it was a one off, hypothetical pilot, like a proof of concept. I never expected any more content, I just loved what you already had made. Hearing that you’re making a second part is fucking incredible. I'm really glad that WTH2 is going to be a thing. It was something me and my girlfriend enjoyed and we used to do a lot of art of it together. I lost her in an accident almost 2 years ago and Welcome to Hell reminds me of a lot of good memories we shared. Take as much time as you need, Erica. It's finished when it's finished. You don't owe us anything. I'm just happy it's happening at all.

honestly, I don't really care when W2H2 comes out, I just want the whole story to be finished before I die. btw I know that sounded like im mad it's taking so long but im not mad, I just want to see where the story goes and I would hate for you or me to die before it is done. same goes for most things that are really long or don't update often like one peace, StarWars, naruto/boruto, and i thought the same thing about adventure time when it was reaching the 9 season mark.

Hi, nice to meet you. I have a bad longterm memory so i’m subbed to a lot of people i’ve forgotten about, but every time i’m reminded of W2H i get a smile so i like to stay subbed.
Edit: Holy crap you’re awesome. Like? This is weird but i just friggin love your vibe and like i’m sorry people are harassing you about when will W2H2 be out. As someone considering making a comic i totally get that you need to do life as well as work on your passion projects.

I'm that person who's been subscribed since the pilot. I would draw sock and Jonathan on my math tests back in eighth grade and I've just started year 2 in college. I still go back and rewatch it, I downloaded it to my phone so I could watch it in the waiting rooms of appointments, I still see old posts about it I reblogged and am reminded of how happy this ten minute video made me. it introduced me to Irish stew (the band who sang 'I will Never be your friend'). w2h changed my 14 year old life and I'm here as a 20 year old still watching your South Park reanimation and old hair tutorials. I'm rambling here but you forever have my following, you forever have my support, and Mephistopheles will forever have my love. thank you Erica wester for making youtube (and the internet in general) a better place.

man, watching you animate is actually really interesting. nonetheless, thank you for taking time to explain- even if you didn't *have* to. a lot of people that work on projects alone can't find time to say "hey, i'm sorry for being quiet, i've been busy with xyz" and it means a lot that you wanted to try and show that you were actually working on it. you shouldn't have to explain yourself for being absent, however it still really does mean a lot. i'm genuinely excited for the sequel, and i'm excited to see where W2H goes!

Adulting as an artist is hard, there never seems to be enough time for both art and work. I think you've been doing good so far, you've managed to stay afloat till now and that's what matters. I'm happy to know that you're working on W2H2 out of passion and not because of pressure from the fandom (or at least I hope that's the case, it sounded that way). Keep doing what you're doing and just keep being a cool ass fukin dude, bro.

This was very entertaining. I found W2H, like, freshman year of highschool, and I graduated 2017, so, a bit ago. And it was my JAM for the longest time. Then things happened, life happened, and I kinda forgot it was a thing but when I am reminded I do get excited. Please keep everything up and take all the time you need.

5:20 - Man, I remember when W2H's comic got a Daily Deviation showcase (it got several I believe!), and I clicked on it because it grabbed me. Then I started reading the comic, and loved it! (Still do!) I'm so glad and so lucky that I clicked that DeviantART link, otherwise, I wouldn't have discovered W2H, Erica, the short film, and an amazing fan community.
23:09 after I figured out I was a trans guy I went by Jonathan for a year before I started going by Connor, but Jonathan is my new middle name now! It’s crazy looking back how much of an impact welcome to hell had on my life, I drew fan art for it constantly and put together cosplays for sock and Jonathan. It made me want to be an animator! Thank you Erica for this vital piece of media in my life.

Welcome to Hell is one of few animations years back that made me put down my pen and go, “I suck at writing books and if animating my stories is something I can do then I wouldn’t want to write a book anyway...”
Thank you for the push your work gave me, I’ve still a ways to go, as does every story writer, but if it weren’t for you and a few others, I would’ve given my stories up altogether. I didn’t. And I won’t.
Personally, I believe in writing stories and animating them to make them a reality the story teller can be proud of, for the purpose of telling it to anyone listening. That is to say, I believe only those who bother listening, whether it be six years later -or whatever number some others say this will take- are the same people who don’t care how long it takes, because that isn’t what matters. Do people not get it? It’s not about how fast Erica builds up a team and puts the next chapter out there just to make a buck off it, it’s about Erica telling her story for the sake of story telling. And I for one, as I’m sure real fanatics of her work feel, could care less how long it takes. Because it isn’t about the clock, it’s about telling a good story and loving the hell out of it regardless of there being another chapter or not.
Besides, are people really gonna tell me they’re upset because they aren’t getting what they want and that whoever isn’t giving them what they want should feel guilty about that?

The whole thing about only having energy to watch AdventureTime and sleep hits so damn hard, I ended up making a 5 minute thing after graduating high school, it took a fucking year and a half and that was mostly done because I had no damn job. I have no idea how welcome to hell got made in such a damn short time regardless of help, I had infinite time and yet working on the project still felt like hell. Yet the second I did get a job, when I got home at 2:30 a clock I just wanted to lay down and get depressed I'm not doing what I actually want to do.
I have no idea how people make fun of art degrees and turn around and expect solo animators to shit out 10 minutes worth of content a year, sucks.
SrFrancium I totally agree. I’m not in the same position, I’m still in high school, but I’m balancing work and my own webcomic and school. It’s hard.

I feel now that the idea of being in a fandom community in general has expanded since 5 years ago. So you’ll have all of the old fans coming back (I promise you) and you’ll also have all of these new babies we can recruit to the fandom too, so I would honestly say that the second one will probably surpass the fist one by a fat bit. I have been waiting for w2h2 ever since the pilot came out. It’s been something on my mind for years and no matter how long I have to wait I will stay subscribed, stay updated about your channel, and keep waiting for it. Making an animation all by yourself must be really hard and somewhat stressful and a lot of people need to understand that and be patient.

I appreciate you coming out and saying something. I wasn't hanging on your every word - i grew up learning about animation as a process, and i understand how long it takes and how things get in the way and yadda yadda yadda - but it's nice to hear something. You are literally "the person i know as the one who made Welcome to Hell" and it's still impressive as a short to this day. Granted, that's probably an indication that i'm easy to please, i still think it's good to allow creators time to create.
Life isn't going to go away, but neither is the potential project, and you can only produce the right quality under the right working conditions. If that means answering questions, then sorry i don't really have any ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. I don't want you thinking i'm breathing down your neck just because you haven't put out W2H2: if you put it out, i want it to be because you are done with it. Whether that's because you can't stand to look at it anymore, or because you legitimately think you can't improve anymore, or you don't put it out and concede that point i will accept what comes from your keeping it in mind. When this video popped in my notifications i super stoked. I love hearing you talk, your super quirky and i think your story telling is very good. Also watching you animate is very interesting to me. But I also look up to you alot since youre the reason I want to become an animator myself. Your art and animations inspire me to do more art and practice my animating. I can see the improvement sooo much. I always got WTH reccomended to me and when I finally decided to watch it I fell in absolute love with it. As an artist with a full time job and a side passion project, let me just say... OH MY GOSH, it is SO hard to find the time, energy, and motivation to work on my own project when I done with my day job, chores, making dinner, etc. And it's a comic, not even an animation, so I can imagine how difficult it's been for you.

Every once in a while I go back and watch wth and I just love and enjoy the art animation and story. I never even really expected a sequel. The carecters just make me smile when I see em and I can just watch that video on repeat. Thank you for always putting a smile on my face by sharing your art and I hope you are able to make the story you want to do in the time you want to do it.

Welcome to Hell still sits in my heart as one of my most treasured memories of animated Pilots on the internet, it's funny, quirky, whilst still reaching the serious level of animation and story that makes it feel as though it could've easily been ripped straight from Cartoon Network or any other big brand cartoon tv company.
I don't think I'm ever going to have the patience to get into animation, but, your art style and comic humor have been one of the many things that have at least kept me going in terms of my normal art, so thank you for that, I hope that you're proud and excited with whatever and however W2H pt2 turns out to be!

I totally understand! I got real shit going on through college and I graduated and I had this big line of projects I thought I would finish by college and I didn't, and now I have a job and I can't focus on my art either. What I say is that life happens and it gets harder and harder to do what you want but still you never gave up and you keep up working on this project you believe in. You did this by yourself and this became so big it has even been traslated to other languages and now I am here commenting from Mexico with the hope you get to see how big your story has come. Be proud of yourself and never give up, we can wait, it doesnt matter when it comes out, what matters is that you get to do something you love doing and be proud of the results. Love your art btw ♡ you are amazing.

I don't think I've been subbed since the pilot released, I can't remember when I saw the video for the first time, but I've been subbed ever since! I keep forgetting it exists, then you randomly post a video, I go "who's that?" and click on your channel, and get reminded hahah. I'm cool with waiting for sure, knowing that when it's ready it'll pop up into my sub box, and I'll be excited no matter what! I had no clue about the webcomic though, I checked it out last night. Hey! I've been a long time follower of yours. I remember when I was a lot younger you released Welcome to Hell. I was immediately hooked and every few months I've checked in to see how the second was coming along with no prevail.
It's been about three years since the last time I checked but it just randomly popped into my mind. So, I looked it up.
I'm glad that you're still working on this project, oh my gosh!! I understand a bunch of life stuff happens in between work but the fact you made a video addressing this and a specific well written comment makes me smile.

i got back here from one of your south parks re-animations ,the style seemed familiar so i decided to check the rest of your channel out , man was i pleasantly surprised keep up the good work .
I love that you’re coming back with a sequel for your animation! I only saw welcome to hell in 2017 I think.. but i’ve Been re watching it a lot since then. Don’t rush yourself too much, make sure you still take breaks and aren’t forcing yourself to do too much. You’ve really inspired me to try to get my projects going, though I can’t do as much as you I try to do what I can. I’m in awe at how you animate, and it makes me really want to get better at drawing and animating. I’m not the greatest at animation, but I kinda know the basics and I can do some things but I’m still not very good at it. I really like drawing but sometimes I feel like I’m not good at it, and I always have trouble of not making good character designs that I can draw more than once. I kinda have some ideas but when I put them together they don’t work out well. My animation class is coming up in semester 2, and I really want to get help to fix my stuff to work better. If you have any animation apps or programs that you recommend, or some ways to help me do a good character design like shaping the sketch or limiting accessories... I dunno. Thanks for reading this.

Ngl I’ve been waiting quietly in the shadows for an update on this I’m just glad to see it hasn’t been forgotten. I loved the original animation and I’ve just been lurking here waiting and one day I can’t wait to see where it goes. Take your time :) I’d say I can’t wait to see the final product but I can wait until you’re ready. You’re work is fantastic. The concept grabbed so much attention and so many people did love the characters. I hope one day it gets picked up and you can work on it for mad pay. You can do this you’ve already done so well. I wish I had any skill in this so I could offer to help.

God I had forgot about the whole thing I remember watching it so many times. I sorta just thought it was a oneshot but I'm happy that there is more content to enjoy even if it isn't all animated. Thank you I'll check your other art out!

as someone who's been around for the whole ride, i completely understand. i was in highschool when w2h came out and when you announced w2h 2 i just assumed it was a lot of work so I was like "cool, alright take your time." now i'm in art school looking over at my peers in computer animation and wow yeah. fucking nuts dude, props to you for sticking it through!
